Recrystallization behaviors of ordered and disordered structures in $Ll_2$ type $Ni_3Fe$ alloy were studied through hardness measurement and differential thermal analysis. When the disordered structure was isothermally aged at $480^{\circ}C$ below order-disorder transition temperature, the hardness of the structure was increased due to progressive ordering with increasing aging time. The hardness of the disordered structure was increased rapidly with increasing deformation degree up to 10%, and then gradually increased with further deformation degree. while the hardness of the ordered structure was increased rapidly with increasing deformation degree up to 10%, showing a constant hardness value up to 50% and gradually decreased with further deformation degree. The hardness of the ordered structure was higher than that of the disordered structure at all same deformation degrees. The recrystallization temperature of the ordered and disordered structures were decreased with increasing deformation degree. At the same deformation degrees, the recrystallization temperature of the ordered structure was lower than that of the desordered structure.
The effect of heat treatment on the adhesion between Cu-18wt% Cr film and polyimide has been studied by using T-peel test, AES, and XRD. Cu-18wt% Cr alloy and pure Cu films were sputter deposited onto pol-yimide. Cu was electroplated before and after heat treatment at $400^{\circ}C$ for 0.5 hr and 2 hrs respectively. The adhesion of metal film onto polyimide was considerably good before heat treatment, but heat treatment re-duced the peel adhesion strength in all specimens. The reduction in adhesion in adhesion strength values in the specimens which were plated after heat treatment was mainly due to Cr-O rich pahse formed in the metal/polyimide in-terface. In the specimens which were heat treated after plating, the enhanced ductility in the metal films con-tributes the peel adhesion strength by increasing the amount of deformation in metal strips.
This paper deals with the reduction of friction torque in permanent magnet motors by using the heat treatment of stator core. The stator core is made of electrical steel sheared by the punching die. From the punching process, large mechanical stress acting on the edge of stator tooth induces significant plastic and elastic deformation and then cause the change of magnetization properties. Then, the mechanical and magnetic unbalance in the sheared region of stator tooth produced by material cutting has influence on the friction torque. This paper investigated the effect of the punching process on the magnetization process and the mechanical deformation, and then proposed the stress relief annealing method for the reduction of friction torque among one of motor characteristics.
Tension variations with heat treatment in shadow mask for flat braun tubes are investigated in this study. In CRT, landing shift of the electron beam due to thermal deformation of the tension mask made the color purity of screen worse. In order to get the final results of thermal deformation, the tensile force within the mask and the welding processes between the rail and the extended mask have to be analysed sequentially. In this study, the effect of heat treatment is studied in terms of tension variations of shadow mask during its manufacturing process.
This study presents a molecular simulation of adhesion control between carbon nanotube (CNT) and Ag thin film deposited on silicon substrate. Rough and flat Ag thin film models were prepared to investigate the effect of surface roughness on adhesion force. Heat treatment was applied to the models to modify the adhesion characteristics of the Ag/CNT interface based on thermal wetting. Simulation results showed that the heat treatment altered the Ag thin film morphology by thermal wetting, causing an increase in contact area of Ag/CNT interface and the adhesion force for both the flat and rough models changed. Despite the increase in contact area, the adhesion force of flat Ag/CNT interface decreased after the heat treatment because of plastic deformation of the Ag thin film. The result suggests that internal stress of the CNT induced by the substrate deformation contributes in reduction of adhesion. Contrarily, heat treatment to the rough model increases adhesion force because of the expanded contact area. The contact area is speculated to be more influential to the adhesion force rather than the internal stress of the CNT on the rough Ag thin film, because the CNT on the rough model contains internal stress regardless of the heat treatment. Therefore, as demonstrated by simulation results, the heat treatment can prevent delamination or wear of CNT coating on a rough metallic substrate by thermal wetting phenomena.
Non-heat treated steels are attractive in the steel-wire industry since the spheroidization and quenching-tempering treatment are not involved during the processing. In this study, three different steels such as dual phase steel, low-Si steel, and ultra low carbon bainitic steel were used to investigate their deformation resistance and forming limit. Deformation resistance was estimated by calculating the deformation energy and the forming limit was evaluated by measuring the critical strain revealing crack initiation at the notch tip of the specimens. The results showed that deformation resistance was the lowest in the low-Si steel, and the forming limit strain was the highest in the ultra low carbon bainitic steel.
The changes in damping capacity with volume fractions of thermal and deformation-induced ${\varepsilon}$ martensites were compared and analyzed in an Fe-23%-Mn alloy. The volume fraction of thermal ${\varepsilon}$ martensite increased with decreasing cooling temperature, whereas that of deformation-induced ${\varepsilon}$ martensite increased steeply up to 10%- of cold rolling and nearly saturated in further cold rolling. In the case of thermal ${\varepsilon}$ martensite, the damping capacity increased linearly with the increase in ${\varepsilon}$ martensite content. For the deformation-induced ${\varepsilon}$ martensite, however, the damping capacity increased continuously up to 70%- of ${\varepsilon}$ martensite, over which it decreased suddenly. TEM microstructures showed that the deterioration of damping capacity above 70%- of deformation-induced ${\varepsilon}$ martensite is ascribed to the introduction of perfect dislocations, which play a important role in inhibiting the movement of damping sources such as stacking fault boundaries inside ${\varepsilon}$ martensite, ${\varepsilon}$ martensite variant boundaries and ${\gamma}/{\varepsilon}$ interfaces.
In this study, intermediate thermo-mechanical treated Al-2.0 wt%Li, and Al-2.0 wt%Li-1.2 wt%Cu-1.0 wt%Mg-0.12 wt%Zr alloys were tested in tension at $10^{\circ}C$ and elevated temperature(100, 200 and $300^{\circ}C$). The results are follows : The tensile strength of Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy is the highest but the elongation of Al-Li alloy is the highest(106%) among the all alloys in tension at $300^{\circ}C$. The Portervin-LeChartlier effect is showed in AI-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy at 10 and $100^{\circ}C$, because of tangled dislocation by Mg and Cu. In the true stress-strain curves of all alloy, the peaks of stress at $300^{\circ}C$ are showed at the strain less than 0.1. In the binary alloy, the dynamic restoration process at 200 and $300^{\circ}C$ is nearly similar to dynamic recovery type. The hot deformation stress is decreased with increase of dynamic recovery degree, but the elongation is increased. When the strain the strain rate are constant, the temperature dependence of hot deformation stress is increased with increase of deformation temperature. The elongation and degree of dynamic recovery are decreased with increase of hot deformation activation energy, but the deformation stresses slightly increased.
In this study, the effect of Nb contents and processing parameters on dynamic recrystallization behaviour of 0.15C-0.2Si-0.5Mn low-carbon steels was investigated. Three kinds of steel specimens with different Nb contents were fabricated and then high-temperature compressive deformation test was conducted by varying reheating temperature (RT), deformation temperature (DT), and strain rate (SR). The Nb2 and Nb4 specimens containing Nb had smaller prior austenite grain size than the Nb0 specimens, presumably due to pinning effect by the formation of carbides and carbonitrides precipitates at austenite grain boundaries. The high-temperature compressive deformation test results showed that dynamic recrystallization behavior was suppressed in the specimens containing Nb as the strain rate increased and deformation temperature decreased because of pinning effect by precipitates, grain boundary dragging effects by solute atoms, although the compressive stress increased with increasing strain rate and decreasing deformation temperature.
In this paper, we propose a control method to solve the surface hardness non-uniformity due to flow non-uniformity occurring in the heat treatment process of marine CAM. In the water cooling method including the decarbonization method, an automation device for deformation control has been developed and applied. LSTM was used to estimate the water cooling conditions, and the proposed method was found to be meaningful by improving the prototype results.
