Multiphase CFD Analysis of Microbubble Generator using Swirl Flow (선회유동을 이용한 마이크로버블 발생기의 다상유동 전산유체역학 해석)

  • Microbubble technology has been widely applied in various industrial fields. Recently, research on many types of microbubble application technology has been conducted experimentally, but there is a limit in deriving the optimal design and operating conditions. Therefore, if the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of multiphase flow is used to supplement these experimental studies, it is expected that the time and cost required for prototype production and evaluation tests will be minimized and optimal results will be derived. However, few studies have been conducted on multiphase flow CFD analysis to interpret fluid flow in microbubble generators using swirl flow. In this study, CFD simulation of multiphase flow was performed to analyze the air-water mixing process and fluid flow characteristics in a microbubble generator with a dual-chamber structure. Based on the simulation results, it was confirmed that a negative pressure was formed on the central axis of rotation due to the strong swirling flow. And it could be seen that the air inside the suction tube was introduced into the inner chamber of the microbubble generator. In addition, as the high-speed mixed fluid collided with external water sucked by the negative pressure near the outlet, a large amount of microbubbles was ejected due to the shear force between the two flows flowing in opposite directions.

  • The present study developed a design code for preburner of staged combustion cycle engines, which calculates preburnt gas at high-pressure oxidizer-rich conditions and predicts conjugate heat transfer and hydraulics of cryogenic fluid flow through cooling passages. It has been written based on the open-source library Cantera, into which this study has incorporated new source codes to predict correctly non-ideal thermodynamics and transport anomalies of the cryogenic fluid. For a preburner of 100 tonf-class booster engine currently under preliminary design, the present code demonstrated predictive capability and usability as a design code by comparing with CFD simulation.

  • In conventional heat and vent dryer, both sensible and latent heat could not be recovered from the exhaust air, but this problem could be solved by introducing a heat pump to a conventional dryer, having a connection with cooling, dehumidifying and heating of heat pump. In this work, HFC134a as a substitute refrigerant of CFC12 adopted in heat pump and a batch type is also introduced. The variables affected on the system performance are holding temperature of a drying chamber, bypass air ratio, degree of superheat and refrigerant flowrate, etc. The moisture contents were decreased curvilinearly in the range of $86{\sim}75%$ on the wet basis. Under the constant drying temperature, the face velocity plays an important role to the drying performance. The COPs are increased in accordance with the air velocity, on the other hand the SMERs are gradually decreased.

  • As the results of analysis that are applying a heat pump using underground water as heat source of facility horticulture house, temperature change in house, growth of cultivated plants and the crop characteristic, the conclusion can be acquired as follows. It was possible to maintain the chamber temperature through operating heat pump with setting goal temperature at $16^{\circ}C$ and temperature variation at ${\pm}3^{\circ}C$. And cooling and heating coefficient of performance in heat pump system are different from setting room temperature and operation condition of equipment, totally in case that the setting temperature in house is low, the coefficient of performance and the in case that temperature departure is low. In case that the house does not heated, the result of the growth characteristic of cucumber planted last 50days is that cucumber grown in house equipped with heat pump is the most favorable growth characteristic due to maintaining a constant room temperature. After 90 days, the quantity and weight cucumber harvested in each house are averagely 9.8%, 13.1% increase and more heavy weight respectively. So it is researched that crop characteristic is superior.

  • A study on waste heat utilization of melted slags at pyorlysis, gasification and melting system was performed. Researchers studied heat balance of substances that flow and flow out to the system which is consisted of melting furnace, combustion chamber, and waste heat boiler, then they calculated melting slags' quantity of heat by the first law of thermodynamics. If they use water cursh pit outflow which is gotten by quenching of melting slag as a energy for heating and cooling system, steam of waste heat boiler would be delivered to a steam turbine, making energy, then they will get 67,671,000 won of profit a year. It will take 3 years to repossess the cost that they invested for building it. And, if we predict durability of trash burner is 20 years, we will get approximately 1,150,407,000 won of profits in 17 years without the period when we repossess the building costs.

  • The objectives of this study are to find out and to analyze the heat transmission characteristics of the conventional and prefabricated Ondol systems. To compare the thermal characteristics of these Ondol, a real sized Ondol model is set in a chamber. Hot water whose temperature is varied from $45^{\circ}C$ to $60^{\circ}C$ with $5^{\circ}C$ interval is supplied to each Ondol system. At that time the temperature distribution of floor surface, the amount of supplied heat, the heat radiation aspect and the heat loss from the floor to the underground are measured and analyzed simultaneously. As a result, even if the supplied hot water temperature to the prefabricated Ondol panel is lower by about $5^{\circ}C$ than that of the conventional Ondol panel, the net radiant effect is same. Heat radiation efficiency of the prefabricated Ondol panel is over 5% better than that of the conventional Ondol panel. It takes 12 hours for the conventional Ondol and 45 minutes for the prefabricated Ondol, respectively to reach steady state.

I think, when treat intestines carbuncle, in case cold and moisture become stasis and heat is less, Uiibujapaedoksan(薏苡附子敗毒散) can be used. Independently of festering, Daehwangmokdantang(大黃收丹湯) can be used in case heat and extravasated blood become stasis.   • Predicting heat transfer from the inner wall of the combustion chamber of the liquid rocket is a very difficult task. Several complex processes, such as convection, radiation and conduction must be taken into consideration. Usually commercial programs are used for the analysis of this processes. However, commercial programs are not a perfect solution, because of the long calculation times and a burdening data-input work. In this study, we developed and implemented one - dimensional thermal analysis. This technique can be easily used on the initial stage. The design of the combustion chamber's cooling channel of the steam generator designed using developed technique. In order to compare experimental and theoretical data, the combustion test was performed. Obtained experimental data for the coolant temperature differ from the theoretical prediction by only 8.5%.

Heat Transfer Characteristics of Fin-Tube Heat Exchanger Coated with FAPO Zeolite Adsorbent at Different Operating Conditions (FAPO 제올라이트 흡착제 코팅을 통한 핀-관 열교환기 운전조건별 열전달 성능특성)

  • In conventional adsorption chamber, adsorbent is embedded in between heat exchanger fins by wire mesh. This method impedes heat and mass transfer efficiency. So in this study, to improve the heat transfer performance of heat exchanger, a fin-tube exchanger was coated with FAPO (Ferroaluminophosphate) zeolite adsorbent. The fin-tube heat exchanger has a fin pitch of 1.8 mm with a variation of adsorbent coating thickness of about 0.1 mm, 0.15 mm and 0.2 mm. By varying cooling water temperature and chilled water temperature respecively, heat transfer rate and overall heat transfer coefficient were investigated. As a result, the heat transfer rate and overall heat transfer coefficient increase with decreasing cooling water temperature and increasing chilled water temperature. Under the basic conditions, the heat transfer rate of heat exchanger with 0.2 mm coating thickness is 11% and 43% higher than that of 0.1 mm and 0.15 mm, respectively. The overall heat transfer coefficient is $189.1W/m^2{\cdot}^{\circ}C$, it is two times lager than that of 0.1 mm.

A Study on the Fire Risk of Car Interior Materials (자동차 내장재의 화재위험성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we have performed several tests for composite plastic materials to be applied on interior materials of a vehicle to identify their combustion characteristics using cone calorimeter, smoke density chamber and toxicity index chamber. We have prepared a total of 12 samples for 4 major parts of a vehicle wherein each major part has 3 different materials. The results of cone calorimeter test showed ignition time of PVC sheet and PVC leather were 2s. The 8 samples showed under less than 10s of ignition time. The sample comprising Nylon and PE had the biggest maximum heat release rate of 635 $kW/m^2$. The sample comprising Rubber showed the smallest maximum heat release rate but with the biggest total heat release. The results of smoke density chamber test showed the sample that is made up with Rubber had the biggest specific optical smoke density. The sample comprising PVC leather and PUR showed the biggest VOF4 which enables the initial smoke production. The results of toxicity index test showed that all samples contained carbon dioxide content exceeding its lethal concentration. The sample comprising PVC showed high content of hydrogen chloride and hydrogen bromide. The PVC sheet showed the biggest toxicity index calculated by using lethal concentration and test results. Toxicity index of all sample wes over 1.
