In this paper, a novel unequal broadband out-of-phase power divider (PD) is presented. Double-sided parallel-strip lines (DSPSLs) are employed to achieve an out-of-phase response. Also, an asymmetric dual-band matching structure with two external isolation resistors is utilized to obtain arbitrary unequal power division, in which the resistors are directly grounded for heat sinking. A through ground via (TGV), connecting the top and bottom sides of the DSPSLs, is used to short the isolation components. Additionally, this property can efficiently improve the broadband matching and isolation bandwidths. To investigate the proposed divider in detail, a set of design equations are derived based on the circuit theory and transmission line theory. The theoretical analysis shows that broadband responses can be obtained as proper frequency ratios are adopted. To verify the proposed concept, a sample divider with a power division of 2:1 is demonstrated. The measured results exhibit a broad bandwidth from 1.19 GHz to 2.19 GHz (59.2%) with a return loss better than 10 dB and port isolation of 18 dB.
The unpredicted worldwide oil price makes the energy efficiency technology be more importance than any other period. The small cogeneration system is one of the most representative technology among the energy efficiency technologies, and recently, the household cogeneration system has been the center object of attention because of the loss of power transmission and the reasonable energy consumption relative to the household (condensing) boiler producing heat only. A tiny, 1kW of electrical output, gas fueled internal combustion engine cogeneration system was investigated. The electrical efficiency and thermal efficiency of the system were measured. With the emission characteristics, the cogeneration system was analyzed. It was showed the gas engine cogeneration system produced the lowest NOx level compared any other cogeneration system due to the three-way catalyst.
AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel is widely used for LNG pipes for LNG transmission thanks to its good metallurgical and mechanical properties. In the present research, impact toughness of a gas tungsten arc welded AISI 304 stainless steel pipe was evaluated between room and liquid nitrogen ($-196^{\circ}C$) test temperatures. In addition, a comparative study was made of the fracture behavior of FCC crystal structured stainless steel weldments and BCC crystal structured mild steels(A-grade and SS400). The results showed a slight decrease in the impact energy of the AISI 304 base metal, heat affected zone(HAZ), and welded zone with decreasing test temperature. In addition, the welded metal has the highest absorbed impact energy, followed by HAZ and the base metal.
The microstructure and hardness of a porcelain fused Au-Pt-Cu-In alloy was investigated using optical microscopy, secondary electron microscopy, electron probe microanalyzer, transmission electron microscope, and vickers hardness. The hardness of the heat-treated Au-Pt-Cu-In quartenary alloy reached a maximum value in 30 min at 550$^{\circ}C$ in the range of 150 to 950$^{\circ}C$. In the aged Au-Pt-Cu-0.5In alloy at 550$^{\circ}C$, the hardness of the alloy rapidly increased until 30min with increasing aging time and after that it was remained nearly constant value. Based on above results, glazing and final aging of the porcelain fused Au-Pt-Cu-0.5In alloy were performed at 920 and 550$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The hardness of Au-Pt-Cu-0.5In alloy glazed at 920$^{\circ}C$ was 90 Hv and that of the alloy aged for 30 min at 550$^{\circ}C$ increased to 160 Hv. This indicates that a ceramic-metal crown with high strength can be manufactured using the glazing at 920$^{\circ}C$ and followed final aging at 550$^{\circ}C$ for 30 min.
Clutch energy is the thermal energy dissipated on the clutch disc, and it reaches its highest level during drive-off as a result of the difference between the angular speeds of the flywheel and clutch disc, and the torque transmitted. The thermal energy dissipated effects the clutch life. This study presents a new drive-off and thermal model to calculate the clutch energy for a rear wheel driven heavy-duty vehicle and to analyze the effects of clutch energy on temperatures of clutch pressure plate, flywheel and clutch housing. Three different driver profiles are used, based on the release of the clutch pedal in modulation zone: i) the pedal travels with the same speed all the way, ii) the travel speed of the pedal increases, iii) the travel speed of the pedal decreases. Vehicle test is performed to check the accuracy of the model. When compared to a simpler model that is widely used in the literature to calculate the clutch energy, the model used in this study calculates the clutch energy and angular speed behaviors of flywheel and transmission input shaft in better agreement with experimental results. Clutch wear and total clutch life are also estimated using the mean specific friction power.
In this study, we suggest the new emitter formation applied solid phase epitaxy (SPE) growth process using rapid thermal process (RTP). Preferentially, we describe the SPE growth of intrinsic a-Si thin film through RTP heat treatment by radio-frequency plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (RF-PECVD). Phase transition of intrinsic a-Si thin films were taken place under $600^{\circ}C$ for 5 min annealing condition measured by spectroscopic ellipsometer (SE) applied to effective medium approximation (EMA). We confirmed the SPE growth using high resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM) analysis. Similarly, phase transition of P doped a-Si thin films were arisen $700^{\circ}C$ for 1 min, however, crystallinity is lower than intrinsic a-Si thin films. It is referable to the interference of the dopant. Based on this, we fabricated 16.7% solar cell to apply emitter layer formed SPE growth of P doped a-Si thin films using RTP. We considered that is a relative short process time compare to make the phosphorus emitter such as diffusion using furnace. Also, it is causing process simplification that can be omitted phosphorus silicate glass (PSG) removal and edge isolation process.
We investigated the structural, electrical and optical characteristics of IGZO thin films deposited by a room-temperature RF reactive magnetron sputtering. The thin films deposited were annealed for 2 hours at various temperatures of 300, 400, 500 and $600^{\circ}C$ and analyzed by using X-ray diffractometer, transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscope and Hall effects measurement system. The films annealed at $600^{\circ}C$ were found to be crystallized and their surface roughness was decreased from 0.73 nm to 0.67 nm. According to XPS measurements, concentration of oxygen vacancies were decreased at $600^{\circ}C$. Optical band gap were increased to 3.31eV. The carrier concentration and Hall mobility were sharply increased at 600oC. Our results indicate that the IGZO films deposited at a room temperature can show better thin film properties through a heat treatment.
In order to prevent the environmental pollution, the dryers are commonly used to treat sludge that one of sewages is polluting the quality of water. Generally, the drying method is various as to the property of material and use. Rotary dryer is a good apparatus to treat them. The rotary dryer is the way that is to make substance transmission and heating using hot air between sludge particles and heated gas. In this paper, we performed a numerical analysis of the inner air flow of the 3-pass rotary dryer through the changing rotational speed from 3rpm to 10rpm. In this result, we found that 3rpm is effective to dry material in terms of heat transfer because large scale velocity fluctuation is occurred inside the first and second drum. Also we confirmed that 5rpm and 8rpm showed up uniform flow at the center area of the first drum.
The microstructural evolution of Grade 91 tempered martensite ferritic steels heat treated at $760{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$ for two hours was investigated using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy disperse spectroscopy(EDS), electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD), and transmission electron microscopy(TEM); a microhardness tester was also employed, with a focus on the grain and precipitate evolution process as well as on the main hardening element. It was found that an evolution of tempered martensite to ferrite($760{\sim}850^{\circ}C$), and to fresh martensite($900{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$), occurred with the increase of temperature. Simultaneously, the parabolic evolution characteristics of the low angle grain boundary(LAGB) increased with the increase of the heating temperature(highest fraction of LAGB at $925^{\circ}C$), indicating grain recovery upon intercritical heating. The main precipitate, $M_{23}C_6$, was found to be coarsened slightly at $760{\sim}850^{\circ}C$; it then dissolved at $850{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$. Besides this, $M_3C$ cementite was formed at $900{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$. Finally, the experimental results show that the hardness of the steel depended largely on the matrix structure, rather than on the precipitates, with the fresh martensite showing the highest hardness value.
Using reverse micelle processing, $ZnAl_2O_4$ nanopowders were synthesized from a mixed precursor(consisting of $Zn(NO_3)_2$ and $Al(NO_3)_3$). The $ZnAl_2O_4$ was prepared by mixing the aqueous solution at a molar ratio of Zn : Al = 1 : 2. The average size and distribution of the synthesized powders with heat treatment at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 h were in the range of 10-20 nm and narrow, respectively. The average size of the synthesized powders increased with increasing water to surfactant molar ratio. The XRD diffraction patterns show that the phase of $ZnAl_2O_4$ was spinel(JCPDS No. 05-0669). The synthesized and calcined powders were characterized using a thermogravimetric - differential scanning calorimeter(TG-DSC), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), and high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM). The effects of the synthesis parameter, such as the molar ratio of water to surfactant, are discussed.
