Motion analysis for control of a 2-DOF horse riding robot (2자유도 승마로봇 제어를 위한 동작특성분석)

  • This paper analyzes the motion of a horseback riding robot which has two actuators and three joints. It is impossible to control the saddle to get to any position and orientation using the two motors because the robot has less degrees of freedom than the number of joints. Therefore it is required to know the possible location and orientation along with the velocity characteristics of each pose prior to motion planning. For this purpose, this paper analyzes the characteristics of the robot motion. The authors derive the forward and inverse kinematics of the robot motion and developed the trajectory editor for motion planning. Also, Jacobian of the robot is analyzed. It reveals that one of the actuator has little influence to the speed of the saddle motion while the other affects the speed of the saddle motion dominantly. The approach of the paper can be applied for the analysis of characteristics of a robot which has less number of actuators than that of joints.

A Disital Siver Care for the Health and Rehabilitation of the Elderly (노인 건강과 재활을 위한 디지털 실버케어)

  • This study introduces trends on silver care implemented with the fourth industrial revolution technology, and discusses the use of digital technology for elderly health and rehabilitation by reviewing relevant literature to examine and present directions for future digital-based silver care commercialization. First, health smart home, which is a smart residential service available through digital technology or IT technology that supports independent living in your home, is available. Second, there are technical services using artificial intelligence(AI) and robots. Robots based on advanced intelligence can serve as an assistant for the health and rehabilitation of senior citizens by supporting services that enable the daily lives of senior, checking their health conditions, and high-quality medical care. For the commercialization of these silver care systems, information and services appropriate to the current situation, such as the physical ability and health status of the elderly, should be provided, and it would be desirable to gradually expand the use of essential technology to reflect the needs of the elderly in use so that the digital alienated.

  • This study focuses on investigating and exploring solutions to problems related to the increase in the elderly population in modern society where aging is rapidly progressing. With the advent of an aging society the elderly population requires more attention and support. In response companies are attempting to provide elder care services using AI and robotic technology. These services can assist seniors not only with health management and daily life care but also with emotional health aspects. This paper analyzes various elder-related technologies available in the current market investigates their pros and cons and potential for development. The paper concludes that companies need to develop and provide more AI and robot-based elder care services to solve aging problems. Such services can alleviate social and emotional issues in an aging society enhancing the quality of life for seniors.

  • Malignancy-associated mortality, decreased productivity, and spiritual, social and physical burden in cancer patients and their families impose heavy costs on communities. Therefore cancer prevention, early detection, rapid diagnosis and timely treatment are very important. Use of modern methods based on information technology in cancer can improve patient survival and increase patient and health care provider satisfaction. Robot technology is used in different areas of health care and applications in surgery have emerged affecting the cancer treatment domain. Computerized and robotic devices can offer enhanced dexterity by tremor abolition, motion scaling, high quality 3D vision for surgeons and decreased blood loss, significant reduction in narcotic use, and reduced hospital stay for patients. However, there are many challenges like lack of surgical community support, large size, high costs and absence of tactile and haptic feedback. A comprehensive view to identify all factors in different aspects such as technical, legal and ethical items that prevent robotic surgery adoption is thus very necessary. Also evidence must be presented to surgeons to achieve appropriate support from physicians. The aim of this review article is to survey applications, opportunities and barriers to this advanced technology in patients and surgeons as an approach to improve cancer care.

  • The report of the Korean National Statistics Office shows that Korea has been emerging as an elderly society rapidly, and it will burden the Korean society with excessive social welfare cost for the aged in the near future. If we can help the aged to live healthy in some ways, the social burden for the health care of the aged will be lessened. In order to help physical and mental health of the elderly person, we have developed an exercise apparatus called intelligent arm wrestling machine system. This paper presents the mechanism and scenario of the proposed intelligent arm wrestling machine system. The proposed mechanism and scenario are peculiar. In particular, the proposed scenario determines randomly who will win between the man and the robot and generates a game process that the arm-wrestler cannot predict in advance.

  • This paper describes the control of a health care robot (called Welfare Liferobot) with voice commands. The welfare liferobot is an intelligent autonomous mobile robot with its own control system on-board and the set of sensors to perceive an environment.   • Busan Metropolitan City runs Community Health Center which aims to health care service based on the community, besides the established health medical service towards people with low-income. 71 centers are run in 2021, therefore, this papear explores the way of digital transition of these centers. Digital Technologies possibly adopted inside the centers are: First, smart devices to advance the management system of chronical diseases based on health index; Second, IoT with mobile tech to manage health index; Third, AI Robot to care lone elderly people and to warn the emergency.

  • This study was conducted using non-face-to-face care technology for the elderly with mild dementia and the physically weak living in the community, as various methods of care for the elderly have been raised due to the prolonged COVID-19. The purpose of this study is a similar experimental study before and after the inequality control group to compare cognitive function, daily living activities, and the degree of depression by applying an AI robot integrated management program using. The data was collected from June 4 to September 17, 2021, and the survey results of 17 people in the experimental group and 18 in the control group were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of the study, the experimental group was significant in language function, activities of daily living, and depression. In particular, the results showed a decrease in moderate to severe depression and mild depression. Cognitive function was significant with long-term care grade and daily living activity with family living together. Therefore, if such non-face-to-face care technology is introduced to the elderly care field in the 'With Corona era', it is thought that it will contribute to cognitive function training and depression reduction of the elderly.

  • We develope a riding robot system named as "RideBot" for health-care and entertainments. An algorithm for estimating riding position and volition is proposed by using bio-signals. We analyze the riding position and volition in real-horse riding environments and build up the database. With this database and sensor informations, standard positions are made. For the volition estimation, we use the acceleration and deceleration sensor information and bridle information for direction change. We propose a hybrid control algorithm in which discrete-state and continuous-state controls are combined. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm is evaluated thru various experiments.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how voice recognition technology can be utilized to solve the elderly problem rapidly aging in Korea. Public support services and civilian nursing services for the elderly are expected to expand in Korea. In this case, voice recognition technology can be used variously for the elderly who are not familiar with the media interface. To this end, our researchers visited Japan and examined the achievements obtained by voice recognition technology in the elderly care. Especially, when caregivers write reports, they have greatly reduced their working hours by replacing the handwritten reports with ones using voice recognition technology. This method can be easily implemented in Korea. In addition, the social cost of the elderly support can be gradually reduced through the development of a robot equipped with voice recognition technology. Consequently, we realize that when voice recognition technology is combined with artificial intelligence programs of various emotion recognition functions and various policy possibilities as well.
