The purpose of this study was to examine the oral health awareness and oral health care of health-related and health-unrelated majors in an attempt to stress the importance of oral health education and boost the efficiency of oral health care. The subjects in this study were 363 college students. Out of the selected students, 174 were health-related majors, and 189 weren't. After a survey was conducted, the collected data were analyzed for the purpose of comparison, and the following findings were given: 1. Concerning daily mean toothbrushing frequency, the largest number of the male students who accounted for 55.2 percent brushed their teeth once a day on average, and the greatest number of the female students who represented 52.9 percent did that twice a day. As for the influence of their major, the largest group of the health-related majors who numbered 89(51.1%) brushed their teeth twice a day, and the greatest group of the health-unrelated majors who numbered 93(49.2%) did that once a day. The gaps between them were statistically significant(p<0.05). 2. As to the length of toothbrushing time by gender, it took more than two or three minutes for the largest groups of the male and female students that respectively numbered 96(76.8%) and 184(77.3%) to do toothbrushing(p<0.01). The greatest groups of the male and female students that respectively numbered 72(57.6%) and 183(76.9%) brushed their teeth after meals. 3. In regard to oral hygiene supplies, the largest groups of the health-related and health-unrelated majors that respectively numbered 78(44.8%) and 115(60.8%) had chewing gum and candy with them. As to the use of oral hygiene supplies, 99 health-related majors(56.9%) and 133 health-unrelated majors(70.4%) didn't put oral hygiene supplies to use. Thus, the use of oral hygiene supplies was statistically less common among the health-unrelated majors, and the gap between the two was significant(p<0.01). 4. As for health-related concern by gender, the largest group of the male students that numbered 56(44.8%) showed the most interest in preventing dental caries, and the greatest group of the female students that numbered 103(43.3%) were most concerned about tooth whitening. The gap between the male and female students was statistically significant(p<0.05), but the track of their major made no statistically significant difference to that. 5. Regarding the experience and awareness of scaling, the largest number of the students never got their teeth scaled regardless of gender and major, and the greatest group didn't care about scaling irrespective of gender and major, either, though they considered it advisable to do.
This study aims to the effects for researching on dental treatment of related to the major of University students. Regarding the study results, female students took 4.63 times(health-related major) and 2.56 times(health-unrelated major) more than male students for dental treatments. On the other hand if they think their gum health is subjectively good enough they relatively took only 0.92 times(health-related) and 0.39 times(health-unrelated) than students who do not. Depending on the major the result of the dental treatment are different. Based on this study the dental treatment of convergence oral health education program for student of health-unrelated major shall be developed. Through this it is will have to be well-organized and correct oral knowledg that shoud be acquire appropriate dental treatments.
The aim of this study was a comparative study on the oral health behaviors of Health-Related and Health-Unrelated Majors in school. This cross-sectional study included 2,788 students(1,536 males and 1,252 females)(670 Health-Related Majors and 2,119 Health-Unrelated Majors). A self-administered questionnaire was distributed. The proportion of toothbrushes portable according to the majors were as follows: health-related majors 473(70.6%) from 670 students and health-unrelated majors 770(36.4%) from 2,118 students. And, oral health behaviors(tooth brushing in school, use of dental floss or interdental brushes and after drinking of tooth) were better in carrying a toothbrush group than no-carrying group. The above-mentioned findings showed more intensive oral-health education should be provided for health-related and health-unrelated majors college students to promote their oral health state.

The purpose of this study was to examine relation of oral health awareness, knowledge and behavior in department dental hygiene, health-related majors and health-unrelated majors in attempt to provide basic data of oral health promotion and oral health education. This study were 591 female H university students in Gwangju. The interests of oral health, the recognition of importance for oral health, and recognition of one's own oral health status were highest in dental hygiene students, followed by health-unrelated majors and health-related majors. The level of oral health knowledge by the major was highest in dental hygiene students(9.73), followed by health-related majors(9.14) and health-unrelated majors(9.05). In the oral health behavior by major, students who brushed more than three times a day, used the oral care products and received regular dental examinations within 1 year were the highest in the dental hygiene major, followed by health-related majors and health-unrelated majors. The experience of scaling within 1 year was the highest in the dental hygiene major, followed by health-related majors and health-unrelated majors. The higher the oral health knowledge, increased awareness of oral health concern and the importance of oral health. Also, the higher the degree of interest in oral health, the greater the recognition that oral health is important and the more the oral health condition is perceived as healthy, It was found that the number of brushing increased. In this results, the higher the oral health knowledge, the higher the oral health awareness and the oral health behavior. It is necessary to find ways to develop or utilize various oral health education for university students.

Background & Objectives: The purpose of this study was to offer basic materials for the correct comprehension of dementia and of health education needs by comparing the students' recognition level of dementia. Methods: Three health major departments(the department of nursing science, physical therapy and occupational therapy) and three non-health major departments(the department of English, early childhood education and biology) were randomized in universities. And the 180 juniors students involved in this study and their level of educational experience and of recognition of dementia was analyzed. Results: There weas no difference about recognition of social welfare services between the students of health departments and non-health departments, but there were differences between them about other health education needs. Conclusion: Students of non-health majors who learn the subjects unrelated to dementia should get an education on dementia so that they can understand and recognize health education needs on dementia.
This study was to examine relation of oral health knowledge and oral health behavior, targeting university students who major in health-related majors 198 students and health-unrelated majors 203 students. Oral health behavior by general characteristics appears most highest junior and senior sophomore, health-related major, regular dental check-up, dental education experience. 'It is effective in preventing bad breath brushing the tongue when brushing' of oral health knowledge reached 94.5% most highest. The health-related is high 'fluoride helps to prevent cavities.' 'Brushing tongue' of oral health behavior is most highest average 4.20. The health-related is high 'I know the brushing method that's right for me, and enforcement' and 'I am regular scaling for periodontal disease prevention'. To identify influence that general characteristics and oral health knowledge to oral health behavior, regression analysis result Y(oral health behavior)=2.692+0.377(regular dental check-up)+0.145(rental education experience)+ 0.215(method of oral health education)+0.045(oral health knowledge) was come out. Therefore, university students need to improve their oral health, structuring environment where information about oral health is reached out easily.
The study was designed to provide the fundamental information for understanding discomfort of bone marrow donors and for promoting an individual comfort by comparing the difference on discomfort between unrelated donors and related donors. The subject of the study was fifty related donors and thirty unrelated donors who was in the C University Hospital. This survey had been carried out and collected from October, 1998 to March, 1999. The scale of discomfort of donors associated with bone marrow donation were assessed by the questionnaire deviced by Kim Sang Dol and amended by the researcher. Data was analyzed by $x^2-test$, t-test, two-way ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation Coefficients. The results were as follows. 1. Considering the general characteristics of bone marrow donors according to gender, male was consisted of $60\%$ and female was consisted of $40\%$. Of those related donors are consisted for $62.5\%$ and accounted for $37.5\%$ of those unrelated donors. Considering the classification to the job, employee of company were major donors which was $35\%$, and next order was student, individual businessman, and housewife. Considering the education level. college students were $48.7\%$ and students who have less than high school level were $42.5\%$. 2. According to the above the results regarding discomfort of bone marrow donation, it is especially shown that the major cause for discomfort of bone marrow donors is on physical factor. The concrete examples for physical factor are pain in the region of bone marrow harvest and pain in the injection part by fluid therapy and blood-sampling, an immovability of the body after bone marrow harvest, and difficulties on walking. Considering physiological factor, there are an uneasiness about leading to injure their health, vague fear about the hospital. and a tedium at hospital. Environmental factors for discomfort of bone marrow donors are insufficient explanation for needle gauge and procedure of bone marrow donation and difficulty on following medical schedule. Therefore. it is necessary to establish more effective and systematically organized program for nursing intervention based on the research results. An effective program is only useful in getting rid of discomfort of bone marrow donors.
Several lines of evidence suggest that MUC5AC genetic polymorphisms might confer susceptibility to H. pylori infection and therefore gastric cancer risk. We here assessed the association of common polymorphisms in the MUC5AC gene with H. pylori seroprevalence using an LD-based tagSNP approach in a north-western Chinese Han population. A total of 12 tagSNPs were successfully genotyped among 281 unrelated ethnic Han Chinese who had no cancer history, and no identifiable gastric disease or genetic disease. No significant association between any alleles, genotypes or haplotypes and H. pylori seroprevalence was observed. Our results suggest that common genetic variations in MUC5AC gene might not make a major contribution to the risk of H. pylori infection.
A body dysmorphic disorder refers to a state that individuals whose external appearance is normal consider their appearance to be meta-morphosed, or think there's something wrong with it, or view a trifle deficiency as severely disfigured. The purpose of this study was to examine the body dysmorphic disorder and depression of health-related and health-unrelated majors in an effort to compare the two groups. And it's also meant to investigate the relationship between body dysmorphic disorder and depression. The subjects in this study were 400 students at K college located in Gangwon Province. Out of them, the major of the 200 students belonged to the health science track, and that of the 200 students didn't. After a self-administered survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 319 respondents were analyzed. As a result, there appeared no differences between the health-related majors and the health-unrelated majors in body dysmorphic disorder. Although there might be various factors to concern body dysmorphic disorder, both groups found themselves to suffer from more depression when they had a severer body dysmorphic disorder, and their body dysmorphic disorder exerted a statistically significant influence on their self-rated depression. Therefore the careful management of body dysmorphic disorder was required, and it's especially needed to make research in that of health-related majors. At the same time, more detailed clinical research efforts should be directed into body dysmorphic disorder and self-rated depression.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition of the infection routes, symptoms and treatments of HBV by students of health-related departments so as to help students learn correct knowledge about hepatitis B and provide the basic data for establishment of oral health policies to prevent hepatitis B and improve the quality of infection management. For the subjects of this study, 666 students of health-related departments and other departments of universities in Daegu City, Gyeongbuk Province were arbitrarily chosen and given a questionnaire. Then the questionnaires collected between October 1st and 31st, 2007 were analyzed. Major findings from this study are summarized below. 1. Regarding general characteristics of the subjects, 311 were students of health-related departments and 355 were students of other departments. 55.9% of the health-related department students and 49.0% of the other department students received immunization against hepatitis. 36.0% of the health-related department students and 31.6% of the other department students had antibodies. 2. Regarding the recognition of the infection routes of HBV, the right answer "Infected through placenta" was chosen by more juniors(94.4%), sophomores(93.8%) and freshmen(74.1%) of health-related departments than other students in this order (P<0.05). The answer "Infected through sexual intercourse" was chosen by the highest percentage(75.0%) of juniors followed by freshmen(69.2%) and sophomores(31.9%) (P<0.05). 3. The percentages of health-related department students who knew that "HBV can develop into hepatic cirrhosis or liver cirrhosis were the highest among juniors(88.9%), freshmen(87.7%) and sophomores(68.8%) in this order(P<0.05). Among the other department students, the percentages of right answers to the question "Acute HBV infection shows jaundice" were the highest among juniors(75.0%), sophomores(74.8%) and freshmen(58.7%)(P<0.05).
