Objectives : This study tried to examine whether there is any difference between the middle-aged men and women in terms of the effect of health-related and oral health-related characteristics on their depressive symptoms (PHQ-9). Methods : We used the 2nd year data of the 6th session of the National Health and Nutrition Survey of 2,008 adults(aged40~64 years) for fulfilling the research objectives. Results : The analysis showed that among middle-aged male and female respondents, household income, subjective health conditions, and stress perception among health-related characteristics had common elements affecting their depressive symptoms. The self-reported oral health conditions affected depressive symptoms for male respondents. On the other hand, chewing problems and contraction of periodontal disease affected depressive symptoms of female respondents. Conclusions : Thus, it is necessary to consider the effect of sex in the relationship between health-related and oral health-related characteristics, and to make efforts to develop differential programs to manage and prevent depressive symptoms among men and women.

Purpose: This study was aimed to identify the health related quality of life(HRQoL) by job characteristics and its predictors in Korean adult women. Methods: This study used data from cross-sectional surveys conducted for the 2005 National Health and Nutrition Survey, which was performed by using a face-to-face interview method. The data were analyzed by ANOVA, t-test and multiple regression using the SPSS program. Demographic characteristics, subject health state, EQ-5D were included in the study instruments. Results: The mean HRQoL index in the subjects was $0.792{\pm}0.102$. There were significant statistical differences on HRQoL among job characteristics. The health related quality of life of non-physical workers was the highest. The significant predictors of the HRQoL of all subjects were the subjective health status, the present health status compared to the previous year, education, age, marital status and income. The factors accounted for 22.1% of variance in the health related quality of life and the predictors of the HRQoL among job characteristics were different. Conclusion: These results may contribute to development of nursing strategy to improve female health related quality of life. The health related quality of life program for adult women by job characteristics is advised based on results of the study.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate cognitive function decline by socio-demographic and health-related characteristics (health behaviors and health status) using 5th Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging panel data. Methods: The subjects were 4,440 community-dwelling people aged over 57 years. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, χ²-test, and binary logistic regression analysis using SPSS ver. 25.0. Results: The findings revealed that socio-demographic characteristics (gender, age, area of residence, educational level, marital status, number of children, number of grand-children) and health-related characteristics (smoking, drinking, regular exercise, weight category by body mass index, hypertension and diabetes mellitus) were factors that influenced cognitive function decline (p<.05). Conclusions: Cognitive function decline was closely related to health behaviors and disease types. Future studies must examine related constructs to accurately determine these relationships among various populations. The present study could be used as a tool for the development and implementation of health promotion and prevention strategies.

In order to evaluate the erects of regular health education by a school nurse on a child's health-related knowledge and health-related behavior, a questionnaire survey was conducted with primary school students (4th, 5th, 6th grade) from December 5 to December 15, 1998. Subjects of the study were composed of two groups; one group who had regular health education by a school nurse and the other group who had no regular health education by a school nurse. The results obtained from the data analysis were as follows: 1. There was no significant difference in general characteristics between broth groups, but significant difference in parent-related characteristics and health-related characteristics were detected. 2. The health-related knowledge score was 21.98 in the regular health education group and 21.04 in the control group. There was significant differences between both groups (p<0.05). 3. Significant differences in the practice of health-related behaviors were detected between both groups (p<0.05). 4. The variables associated with the practice of health-related behaviors were regular health education, health-related knowledge, the education level of the mother, ignorance of health and parent's concern about the child's health (p<0.05). 5. The practice of regular health education was significantly related to the prevention of communicable disease, concern about health and total health behavior (p<0.05). From the above results, it can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between regular health education and the practice of health-related behavior after controlling other variables. According to the results, suggestions are as follows; 1. Evaluation of health-related knowledge and behaviors be conducted by the school nurse on pre and post-education. 2. The primary school student can be educated about health by the school nurse.

This thesis aimed examine the relationship between the health characteristics (musculoskeletal, respiratory, skin, digestive, nervous mental system) of cosmetologists and their demographic, health management, and working environment characteristics to help cosmetologists maintain a healthy work life while solving health problems. These research was carried out via survey and statistics analysis. A total of 279 cosmetologists living in Seoul, Kyeongkido, and Choongchungdo from 8 July to 30 August, 2014 were surveyed. Frequency, mean, factor, and regression analysis were carried out on the data with SPSS(V. 14). The results were as follows; (1) a relationship between health & the demographic characteristics of gender was found;- (2) health and the health management characteristics of interest in health problem prevention, active exterior health support, muscular exercise, interior health support, and stress management were found to be related;- (3) health and working the environment characteristics of working time per day, and work days per week were related.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine factors influencing health-related quality of life of waged workers. Methods: This study used data from the Seventh Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Data were analyzed with the $x^2-test$, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The significant predictors of health-related quality of life were depression, subjective health status, age, activity limitation, education, worker status, monthly income, drinking, smoking, physical injury, stress, and moderate physical activity. Conclusions: Personal health characteristics, psychological characteristics, socioeconomic characetrictics and working characetrictics affect health-related quality of life. Health-related quality of life is also affected by social structural problems such as socioeconomic factors and employment instabilitye. In addition to the development of health care programs to improve health-related quality of life of twaged workers, policy changes are needed to improve the social structure.

Objectives : This study has attempted to investigate subjective oral health awareness, oral health behavior and analyze how the results are correlated with oral health-related quality of life against middle school students. Methods : A self-administered questionnaire survey was performed against 552 students from three middle schools in Changwon. A frequent analysis was conducted on research subjects' general characteristics, oral health awareness, oral health behavior. In addition, t-test and ANOVA were carried out to analyze oral health-related quality of life by the general characteristics, oral health awareness and oral health behavior. Results : In terms of oral health-related quality of life by general characteristics, the quality of life on oral symptoms was higher at lower school grades (p<0.05). In terms of social welfare, oral health-related quality of life was higher as parents' monthly income increased (p<0.05). Oral health-related quality of life was high in oral symptoms when there was no interest in oral health, in functional limitation, emotional welfare and social welfare when there is some oral health-related knowledge (p<0.05) and in all sub categories when oral conditions are healthy (p<0.05). Conclusions : The results of this study has come up with important information for improvement of oral health-related quality of life in middle school students by investigating the correlations between oral health awareness and oral health-related quality of life.

Background: Emergency workers such as firefighters are cataloged within the most demanding and injurious professions globally. Considering the health and safety implications in firefighting, a lot of research needs to be conducted to examine how firefighters' task characteristics and their work demand influence the development of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). This study therefore examines how the task characteristics of firefighters moderates the relationship between their work demand and the development of WMSDs. Methods: Convenient sampling was employed to select 320 firefighters in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression. Results: The findings revealed that work demand and task characteristics have significant positive effects on WMSDs. Again, the task characteristics of firefighters moderates the relationship between their work demand and WMSDs. Conclusion: Since the study shows that task characteristics influences the relationship between work demand and WMSDs, it is vital for managers to constantly modify the nature of tasks performed by and work demand of emergency workers to minimize the development of WMSDs and other industrial health complications.

Objectives: This study aimed to identify the relationships of oral and systemic health-related characteristics with health-related quality of life (EQ-5D) in the elderly, and factors related to quality of life were compared according to age subgroups classified as either younger (young-old) or older (old-old) than 75 years of age. Methods: Data acquired by the Sixth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES) from 2013 to 2015 were used, and the research target was 3,124 people aged 65 years or older. A complex samples general linear model was used to identify health-related quality of life factors. Results: Education, economic activity, depression, stress, regular walking, self-rated oral health, pronunciation problems, and unmet dental care had significant effects on quality of life in both young-old and old-old participants. Marriage, income, number of systemic diseases, sleeping, and chewing inconveniences were significant factors for the young-old but not in the old-old participants. Instead, obesity and drinking were identified as significant factors in the old-old participants. Conclusions: We reaffirmed that factors affecting health-related quality of life in older adults differed by age group. We also confirmed the impact of oral health-related characteristics on this quality. Therefore, to improve quality of life for older adults, it would be efficient to divide groups by age and develop and implement programs that take relevant factors into consideration.

Objectives : This study analyzed the effect of health-related characteristics of middle-aged and elderly people on the number of existing permanent teeth by considering each age group through the improvement of health-related characteristics. This study contributes by offering fundamental information on the prevention of dental diseases and on developing an education program that can be used by dental health businesses to improve dental health. Methods : This study used primitive data of the sixth term of the first year and the second year and selected a total of 4,393 people as the final research subject. In order to determine the factors that influence the number of existing natural teeth, confounding factors were considered, and regression analysis using general linear models was done. Results : According to the results of this research, the middle-aged and elderly groups have more existing permanent teeth in the following three cases: 1. Talking is comfortable when daily brushing frequency is 3 times or more. 2. Self-recognition of dental health condition is good. 3. Number of dental caries present in permanent teeth is low. Conclusions : For a and medical system, a dental health care system that takes into consideration the lifespans of people must be legislated and implemented.
