The concentrations of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) in the ambient air were measured at various point(Source, source boundary) in Seongseo industrial complex during May to November 2003. Air samples were collected in Silcocan canister $(1{\ell},\;6{\ell})$ and analyzed using a cryogenic preconcentration system and GC/MSD. We identified 37 species by the US EPA(TO-14 method). The result showed a variety distribution of the concentration, Higher concentrations of BTX, Styrene, 1,3,5-Trimethylbenzene, 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene were observed at the sampling sites. They seemed to be emitted from the facility of wastewater treatment, reaction tank of chemistry factory and facility of Tenter. The concentrations of VOCs contents in Seongseo industrial complex were generally higher than those in Yeosu complex and Ulsan complex, although those were similar in SihwaBanwol complex.
Recent public concern about air pollution caused by swine production facilities has forced to develop the methods to reduce and control the swine odors. Swine odors were affected the life of pig farm neighborhoods, swine productivity, pig health, diseases, and human right, safety, sanity as negatively. The first approaches of control of swine odors are the change or improve of the classical management systems, which are manure treatment method, manure storage facility, phase feeding, sex-divided feeding, feeder type, liquid-slurry feeding, environment control of swine building and dust control of indoor swine facility. The methods to control odor emission from manure have to include the diet modification as nutritional basis. In recent, research emphasis has focused on manipulating the swine diet to increase the nutrient utilization of the diet to reduce excretion products and reduction of odors. There are lots of feed additives and pit additives introduced as practical basis for reducing odor emissions. The ozone treatment method is candidate as the good system for reducing swine odor. But this system is still too expensive to practice in present.
Emission characteristics from charbroiling of four different meats (beef, port, duck and chicken) in a pilot-scale cooking facility were investigated in this study. The analyzed air pollutants include gaseous species (CO, NO, $SO_2$, $NH_3$ and PAHs) as well as particulate matters (TSP, $PM_{10}$, $PM_{2.5}$ and black carbon). The emission factors of $PM_{10}$ and PAHs were in the range of 3~47 g-PM/kg-meat and 0.6~11.41 mg-PAHs/kg-meat, respectively, depending on the type of a meat. In addition, the results also revealed that the high ratio of $PM_{2.5}$ to TSP in a meat charbroiling should be considered to design and to operate air pollution control devices.
This study was conducted to identify the appropriate space requirements for forest healing program for physical and mental health care of female cancer survivors in their 40s and 60s. From September to November 2023, 12 cancer survivors were surveyed at Chungnam National University Forest and Daejeon Healing Forest. One Forest Therapy instructor and two researchers conducted a forest healing program once a week for eight sessions of two hours each, Perceptions and satisfaction with the program and space were assessed using pre and post program questionnaires, and the effect of participation in the forest healing program on mood status was evaluated. The satisfaction survey results were supplemented by qualitative studies conducted through post-interviews. Result of the analysis showed that the satisfaction of the participants was very high (4.8/5.0). There was a notable increase in vigor and a decrease in total mood disturbance after participation in the program. Toilets and water facilities (11), tool boxes (9), pest control facilities (3), deck facilities (3), forest hut (3), electrical outlets (2), shade shelters (2), and shoe hairy (1) were proposed as required facilities for cancer survivors. This study demonstrated that the forest healing program is effective in reducing distress in female cancer survivors in their 40s and 60s and appropriate facility standards for the forest healing space are needed to increase the satisfaction of cancer survivors.
The physical environment is one of several service characteristics that are important contributors to service quality. As far as public service buildings, public community facilities serve as arenas for education, social interaction, leisure, and health activities for community districts. The purpose of this study was to investigate the physical state of public community facilities and use of public community facilities in Seoul and Suwon and to identify expectations of users toward the physical environment and service aspects. Site visits to four public community facilities were conducted and surveys were distributed for this study, with one hundred ninety two questionnaires analyzed. Results suggest that in order to provide more equal benefits and service to the public, cities should provide several smaller instead of one large complex community facility. Additionally, facility users indicated large gaps between their expectations and the current state of facilities due to lack of storage, noise and difficulty of use. In general, physical characteristics should be improved rather than employee's attitudes and service behaviors, resulting in greater service quality.
Among various service characteristics, the physical environment is one of important contributors to service quality. In public service buildings, public community facilities serve as arena for education, social interaction, leisure, health activities for community districts. The purpose of this study is to investigate the physical state of public community facilities and expectations of users toward physical environment and service aspects. Site visits to four public community facilities and survey method were conducted for this study. One hundred ninety two questionnaires were analyzed. It is found that the majority of users are housewives and live near the community facilities. In order to provide more equal benefits and service to the public, it is suggested that smaller facilities should be provided in several sites instead of providing a large complex community facility to one area. Facility users indicated larger gaps between expectation and current state of the facilities regarding lack of storage, noise and ease to use. In general, physical characteristics should be more improved than employee's attitude and service behavior, which result in service quality.
This study is understanding characteristics and analyzing contributions of the odor causing compounds of complex-odor & major specified odor materials, and contribution analysis, caused pre-treatment facilities(input and storage) and post-treatment facilities(heating and drying). The target of this study is feeds-production-facilities, located in Seoul. The averaged complex-odor compounds on the boundary line is 21 times higher, and it is 15 times higher than emission standards. In cracking&collection(pre-treatment facilities), the concentration of compounds is 4,881 times, 2,080 times in drying, and 1,442 times in putting&storing facilities. Ammonia occupies the largest portion of the results of monitoring specified odor compounds in input&storage facilities, followed Acetaldehyde > Hydrogen sulfide > Methyl mercaptan. In cracking&collection, Ammonia also occupies most of odor compounds, followed Methyl mercaptan > Acetaldehyde > Dimethyl disulfide > Dimethyl sulfide > Hydrogen sulfide. Acetaldehyde > Methyl mercaptan in drying facilities. On the boundary line, however, the concentration of specified odor compounds stays below emission standards. The result of contribution analysis is that methyl mercaptan has the highest contribution in input & storage, as well as cracking&collection facilities, followed Acetaldehyde > Hydrogen sulfide > Dimethyl sulfide > Dimethyl disulfide. In the drying facilities, the contribution shows Methyl mercaptan > Acetaldehyde > i-Valeraldehyde and Butyraldehyde. Therefore, to decrease odor in foodwaste treatment facilities, proper prevention facilities need to be installed and operated, according to characteristics of individual odor compounds, based on monitored data.
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data in order to improve the quality of charged recuperation facilities which are specialized in the old. after finding out the satisfaction degree for the services which are provided in the current charged recuperation facilities specialized in the old and surveying the services which are demanded by users. As for the research method. the subjects were 88 family members of the users in the five charged recuperation facilities, which are specialized in the old and located in Seoul and Incheon. The survey research was executed from 27th July to 15th September, 2002. Then the collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS 10.0 for windows program. The research results are as follows. Firstly, in the satisfaction degree of the user's family about the daily service showed the highest satisfaction degree for the kind service of the staff to the users. In the satisfaction degree about the specialized service of the user's family, the satisfaction degree was high in bedsore prevention, periodical health care, proper medical treatment, family counsel, and adequate disease management. In the satisfaction degree about the facility and environmental service, the satisfaction degree about the surrounding environment of the facility or safety facility, and the comfort condition was high. In the satisfaction degree about the services related to the local society, it was high in the hospital and medical-related field. Secondly, in the demanded services, the demanding degree for worship, mental and spiritual nursing, hospice, funeral service, family meeting, and support for the special vehicle were not so high, but it was shown that they were generally demanded. Thirdly, it was shown that the provided services had an overall high satisfaction degree. In the service satisfaction degree according to the general characteristics of the user's family, it was recognized that there was a significant difference between the distinction of sex and local society related services. Also, there was a significant difference in the satisfaction degree between age and specialized service. Through the above research results, detailed rehabilitation programs such as linguistic treatment and working treatment should be more and more compensated in order to supplement the insufficient points of the services provided by the charged recuperation facility specialized in the old. Additionally, the correlation with the local society such as education and training for specialized human labor, close cooperation among the facilities, and positive participation in local society events are thought to be reinforced.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the development of health and safety programs by examining child-care teacher's knowledge, self-confidence and practice concerning the health and safety of children under their care. The results suggest that health and safety education program should be provided systematically and continuously for child care teachers.
There are little program and services that have been developed to address the health and health care needs of vulnerable women. The access for their timely and appropriate health care and health promotion services have been a increasing concern. The purpose of this study was to suggest health promotion program for vulnerable women with collaboration of women's NGOs. At the first part of this study, we reviewed a conceptual framework for identifying vulnerable population, and issues regarding health problems, unmet needs, policies and programs that have been developed to address their need. In second part, we focused on investigating the role, subjects and activities of women's NGOs and their capacity for health promotion program. The last part of this study proposed health promotion programme with integrating above two parts of study. In describing what type of health promotion program available in women's NCOs, eight major programs and services were summarized. 1. Direct health promotion program and collaborating program with other services. 2. Education and training for empowerment of vulnerable women 3. Organizing mutual support system such as self-help group 4. Community supports. Vulnerable women living at home may benefit from linkage to community services as much as women living in facility 5. Organizing collaboration system with program for economic support and job training, social rehabilitation 6. Trainer's training for practitioners in NGOs 7. Technical, informational support from professional groups 8. A national coordinating policies for vulnerable population should be established at the central level. National support for NGOs' health promotion program are needed hi solving unmet needs of vulnerable women.
