There was a significant difference in knowledge and attitude on oral health according to the interest level in oral health and also in knowledge on oral health according to self-rate oral health status. According to utilization of oral health product and scaling knowledge and attitude level on oral health were different significantly. Conclusions: Knowledge and attitude of adolescent are necessary to be improved and changed in some topics of oral health through oral health education.

Method : Participants were 2,196 adolescents who live in Seosan with an average age of 12.2. Data was collected using a self administrated questionnaire from April 10 through June 10, 2011. Results : The knowledge of periodontal disease of the subjects was $2.46{\pm}1.52$ and the attitude was $1.88{\pm}1.11$. It appears that knowledge and attitude concerning periodontal and dental health among young Korean 12-year-old adolescents living in Seosan city are in need of improvement. The knowledge and attitude were significantly higher in high group than low group of income. The knowledge and attitude toward periodontal and dental health was positively related to dental health behaviors. Conclusion : Based on the findings, dental health behaviors are strongly associated with knowledge and attitude toward periodontal and dental health. This result suggest that the implementation of oral health promotion should be considered for various factors related to attitude of oral health in adolescents.

  • There is no doubt that the school health education in school health services is the most important component. But the concept and scope of the school health education is still not recognized and accepted satisfactorily in Korea. It is generally accepted that health education is a process of changing of attitude and behavior forward health practice. The term attitude refers to certain regularities on the part of an individual in feelings, thoughts, and predispositions to act toward some aspect of his environment. Attitudes have three components: affective, cognitive, and behavioral. The strategies of attitude change in school health education consist of incentive, justification, and coersion. In this study I explained reinforcement and motivation as the strategies of attitude change. The attitude change is not built in a day. When the teachers give the pupils knowledge, comprehension, or skill through school health education proper to each stage, then the attitude change will be realized.

  • The purpose of this study was to measuring the effects of health involvement, attitude, perceived behavioral control (PBC), behavioral intention on seafood consumption. A total of 235 questionnaires were completed. Structural equation model was used to measure the causal relationships among constructs. Results of the study demonstrated that the structural analysis result for the data also indicated excellent model fit. The direct effect of health involvement on attitude was statistically significant. The direct effects of health involvement, attitude and PBC on consumption were statistically significant. As expected, attitude, PBC and behavioral intention had significant direct effects on consumption. Moreover, health involvement had a significant indirect effect on behavioral intention through attitude and PBC. Health involvement also had a significant indirect effect on consumption through attitude, PBC and behavioral intention. Attitude and PBC had significant indirect effects on consumption through behavioral intention. In conclusion, based on structural analysis, a model was proposed of interrelations among health involvement, attitude, PBC, behavioral intention and seafood consumption. Other variables(sensory variable, habit, norm etc) may be incorporated to form models that consist of new antecedent and consequence pairs.

  • The purpose of this study was to survey the concern for health, nutrition knowledge, and nutritional attitude of the elementary school children's mothers, to investigate the correlations among them, and to estimate their effects on the growth of their children. The questionnaire was answered by 780 mothers in the Busan area. The concerns over health and nutritional attitude were above average in all items. The perception and accuracy with respect to nutrition knowledge were 90.3% and 77.0%, respectively, and the mean score of the nutrition knowledge was 17.5 on a basis of twenty-five. This indicates that the subjects had a comparatively deep concern for health and good knowledge of nutrition, and professed a relatively desirable attitude. These results indicate a desirable dietary attitude for children as well as parents. The correlation coefficients between nutrition knowledge and a concern for health, and between nutrition knowledge and nutritional attitude were very low. This suggests that the subjects' knowledge of nutrition does not develop into practice. The correlation coefficient was high (r=.610) between the concern for health and the nutritional attitude. In conclusion, the nutrition education program for mothers should be developed to add good practice to knowledge, thus increasing the concern for health, correcting their faulty knowledge of nutrition, teaching the good nutrition, and taking a practical attitude toward the use of their present nutritional knowledge.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between oral health professionals' knowledge, attitude, and practice with regard to infectious waste management and to identify related factors influencing it. Methods: The study comprised of 219 oral health professionals from select dental clinics and public health centers recruited between August 25, 2016 and September 5, 2016, who agreed to participate in the study with full understanding of the study objectives. A self-reported questionnaire was administered, which consisted of 22 items on knowledge of infectious waste management, 9 items on attitude, and 16 items on practice. Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analyses. Results: The age, knowledge, and clinical attitude of oral health professionals significantly correlated with waste management practice. Specifically, infectious waste management practice improved with increasing age, a greater level of knowledge, and a more positive clinical attitude. Additionally, the standardized regression coefficient demonstrated that, of these three factors, clinical attitude more strongly correlated with effective waste management practice, followed by age and level of knowledge. Conclusions: These results indicated that oral health professionals had a low level of knowledge regarding infectious waste management, and a more positive clinical attitude resulted in better practices. Therefore, the development of detailed and active education guidelines and strategies are needed to enhance the attitude, knowledge, and practice of oral health professionals with regard to infectious waste management.
