왕대속(屬) 대나무림(林)의 물질생산(物質生産) 및 무기영양물(無機營養物) 분배(分配)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Biomass, Net Production and Nutrient Distribution of Bamboo Phyllostachys Stands in Korea)

  • 왕대속 대나무림의 물질생산 및 무기영양물 분배를 파악하가 위하여 전라남도 순천시에 위치하고 있는 죽순대, 왕대, 솜대 등 왕대속 3개 종의 임분을 대상으로 임분별 $10m{\times}10m$ 조사구 5개씩을 설치한 후 임분구조 및 죽간(竹稈), 가지, 잎, 지하경(地下莖), 뿌리 등 지하부를 포함한 대나무 전체의 부위별 현존량, 순생산량, 생산능률, 무기영양물 분배 등을 조사분석하였다. 죽간(竹稈)의 평균흉고직경, 죽고(竹高), 흉고단 면적은 죽순대, 솜대, 왕대 임분의 순으로 컸다. 흉고직경 또는 흉고직경과 죽고를 독립변수로 하는 3개 유형의 현존량 대수회귀식을 임분별, 부위별로 유도 검정한 결과 적합도와 실용성을 고려할 때 흉고직경을 독립변수로 하는 대수회귀식(logWt=A+BlogD)이 효과적이었다. 직선 대수회귀식이 되는 흉고직경 또는 흉고직경과 수고($D^2H$)를 독립변수로 하는 2개 유형의 3개 종별 현존량 대수회귀식의 기울기와 절편간의 차이 유무를 검정한 결과 2개 유형 모두 절편간에 유의적인 차이를 보임으로써 왕대속 3개 종의 일괄추정식은 오차가 클 것으로 판단되었다. 지하부를 포함한 임분 전체의 현존량(現存量)은 죽순대 103.621t/ha, 솜대 86.447t/ha, 왕대 36.767t/ha의 순으로 많았으며 비교적 큰 차이를 보였다. 동화기관인 잎의 현존량 구성비는 6.3-7.8%이었으며, 지상부와 지하부의 현존량 비는 1.87-2.26이었다. 지하부를 포함한 임분 전체의 순생산량(純生産量)은 죽순대 6.115t/ha/yr, 솜대 5.609t/ha/yr, 왕대 3252t/ha/yr의 순으로 많았다. 순동화율(純同化率)은 죽순대 임분 2.979, 솜대 임분 2.752, 왕대 임분 2.187의 순으로 높았으며, 현존량축적율(現存量蓄積率)은 2.679-5.358의 범위를 보였다. 부위별 무기영양물 농도는 3개 종 모 두 N, P, Mg는 잎, 지하부, 죽간(竹稈)과 가지의 순으로 높았으며, Ca는 잎, 죽간과 가지, 지하부의 순이었다. 지하부를 포함한 대나무 전체의 무기영양물 함량은 N, K, Ca와 Mg, P의 순으로 많았다. 3개 종의 임분 현존량에 있어서 차이를 보이는 것은 죽간밀도(竹稈密度)는 큰 차이가 없었으나 죽간(죽稈)의 크기가 다르며, 동화기관인 잎의 현존량, 순동화율 비교적 장기간의 축적기관인 죽간 생산능률 등에서 차이가 있기 때문이었다.

A mathematical model of the commercial harvest of Palmaria palmata (Palmariales, Rhodophyta) on Digby Neck, Nova Scotia, Canada

  • A mathematical model of the commercial harvest of Palmaria palmata (Dulse) is presented based on a logistic model and field data collected on Digby Neck, Nova Scotia from 14 harvested shores during May to August, 2010. Field observations used to estimate model parameters included cover of Dulse before and after harvest from Dulse dominated boulders for which surface area was estimated, and from which fresh biomass of harvested Dulse was weighed. Over all the surveys the average harvest fraction was about 50%, and the total resource was about $1,600g\;m^{-2}$. With growth rates in excess of 4% per day and a 50% harvest of the standing crop each month, the model suggests that the Dulse resource is sustainable at current harvest levels.

시비량, 재식밀도, 수확시기가 담배 잎단백질 생산에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Amount of Fertilizer, Plant Density, and Halvesting Time on the Production of Tobacco leaf Protein)

  • Effect of the amount of fertilizer, plant density, and harvesting time on the production of tobacco leaf protein and fresh biomass was investigated. Flue-cured tobacco(M tabacum, L., cv. NC 82) seedlings were transplanted in the field dressed 200kg N per ha at 1$\times$105, 3$\times$105, 5$\times$105, 7$\times$105 plants per ha, and were harvested at the time when 6 and 10 weeks after transplanting, respectively. Harvest at 10 weeks after transplanting increased greatly number of leaves per plant and fresh weight of a plant, Precentage of senescent leaf weight, but significantly decreased fresh weight of a leaf and total protein contents g-1 fresh weight of leaf and stalk over the amount obtained from the harvest at 6 weeks after transplanting. Also, fresh leaf numbers of a plant, fresh weight of a leaf and of a plant, and total protein contents g-1 fresh weight of biomass were more decreased, but percentage of senescent leaf weight were remarkably increased under higher plant density. Therefore, it was seemed that harvesting at 6 weeks after transplanting under 1$\times$105 plant density per ha is more effective for producing higher yield of biomass and protein per plant than 10 weeks harvesting with 7$\times$105 population per ha. A trend was observed that biomass and protein yields per ha are positively correlated with plant population. Biomass yield per ha was the greatest at 7$\times$105 density(80.5t), but the peak of protein yield was at the near of 5$\times$105 population(2454kg as total protein) per ha on the regression curve. It was assumed that if tobacco plants are transplanted under 5$\times$105 plant density at the mid of May, and thereafter harvest at 6 weeks repeatedly during the growing season, it is possible to harvest 2~3 times per year, and to yield more 6.024kg of protein and over 140me1ric tons of fresh biomass ha 1 year 1 statistically in the korea tobacco growing regions.

남한 삼림의 질소와 염기성 양이온의 흡수량 추정 (Estimation of the Nitrogen and Base Cation Uptake of South Korean Forest)

  • 1995년부터 1999년까지의 임업통계 자료를 사용하여 남한 삼림에서의 연순생산량과 질소(N) 및 염기성 양이온 (BC=K, Mg, Ca)의 흡수량을 추정하였다. 줄기와 가지의 연순생산량은 약 1.8 ton DM h $a^{-1}$ y $r^{-1}$이었으며 침엽수림에 비해 활엽수림의 연순생산량이 높게 나타났다. 삼림 전체 면적인 6.246$\times$106 ha에서 전 연순생산량은 약 1.13$\times$$10^{7}$ ton DW/yr 이었다. 1999년의 용재생산량으로 추정한 남한 삼림에서 줄기와 가지의 수확량은 약 6.1$\times$$10^{5}$ ton DW/yr 이었으며 단위 면적당 수확량은 98 kg DM h $a^{-1}$ y $r^{-1}$이었다. 한편, 생장에 의한 N과BC의 흡수량은 각각 350 mol h $a^{-1}$y sup -1/와 296 mol h $a^{-1}$ y $r^{-1}$이었고, 수확량에 포함된 N과 BC의 양은 각각 20mol h $a^{-1}$ y $r^{-1}$와 16 mol h $a^{-1}$ y $r^{-1}$로 BC에 비해 N의 흡수량이 높게 나타났다. 남한의 전 삼림에서 생장과 수확에 의한 N과 BC의 총 흡수량은 각각 2.309$\times$$10^{9}$ mol/yr와 1.953$\times$$10^{9 mol}$yr 이었다.

생산시기가 비규격 넙치 (Paralichthys olivaceus) 연제품의 품질에 미치는 영향 (Quality of Bastard Halibut Surimi Gel as Affected by Harvested Time of Unmarketable Cultured Bastard Halibut Paralichthys olivaceus)

  • In this study, we investigated the chemical and enzymatic properties of unmarketable cultured bastard halibut (UCBH) Paralichthys olivaceus harvested at different times (March, May, July, September, November, and January), and we examined the physical properties of surimi gel from UCBH as a potential source of surimi and surimi gel. The moisture and crude protein contents of UCBH harvested in July and January were >78% and <19%, respectively, which is greater than the moisture content in UCBH harvested in May, March, and September, but lower than the crude protein content. Regardless of the month of harvest, the UCBH had a higher crude protein content than Alaska pollock, which is the largest fishery biomass used for surimi and surimi gel, but a lower moisture content. Regardless of the month of harvest, the enzymatic activity in crude extracts of UCBH muscle ranged from 0.31-0.59 U/mg for casein (pH 6.0 and 9.0) and 11.7-12.7 U/mg for LeuPNA. These findings suggest that autolytic enzymes were unaffected by gel formation. Gel strength was highest in the surimi gel prepared from UCBH harvested in September, November, and January; second highest in that prepared from UCBH harvested in March and May; and lowest in that prepared from UCBH harvested in July. Compared to the gel strength of surimi gel from grade SA commercial Alaska pollock surimi, the strength of the surimi gels prepared from UCBH harvested in March, May, September, November, and January were superior, whereas that of the surimi gel prepared from UCBH harvested in July was similar.

SCB액비가 속성수의 생장 및 biomass 생산에 미치는 영향 (Growth and Biomass Production of Fast Growing Tree Species Treated with Slurry Composting and Biofiltration Liquid Fertilizer)

  • SCB액비, 저장액비, 화학비료, 지하수 및 무처리에 따른 포플러 및 버드나무 클론, 백합나무의 생존율은 전체 평균 94.4%로 나타나 양호하였으며, 잎과 줄기의 비율은 각각 63.5%, 36.5%로 매년수확구의 식재당년 지상부 biomass는 잎의 비율이 높았다. 처리구별 줄기발생 수는 SCB액비, 저장액비, 화학비료, 지하수 및 무처리구가 평균 4.2, 4.6, 4.5, 4.7, 4.9개로 크게 차이가 나타나지 않았으며 버드나무 클론들의 줄기 수가 포플러 클론 및 백합나무 보다 많았다. 줄기직경과 지상부 biomass에 대하여 개체당 유도된 회귀모델을 통해 추정된 biomass 생산량은 화학비료>저장액비>지하수>SCB액비>무처리구 순으로 나타났다. 수종 및 클론별 지상부 biomass 생산량은 모든 처리구에서 현사시 클론들이 우수하게 나타났으며, SCB액비 처리에 따른 잎과 줄기의 질소함량을 분석한 결과 무처리구 보다 질소함 량이 높게 나타나 SCB액비에 함유된 질소를 체내에 흡수하는 것으로 판단된다. 따라서, SCB액비를 biomass 매년수확구에 처리한 결과 화학비료, 저장액비, 지하수 처리구보다 생산량이 적게 나타났지만 무처리구 보다는 생산량이 증가하여 향후 처리방법이나 적정 처리량 등을 구명하여 적용한다면 화학비료와 비슷한 효과를 얻을 수 있고 가축분뇨 처리비용도 절감할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 그러나 본 연구는 biomass 매년수확구의 식재당년의 결과이며, 식재한 묘목의 수령이 증가하고 입지환경에 적응되면 바이오매스 생산량도 대폭 증가할 것이므로 이와 같은 연구가 반복적으로 수행되어야 보다 확실한 결과를 얻을 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

Impact of Triplochiton scleroxylon K. Schum Exploitation on Fern Richness and Biomass Potential in the Semi-Deciduous Rain Forest of Cameroon

  • Triplochiton scleroxylon K. Schum is the plant species most affected by logging activities in the East Region of Cameroon due to its market value. This logging has impacted the ecological niche of the fern plant for which limited research has been done. The aim of this study is to contribute towards improving knowledge of fern richness and biomass on T. scleroxylon within the Central African sub-region. Fern data collection was done on 20 felled/harvested T. scleroxylon where, in addition to fern inventory, fern biomass was collected by the destructive method. The diameter and height of T. scleroxylon measured were used as explanatory variables in allometric equations for fern biomass estimation. Fern inventory was characterized using diversity index. Eight fern species were recorded on T. scleroxylon (≈5 species/T. scleroxylon). The minimum diameter where fern could be found is 59.4 cm. The average fern biomass found was 23.62 kg/T. scleroxylon. Pearson correlation coefficient showed a positive correlation (r>0.55) between fern biomass and T. scleroxylon diameter. For allometric equation, the logarithmic model improved better the adjustment than the non-logarithmic model. However, the quality of the adjustment is improved more when only the diameter is considered as an explanatory variable. Fern biomass is estimated to 90.08 kg/ha-1 with 76.02 kg/ha-1 being lost due to T. scleroxylon exploitation in the study area. This study is a contribution towards increasing knowledge of fern diversity specific to T. scleroxylon, and also fern biomass contribution to climate change mitigation and the potential carbon loss due to T. scleroxylon exploitation.

Allometric equation for estimating aboveground biomass of Acacia-Commiphora forest, southern Ethiopia

  • Background: Most of the biomass equations were developed using sample trees collected mainly from pan-tropical and tropical regions that may over- or underestimate biomass. Site-specific models would improve the accuracy of the biomass estimates and enhance the country's measurement, reporting, and verification activities. The aim of the study is to develop site-specific biomass estimation models and validate and evaluate the existing generic models developed for pan-tropical forest and newly developed allometric models. Total of 140 trees was harvested from each diameter class biomass model development. Data was analyzed using SAS procedures. All relevant statistical tests (normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity) were performed. Data was transformed to logarithmic functions and multiple linear regression techniques were used to develop model to estimate aboveground biomass (AGB). The root mean square error (RMSE) was used for measuring model bias, precision, and accuracy. The coefficient of determination (R2 and adjusted [adj]-R2), the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and the Schwarz Bayesian information Criterion was employed to select most appropriate models. Results: For the general total AGB models, adj-R2 ranged from 0.71 to 0.85, and model 9 with diameter at stump height at 10 cm (DSH10), ρ and crown width (CW) as predictor variables, performed best according to RMSE and AIC. For the merchantable stem models, adj-R2 varied from 0.73 to 0.82, and model 8) with combination of ρ, diameter at breast height and height (H), CW and DSH10 as predictor variables, was best in terms of RMSE and AIC. The results showed that a best-fit model for above-ground biomass of tree components was developed. 월악산 24년생 잣나무 인공림의 바이오매스와 에너지량 (Biomass and Energy Content of Pinus koraiensis Stand Planted in Mt. Wolak)

  • 충북 월악산 북동 사면 지역(해발 380 m)에서 24년생 잣나무 인공림의 바이오매스와 에너지량을 조사한 결과, 잣나무림의 바이오매스는 줄기부 26.6 ton/ha, 수피부 4.3 ton/ha, 1년생 가지 0.2 ton/ha, 가지부 8.6 ton/ha, 고사지 1.5 ton/ha, 당년생 잎 1.3 ton/ha, 전년생 잎 6.1 ton/ha로서 고사지를 제외한 지상부 전체는 47.0 ton/ha으로 나타났다. 또한 연간 순생산량은 줄기부 3.0 ton/ha/yr, 수피부 0.4 ton/ha/yr, 1년생 가지 0.2 ton/ha/yr, 가지부 1.1 ton/ha/yr, 당년생 잎 1.3 ton/ha/yr이며, 지상부 합계는 6.0 ton/ha/yr로 추정되었다. 이것을 열 에너지량으로 환산하면 지상부 전체의 에너지량은 1,028 GJ/ha, 연간 에너지 고정량(지상부)은 133 GJ/ha/yr로 나타났다. 한편, 잣나무림의 엽면적 지수는 20.2로 나타났다.

Comparison of Bioactive Compounds and Antioxidant Activity according to Culture Systems in Artemisia fukudo

  • Artemisia fukudo is a biennial plant and has been reported to have anticancer, anti-melanogenesis, and anti-inflammatory effects. However, it is difficult to produce biomass from A. fukudo, so it is not used as a material for cosmetics or pharmaceuticals. In vitro culture can stably produce biomass throughout the year. In this study, the culture system for producing the highest biomass and bioactive substances was compared. Ex vitro plants were collected in Pyoseon-eup, Jeju island in May 2021, and in vitro culture was harvested after culturing for 8 weeks (plantlet) and 4 weeks (adventitious roots), respectively. After harvest, total polyphenol content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), and DPPH scavenging activity were analyzed. In biomass production, adventitious roots (FW: 5.1 g·100 ml-1, DW: 0.6 g·100 ml-1) were about 4 times higher than that of plantlets (FW: 1.8 g·200 ml-1, DW: 0.3 g·200 ml-1). Both TPC and TFC were highest in ex vitro plants (9.2 ㎍·mL-1, 31.6 ㎍·mL-1), and were 3.0 times and 1.8 times higher than those of plantlets (3.0 ㎍·mL-1, 17.8 ㎍·mL-1), respectively. The IC50 value of DPPH scavenging activity was also the best in ex vitro plants (69.8 ㎍·mL-1), followed by root root (184.4 ㎍·mL-1) and plants (325.3 ㎍·mL-1) in that order. Through additional elicitor treatment, scale-up, and advanced compounds analysis such as HPLC, it can be used as an industrial material.
