HVDC 해저케이블 고장점 추정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fault Location of HVDC Submarine Cables)

  • This paper describes the fault location method for HVDC submarine cables. Most conventional fault location methods can be applied in off-line. However, in this paper, on-line fault location algorithm is proposed using multi-scale correlating of wavelet coefficient and travelling wave. The propagation velocity is measured by field test on Jeju-Heanam submarine cable section. Finally, the fault location algorithm is tested by same system modeling using EMTP/ATP.

  • HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) is an underwater cable between Jeju Island and Haenam in main land and supplies approximately 50% of electrical usage in Jeju Island. If there is any power failure due to HVDC, it will cost approximately 50,000 US dollars per day including Thermal Electrical Generation. Therefore it is absolutely necessary to recover the problem in rapid timely basis. In conclusion, new method and new systems(ULTRA #44 Model) are needed urgently to upgrade current HVDC underwater cable survey technique in Korea to minimize the cost and time factors.

  • 본 논문은 펄스 삽입 보조 회로를 갖고 있는 12-펄스 브리지 4대를 사용한 36-펄스 back-to-back 전압원 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 back-to-back 전압원 컨버터는 교류 연계점에서 유효전력과 무효전력의 독립적인 제어가 가능하다. 펄스 수를 증가하는 원리는 이론적 접근을 사용하여 분석되었다. 제안된 시스템의 동작 타당성은 PSCAD/EMTDC 소프트웨어의 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증되었다. 하드웨어 구현 타당성을 검증하기 위해 축소모형을 제작하고 실험에 의해 분석하였다. 제안된 back-to-back 전압원 컨버터는 HVDC와 FACTS 장치로 널리 사용될 수 있다.

  • This paper presents an optimal design method for fuzzy logic controller (FLC) of HVDC using an Adaptive Evolutionary Algorithm(AEA). We have proposed the AEA which uses a genetic algorithm (GA) and an evolution strategy (ES) in an adaptive manner in order to take merits of two different evolutionary algorithms. The AEA is used for tuning fuzzy membership functions and scaling constants. Simulation results show that disturbances are well damped and the dynamic performances of FLC have better responses than those of PD controller when AC system load changes suddenly.

Capacitance Estimation of the Submodule Capacitors in Modular Multilevel Converters for HVDC Applications

  • To achieve higher reliability in the modular multilevel converters (MMC) for HVDC transmission systems, the internal condition of the DC capacitors of the submodules (SM) needs to be monitored regularly. For an online estimation of the SM capacitance, a controlled AC current with double the fundamental frequency is injected into the circulating current loop of the MMC, which results in current and voltage ripples in the SM capacitors. The capacitor currents are calculated from the arm currents and their switching states. By processing these AC voltage and current components with digital filters, their capacitances are estimated by a recursive least square (RLS) algorithm. The validity of the proposed scheme has been verified by simulation results for a 300-MW, 300-kV HVDC system. In addition, its feasibility has been verified by experimental results obtained with a reduced-scale prototype. It has been shown that the estimation errors for both the simulation and experimental tests are 1.32% at maximum.

  • In this paper deals with the frequency control of the HVDC scheme linking Haenam to Cheju Island. The primary aim of the study is to develop and evaluate a new frequency control that can be employed without having to utilize the existing Synchronous Compensators(Gas Turbines). Study cases are completed involving synchronous compensators trip and load tripping events and study plots presented. It is demonstrated that the existing frequency measurement can be replaced by one derived from the AC network alone, incorporated into a new frequency control algorithm and gives good frequency control and dynamic performance.

  • This paper deals with the effect of exciter parameters on the torsional stress of turbine-generator. The excitation system effects on the AC network stability and the turbine-generator stress. However. it, until now, have not reported that any parameter among exciter parameters is related to the stability and the stress. In order to verify those CIGRE HVDC model was used. Since the AC network with HVDC has the voltage stability problem due to big capacitor, the worst condition to analyze the stress can considered. The EMTDC program is used for the simulation studies.

  • 제주계통은 계통규모에 비해 전원용량이 큰 HVDC 제주연계선로와 단위기 용량이 큰 발전기들이 운전되고 있다. HVDC 2회선 동시 탈락이나, HVDC 미운전시 단위기 용량이 큰 발전기가 전력계통에서 탈락하면 제주계통 주파수는 급격히 저하되고 적절한 보호대책을 수립하지 않으면 전 계통 붕괴가 일어날 수도 있다. 본 논문은 저주파수 계전기에 의한 부하차단방식 적용시 고려하여야 할 조건과 제주계통 저주파수계전기에 의한 부하차단방식에 관해 기술하였다.

  • 고압직류송전 (High Voltage Direct Current, HVDC) 시스템의 모듈형 멀티레벨 컨버터 (Modular Multilevel Converter, MMC)는 EMT (Electromagnetic Transients) 시뮬레이션으로 구현 시 많은 연산시간을 요구하므로 시간 단축을 위한 가속설계가 반드시 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 스위칭 함수를 이용한 등가 모델을 이용하여 각 암을 하나의 전압원으로 단순화하였다. 본 가속모델의 유효성을 검증하기 위해 PSCAD/EMTDC에서 제공하는 반도체 스위치를 이용한 모델과 비교하여 시뮬레이션 수행시간을 비교하였다.

Detection of DC-Cable Fault Location for HVDC Transmission Systems Integrated with Wind Farm

  • This paper presents a method to find the fault location on the DC cables for the HVDC transmission systems which utilizes a hybrid topology of the diode rectifier and the voltage-source converter (VSC) in the wind farm (WF) side. First, the DC-cable fault occurring in this HVDC system is analyzed in detail. Then, the DC-cable fault location is detected from the two relative voltages located on the same section of the cable, which are estimated from a pair of DC-cable voltage and current measurements. The effectiveness of the method is verified by the simulation results.
