In this study, the mechanical properties of boronized 316L austenitic stainless steel have been investigated. Boronizing was carried out in solid medium consisting of Ekabor powder at $900^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$ for 2, 4 and 8 hours, respectively. The properties of sample were analyzed by field emission scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer, Glow discharge spectrometer, micro-hardness tester and ball-on-disk wear tester. Increasing the boronizing time and temperature, the hardness of boronized samples were shown over Hv 2000 and the thickness of boride layers were also increased linearly. XRD patterns of samples were revealed the presence of borides such as FeB, $Fe_2B$, CrB, $Cr_2B$ and $Ni_3B$. Friction coefficient of boronized STS 316L was shown the low value at $900^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours and $1000^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours, respectively.
The effect of CaO mold on the formation of reaction layer was investigated. CaO mold was prepared by mixing of Colloidal silica($NALCO^{(R)}$ 1130) and an $ZrO_2$, CaO at room temperature. The dried at $20{\pm}3^{\circ}C$, 75% humidity for 12hrs. Sample was prepared from the Cp-Ti(grade-2) and melted by high frequence induction melting system in the vacuum condition. The react ion layer of Ti was confirmed by optical microscopy, microhardness(Hv) and X-ray diffraction. Thickness of reaction layer using the CaO stabilized ZrO2 was thinner than the CaO added ZrO2. And thickness of reaction layer were decreased with decreasing pH of slurry. CaO addition in the slurry could not controlled reaction between molten Ti and investment mold. On the other hand, the CaO chemical bonded ZrO2 by stabilization treatment could controlled reaction between molten Ti and investment mold.

In this paper, we propose an auto gain/offset which considers the visibility of human visual system (HVS) and the histogram of a target image jointly. In the proposed method, the lower and upper clipping thresholds are determined to maximize the averaged visibility of the contrast-stretched image. The target image is then contrast-stitched by the gain and offset derived from the clipping thresholds. We define the visibility as a quantity related to the spatial JND, which means the threshold below which any change of a pixel from its textured neighbors is not recognized by the HVS. Experimental results show that the contrast-stretched images by the proposed method have better global and local contrasts compared to the results by some conventional methods.
Diamond-like carbon(DLC) films were synthesized using the rf-plasma CVD technique with the addition of small amounts of nitrogen and oxygen to a gas mixture of $CH_4$ and $H_2$. The gas flow ratio of $CH_4$ to $H_2$ was 2.4:1, and 3% , 13.6% of nitrogen were added to the gas mixture of $CH_4$ and $H_2$ for the deposition of DLC films. The film stress tended to decrease as the nitrogen concentration increased from 3% to 13.6%, probably due to the decrease of the number of the interlink between carbon atoms. The residual stress tended to slightly decrease when 3% of oxygen was added. Scratch tests were performed to investigate the adhesion between the DLC films and the Ti intelayer after pretreating the TiN surface with direct hydrogen plasma. The adhesion was enhanced by adding nitrogen and oxygen to the $CH_4$ and $H_2$ gas mixture. The adhesion for the 3% nitrogen addition was better than that for the 13.6% nitrogen addition. The Vicker's hardness of the DLC films was measured to be 1100Hv.
Radiative transfer programs to simulate the 3-micron auroral $CH_4$ emissions of Jupiter have been developed. The formalism of the radiative transfer calculations including the thermal, fluorescent, and auroral emissions of the $CH_4$ bands for an atmospheric layer having an optical depth of ${\tau}_v$ is given by: ${\mu}dI_v/d{\tau}_v=I_v-{\varpi}_v{^*}J_v(1-{\varpi}_v{^*})B_v-{\varpi}{^*}F_{ov}{e}{x}{p}(-{\tau}_v/{\mu}_o)4{\pi}-hv{\varpi}{^*}V/4{\pi}$ where ${\varpi}_v{^*}$ is the single scattering albedo of $CH_4$ consisting of Einstein A coefficient and collisional deexcitation rate. Other terms are usual radiative transfer parameters appearing in textbooks including the terms for scattered ${\varpi}_v{^*}J_v$, thermal $(1-{\varpi}_v{^*})B_v$, and attenuated solar radiations $F_{ov}$ at the certain atmospheric layer. For auroral excitations, we include V, which is the number of excited states per $cm^3$ persec by auroral particle bombardments. We apply this formalism to the high-resolution spectra of the auroral regions observed with GNIRS/Gemini North, and will present preliminary results for the 3 micron auroral processes of Jupiter.

The PD measurement method is very useful to detect insulation degradation. Recently, the HFPD(High Frequency Partial Discharge) measurement testing is widely used in partial discharge measurement of HV machines because HFPD measurement testing receives less influence of external noise and has a merit of good sensitivity. Therefore it is very useful method compare to previous conventional PD testing method and effective diagnosis method in power transformer that requires in-service diagnosis. But partial discharges have very complex characteristics of discharge pattern so it is required continuous research to development of precise analysis method. In this study, simulated transformer is manufactured and HFPD occurred from simulated transformer is measured with broad band antenna and active-line RF measurement system in real time, the degradation grade of transformer is analyzed through produced patterns in simulated transformer according to applied voltages. Also the PD pattern which was measured with EMC analyzer and RF measurement system is compared.
For the operation of high temperature superconducting (HTS) power equipments, it is necessary to develop insulating materials and high voltage (HV) insulation technology at cryogenic temperature of bushing. In this paper, the surface flashover characteristics of various insulating materials in $LN_2$ are studied. These results are studied at both AC and impulse voltage under a non-uniform field. The negative impulse breakdown voltage of GFRP is slightly higher than the positive impulse breakdown voltage. The use of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, Teflon) as insulation body for HTS bushing should be much desirable. Especially, GFRP is excellent material not only surface flashover characteristics but also mechanical characteristics at cryogenic temperature. The surface flashover is most serious problem for the shed design in $LN_2$ and operation of superconducting equipment.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics and images of costume colors in Korean Masque Drama. For this study, 242 color samples were selected by extracting digital color data by using the Eyedropper Tool of Photoshop 7.0. The RGB color data were transformed to HV/C and the attributes of color and tone were analyzed. Color images were analyzed with the IRI color image scale. As a result, neutral, red, purple blue, and yellow were found to be the most frequently used colors in the Korean Masque costumes. In the ton analysis, white tone showed high frequency and next orders were dp, s, v, b, sf. In the hue & tone, the most frequent color was white, followed by R(v), PB(dp), R(dp), YR(s), GY(s) and mGY. Color images were focused on dynamic, gorgeous, and natural images.
This paper aims to identify the similarities and differences of color preference for mountain climbing wear according to gender, season and item. Total of 749 photos of mountain climbers were taken in 2009 during weekends in May and October at two mountains in Seoul. In order to analyze color by hue and tone, all the data were digitalized using Photoshop and converted to HV/C by using the Munsell Conversion software. For the purpose of data analysis, 13 colors of hue, including 10 base colors of the Munsel color system plus white, gray and black, and 12 tones of PCCS were grouped into 5 groups according to close distance. Jumper, t-shirts, vest and pants were selected as the 4 item categories. Results showed that there were clear differences in color preference based on gender. Women, with a preference for red, reddish purple, black, purple and blue, displayed wider range of choices in color as compared to men, who preferred black and blue color throughout all seasons. Yellow, green, and greenish blue were less preferred by both men and women. For pants, black represented over 90% as the main color for both genders. Overall, men preferred dark tones and women preferred vivid and bright tones. Moreover, there were less distinct differences in color preference according to season and item.
To increase dyeability of cotton fabric to the chestnut shell dyeing, we had several dyeing experiments with the experimental fabrics which was pre-treated by soybean, NaOH, KOH. Three kinds of experimental cotton fabrics were used and chestnut shell dyebath was made for the experiment. Munsell's color HV/C and color differences ΔE of dyeing fabrics were compared between pre-treatment and none pre-treatment dyeing fabrics. The main results were as follows ; Color differences of dyeing fabrics pre-treated with soybean, NaOH, KOH were higher than those of none pre-treated dyeing fabrics. In case of pre-treatment with soybean, the concentration of the soybean bath affected the color differences but not affected in case of pre-treatment with NaOH & KOH. Munsell's color of pre-treatment fabrics with soybean, NaOH, KOH were same with the none pre-treatment fabrics. Colorfastness of the pre-treated fabrics were same degree, but only in case of soybean pre-treated fabrics were low in fastness of washing(change) & perspiration(acidic change).
