Contact material is widely used in the field of electrical parts. Ag-CdO material has a good wear resistance and stable contact resistance. In order to establish optimizing heat treatment condition, rolling temperature and oxidation process, we studied the microstructure of Ag-CdO material with various conditions. The experimental procedure were melting using high frequency induction, heat treatment, rolling and internal oxidation. And we experimented on difference process, Post-oxidaion. In this study, we obtained the optimizing heat treatment condition was $700^{\circ}C$ for 15 min. and the optimizing rolling temperature was $730^{\circ}C$. In investigation of the microstructure of oxidized material, coarse oxide and depleted oxidation layer existed. The hardness was average Hv 70. When we used Post-oxidation, oxides were finer than prior process and depleted oxidation layer did not exist. The hardness of Post-oxidation material was average Hv 80. And the optimizing rolling temperature was $800^{\circ}C$.
In the present study, the effects of Al/SiC interface reaction and the formation of $Al_4C_3$ compounds on the mechanical properties of the Al/SiC composites prepared by squeeze casting were investigated. After squeeze casting, the size of dendrites in Al without whiskers were larger than those with whiskers. The hardness of composite materials (about 72 Hv) was found to be approximating 40% higher than that of matrix metal (29Hv), which gradually increases which heat treatment Time showing maximum hardness at 12hr. The observation of increasing number of compounds in 12hrs heat treatment suggests that these compounds are responsible for the increase of hardness. By X-ray diffraction studies, those compounds were identified as $Al_4C_3$, (Al, Si). And intensity of Si peak increased. The tensile strengh of composite materials was gradually decresed by heat tretment, which was in contrast to the behavior of hardeness. With incresing heat tretment time, the fracture mode of composite materials was changed from large dimples and pull-out form of fiber to the fracture and rupture foum of fiber.

The microstructure and micro-hardness of high velocity oxygen fuel-sprayed (HVOF) WC-CoCr coatings are comparatively studied for both before and after laser heat-treatment (LT) of the coatings. The results indicate that compared to HVOF WC-CoCro coating, the laser treatment has eliminated the pores almost entirely providing a more homogeneous and densified microstructure. And the compact interface of the coating with substrate is achieved by laser treatment. The thickness of the coating has decreased from 300 ${\mu}m$ to 225 ${\mu}m$ As a result, the average porosity is five times higher in HVOF coating than in the coating by laser treatment. The laser treatment has produced a considerable increment in the hardness of the coating near surface whose average value increases from Hv0.2=1262.4 in the HVOF-sprayed coating to Hv0.2=1818.7 in the coatings treated with laser.

The paper considers the relation between on-line monitoring and diagnostics on the one hand and high-voltage (HV) withstand and partial discharge (PD) on-site testing on the other. HV testing supplies the basic data (fingerprints) for diagnostics. In case of warnings by on-line diagnostic systems, off-line withstand and PD testing delivers the best possible information about defects and enables the classification of the risk. Because alternating voltage (AC) is the most important test voltage, the AC generation on site is considered. Frequency tuned resonant (ACRF) test systems are best adapted to on-site conditions. They can be simply combined with PD measuring equipment. The available ACRF test systems and their application to electric power equipment -from cable systems to power transformers - is described.

Laser heat treatment technology is used for improving the feature of fatigue resistance and wear resistance in mobile parts. The purpose of this study is to compare the characteristics of laser heat treatment and high frequency heat treatment, which is commonly used in industrial place. For the preemptive experiment, the distribution, depth and size of hardening and its micro-structural features were compared between surface heat treatment case by defocusing and variables of each process for heat treatment by exclusively manufactured heat treatment optical system. As a result, high frequency heat treatment has wide distribution of hardening depth and width about 3 times larger than laser heat treatment, however, its average hardness showed 621.4Hv which is smaller than the average hardness of laser heat treatment with 691Hv.
The surface phase changes, the hardness variations, the nitrogen contents and the corrosion resistances of 17-4 PH stainless steel have been investigated after nitrogen permeation(solution nitriding) at a temperature ranges from $1050^{\circ}C$ to $1150^{\circ}C$ The phases appeared at the nitrogen-permeated surface layer were shown to martensite plus austenite and austenite, depending on the variation of nitrogen and chromium contents. And the surface hardness was also depended on the phases appeared at the surface layer from 370 Hv to 220 Hv. The precipitates exhibited at the nitrogen-permeated surface layer were niobium nitride, niobium chromium nitride and carbo-nitride in the austenite and martensite matrices. The surface nitrogen contents were followed by the Cr contents of the surface layers, representing 0.55% at the temperatures of $1050^{\circ}C$ and $1150^{\circ}C$ respectively, and 0.96% at $1100^{\circ}C$ at the distances of $60{\mu}m$ from the outmost surface. From the comparison of the corrosion resistances between nitrogen-permeated and solution-annealed steels, nitrogen permeation remarkably improved the corrosion resistance in the solution of 1 N $H_2SO_4$ due to the increase of nitrogen content in the surface austenite phase.

A low temperature plasma nitrocarburizng was implemented on the duplex stainless steel to achieve the enhancement of surface hardness without degradation of its corrosion resistance. Attempts were made to investigate the influence of Pulse frequency and Duty factor of pulsed power in a high Pulse frequency regime on the surface characteristics of the hardened layer. The hardened layer (S-phase) was formed on all of the treated surfaces. Surface hardness reached up to 1300 $HV_{0.1}$ which is about 4.6 times higher than that of the untreated material (280 $HV_{0.1}$). The thickness of the hardened layer tends to increase lightly with the higher Pulse frequency and the higher Duty factor. The corrosion resistance of nitrocarburized duplex stainless steel was almost similar to that of the untreated material. Both the Pulse frequency and the Duty factor do not have a significant influence on the corrosion property of plasma treated duplex stainless steel.
The 2-step low temperature plasma processes (the combined carburizing and post-nitriding) were carried out for improving both the surface hardness and corrosion resistance of AISI 316L stainless steel. The effects of processing time and temperature on the surface properties during nitriding step were investigated. The expanded austenite (${\gamma}_N$) was formed on all of the treated surface. The thickness of ${\gamma}_N$ was increased up to about $20{\mu}m$ and the thickness of entire hardened layer was determined to be about $40{\mu}m$. The surface hardness reached up to $1,200HV_{0.1}$ which is about 5 times higher than that of untreated sample ($250HV_{0.1}$). The thickness of ${\gamma}_N$ and concentration of N on the surface were increased with increasing processing time and temperature. The corrosion resistance in 2-step low temperature plasma processed austenitic stainless steels was enhanced more than that in the untreated austenitic stainless steels due to a high concentration of N on the surface.

Tungsten (W) is used as a facing material for nuclear fusion reactors, and it is used in conjunction with structural materials such as copper alloy (CuCrZr), graphite, or stainless steel. On the other hand, since tungsten is a material with a high melting point, a method that can be manufactured at a lower temperature is important. Therefore, in this study, tungsten, which is a facing material, was attempted to be manufactured using a pressure sintering method. Material properties of sintered tungsten materials were analyzed for each solvent using two types of solvents, acetone and polyethylene glycol. The sintered tungsten material using acetone as a solvent exhibited a hardness value of about 255 Hv, and when polyethylene glycol was used, a hardness value of about 200 Hv was shown. The flexural strength of the sintered tungsten material was 870 MPa and 307 MPa, respectively, when acetone and polyethylene glycol were used as solvents. The sintered tungsten material using acetone as a solvent caused densification between particles, which served as a factor of increasing the strength.
