Magnetic Susceptibility depending on the Thermal Degradation of HK-40 Steel (HK-40강의 열화도에 따른 자화율의 변화)

  • Since the used materials of furnace heater tube with different kinds of thermal degradation were not commonly available, the HK-40 steel specimens were heat-treated isothermally at elevated temperature to simulate the microstructure at the service temperature. HK-40 steel specimens with five different aging time were prepared by isothermal heat treatment at $1050^{\circ}C$. The characteristics of the magnetic susceptibility have been investigated for the degradation evaluation of HK-40 steel. The magnetic susceptibility at room temperature increases as the extent of degradation of the materials increases. The variation of magnetic susceptibility was compared with the variation of tensile properties and Vickers hardness. To investigate the effect of the microsturctural change on the characteristics of tensile properties, hardness and magnetic susceptibility, the microstructures were examined by a scanning electron microscope(SEM) and the chemical compositions were analyzed by a energy spectrometer of SEM. As a result, the magnetic susceptibility method can be suggested as one of the nondestructive evaluation methods for the degradation of the HK-40 steel.

Study on Erosion Characteristics of Aged HK40 Steel (열화된 HK40강의 마식특성에 관한 연구)

  • The erosion behavior of :artificially aged HK40 steel was investigated. Erosion tests were conducted at room temperature, $200^{\circ}C$ and $400^{\circ}C$ using $Al_2O_3$ particles. Erosion rates increased with increment of temperature. The maximum erosion rate increased with the impingement angle of 30 degree. The erosion rate increased, reached the maximum at 1000 hours, and after that, decreased with heat treatment time. The mechanism of erosion seems to be the cutting wear which is very much associated with the strength of material. As results, the erosion rates were rather affected by the tensile strength and the strain hardening coefficient than the hardness and the yield strength. Such changes of material properties would be caused by the change of micro-structure due to the precipitation of carbide and the dissolution of solid element within matrix during the heat treatment.

  • 'Otherness' is a major philosophical concept in modern Western thought. It has been a force through which the concept of a subject's rights emerged. This paper focuses on Emmanuel Levinas' discussion of 'otherness.' Levinas emphasizes our ethical responsibility for others, which is meaningful in that it can be applied as a paradigm of communication for use in modern society. In the context of modern times and multicultural societies, it is important to recognize the diversity of others and to promote coexistence. Coexistence at this time should be 'unifying' rather than subject-centered. This paper attempts to understand this narrative. An epic is a cognitive process that constitutes the fundamental desires and experiences of humans. Humans try to project and understand themselves through narratives. The possibility of coexistence with others can be examined by analyzing otherness as found within those narratives. Therefore, this paper suggests the possibility and direction of coexistence by analyzing the storytelling that establishes relationships by shaping characters in Guillermo del Toro's film, Shape of Water.

Hypocholesterolemic Effect of Lyophilized, Heat-Killed Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus plantarum (가열살균한 Lactobacillus rhamnosus와 Lactobacillus plantarum의 콜레스테롤 저하 효과)

  • Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) were well known to enhance the intestinal health of human. For the development of pharmaceutical LAB. it was screened that the LAB with activity lowering the cholesterol in vitro and evaluated the hypocholestrolemic effect of live and heat-killed (HK) LAB on rats. The selected Lactobacillus plantarum CBT 1209 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus CBT 1702 had the deconjugation of bile salts and assimilation of cholesterol micelles activities from laboratory media, The mixture of 1702 and 1209 strains was administrated to the rats with high cholesterol diet. The experiment performed by 4 groups which were control, HCD, LLAB, HKLAB groups. The hypocholesterolemic effect of LAB (strains 1702, 1209) at blood level, the phenomena of AI decreasing through LDL-cholesterol dwindling, was assessed. This effect of 1702 and 1209 was enhanced when it comes to be the HKLAB more the live-LAB, This data means that the Lactobacillus rhamnosus CBT 1702 and Lactobacillus plantarum CBT 1209 were very useful functional ingredient for hypercholesterolemia.
