This paper characterizes hi-directionally oscillating flow in planar microdiffusers in order to evaluate the frequency-dependent flow rectification performance of the microdiffusers. In the theoretical study, we analyze a hi-directionally oscillating flow in the planar microdiffuser. In the experimental study, we fabricate two different microdiffuser prototypes, having different neck widths of 100 ㎛ (D100) and 300 ㎛(D300), respectively. The experimental net flow rates are measured as 116.6 $\mu$ι/min. and 344.4 $\mu$ι/min. for D100 and D300, respectively. The experimental flow rate of D300 decreases at the oscillating flow frequencies higher than 90Hz, at which the net boundary layer thickness is reduced to the microdiffuser neck width. It is experimentally verified that the flow rectification performance and the net flow rate of the microdiffusers tend to decrease when the boundary layer thickness is smaller than the diffuser neck width.
In this study, the inorganic thin-film passivation layer was newly adopted to protect the organic layer from moisture and oxygen. Using the electron beam evaporation system, the various kinds of inorganic thin-films were deposited onto the organic layer and their interface properties between organic and inorganic layer were investigated. In this investigation, the MgO layer showed the most suitable properties, and based on this result, the time dependent emission properties were estimated for the OLED with and without passivation layer. In this experiment, we can see that the time-dependent emission properties of MgO passivated OLED had longer life-time compared to non-passivated OLED. Therefore, we can consider that the MgO thin film is one of the most suitable candidates for the thin-film passivation layer of OLED.
$Bi_2Sr_2Ca_{n-1}Cu_nO_x$(n=0, 1, 2)superconducting thin films have been fabricated by atomic layer-by-layer deposition at an ultra low growth rate using IBS(Ion Beam Sputtering) method. During the deposition, 90 mol% ozone gas of typical pressure of $1{\sim}9{\times}10^{-5}$ Torr are supplied with ultraviolet light irradiation for oxidation. XRD and RHEED investigations reveal out that a buffer layer with some different compositions is formed at the early deposition stage of less than 10 units cell and then Bi-2201 oriented along the c-axis is grown.
DLC film remaining on device surface could be removed by eliminating AI sacrificial layer as a final step of lift-off process in the fabrication of DLC-coated Si-tip FEA. The field emission properties(I-V curves, hysteresis, and current fluctuation etc.) of the processed device were analyzed and the process was employed to 1.76 inch-sized FEA panel fabrication in order to evaluate its FED applicability.
In this study, WC-l7wt% Co composite powder for thermal spray was fabricated by spray drying method. The agglomerated composite powder had spheroidal morphology and the particle size distribution was 20~60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. WC and Co were distributed homogeneously. However, the strength of the spray-dried agglomerate was low due to the pores within the agglomerate. Therefore, the spray-dried agglomerate was broken down during HVOF thermal spray and the microstructure was inhomogeneous with many pores within the coating layer. And the decomposition of WC to W and $W_{6}$$C_{2.54}$ was accelerated. The strength and flowability of the agglomerate were greatly improved by sintering heat treatment(110$0^{\circ}C$, 1 hour, hi atmosphere), and then the coating layer showed dense and homogeneous microstructure with well-developed splats. The hardness of the coating layer was H $v_{300}$ = 1072.2.2.
In this study, the models for a double-diffusive thermohaline system heated from below were developed and the governing equations were established taking account of the density variation with time. The six order Runge-Kutta method was used for the solution of the simultaneous governing differential equations and the temperature and salt concentration distributions and height of each layer within the system were predicted. As the result of this study, it was found that the predicted values with the convective layer growing proportionality constant of 0.18 showed a good agreement with available experimental data. It was also found that the effect of density change with time on the temperature profile in the bottom convective layer could not be negligible.
New Songdo city is currently developing on the reclaimed land on a marine deposit and among the development the four sixty-four(64) stories high rise buildings are under construction at block 125. The ground condition of the site is comprised of a deep seated weathered rock staratum under a soft marine deposit layer. As a foundation system, a bored pile was planned to transmit the applied load to the stable layer. In this study, the behavior of the weathered rock especially locating at a upper part having a weak strength(HWR, MWR) has been evaluated through series of hi-directional pile load test(BD PLT) carried out on the 3 drilled shafts socketed in a weathered rock layer in a design stage. It has been planned to increase the effect of the tests that the length of test piles was prepared short enough to perform the test under a high stress. The summary of the design reflecting the test results has been made up. In addition, the 4 hi-directional pile tests excuted on the working piles during the construction stage for the purpose of confirmation and the evaluation of the adequacy of the pile behaviors have been included in this study.

A thin Te interlayer was applied to a Ni/n-InGaAs contact to reduce the contact resistance between Ni-InGaAs and n-InGaAs. A 5-nm-thick Te layer was first deposited on a Si-doped n-type $In_{0.53}Ga_{0.47}As$ layer, followed by in situ deposition of a 30-nm-thick Ni film. After the formation of the Ni-InGaAs alloy by rapid thermal annealing at $300^{\circ}C$ for 30 s, the extracted specific contact resistivity (${\rho}_c$) reduced by more than one order of magnitude from $2.86{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ to $8.98{\times}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ than that of the reference sample. A thinner Ni-InGaAs alloy layer with a better morphology was obtained by the introduction of the Te layer. The improved interface morphology and the graded Ni-InGaAs layer formed at the interface were believed to be responsible for ${\rho}_c$ reduction.
Highly corrosion resistance performance of CrAlSiN coatings were obtained by applying ultrathin $Al_2O_3$ thin films using atomic layer deposition (ALD) method. CrAlSiN coatings were prepared on Cr adhesion layer/SUS304 substrates by a hybrid coating system of arc ion plating and high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) method. And, ultrathin $Al_2O_3$ passivation layer was deposited on the CrAlSiN/Cr adhesion layer/SUS304 sample to protect CrAlSiN coatings by encapsulating the whole surface defects of coating using ALD. Here, the high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX) analysis revealed that the ALD $Al_2O_3$ thin films uniformly covered the inner and outer surface of CrAlSiN coatings. Also, the potentiodynamic and potentiostatic polarization test revealed that the corrosion protection properties of CrAlSiN coatings/Cr/SUS304 sample was greatly improved by ALD encapsulation with 50 nm-thick $Al_2O_3$ thin films, which implies that ALD-$Al_2O_3$ passivation layer can be used as an effect barrier layer of corrosion.
