  • Multi-exposure high dynamic range (HDR) image reconstruction, the task of reconstructing an HDR image from multiple low dynamic range (LDR) images in a dynamic scene, often produces ghosting artifacts caused by camera motion and moving objects and also cannot deal with washed-out regions due to over or under-exposures. While there has been many deep-learning-based methods with motion estimation to alleviate these problems, they still have limitations for severely moving scenes. They also require large parameter counts, especially in the case of state-of-the-art methods that employ attention modules. To address these issues, we propose a frequency domain approach based on the idea that the transform domain coefficients inherently involve the global information from whole image pixels to cope with large motions. Specifically we adopt Residual Fast Fourier Transform (RFFT) blocks, which allows for global interactions of pixels. Moreover, we also employ Depthwise Overparametrized convolution (DO-conv) blocks, a convolution in which each input channel is convolved with its own 2D kernel, for faster convergence and performance gains. We call this LFFNet (Lightweight Frequency Fusion Network), and experiments on the benchmarks show reduced ghosting artifacts and improved performance up to 0.6dB tonemapped PSNR compared to recent state-of-the-art methods. Our architecture also requires fewer parameters and converges faster in training.

  • High dynamic range image can describe the real world scenes that have a wide range of luminance intensity. To display high dynamic range (HDR) image into conventional displayable devices such as monitors and printers, we proposed the logarithmic based global mapping algorithm that consider the features of image using mapping parameters. Based on characteristics of image, we first modify input luminance values for reproducing perceptually tuned images and then displayable output values are obtained directly. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves good subjective results while preserving details of image, furthermore proposed algorithm has fast simple and practical structure for implementation.

  • Because of the dynamic range limitation of digital equipment, it is impossible to obtain dark and bright areas at the same time with one shot. In order to solve this problem, an exposure fusion technique for fusing a plurality of images photographed at different exposure amounts into one is being studied. Among them, Laplacian pyramid decomposition based fusion method can generate natural HDR image by fusing images of various scales. But this requires a lot of computation time. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an approximation technique that achieves similar performance and greatly shortens computation time. The concept of vanishing point image for approximation is introduced, and the validity of the proposed approach is verified by comparing the computation time with the resultant image.

  • In this paper, we propose a contrast enhancement algorithm using guided image filter (GIF). The GIF is used to divide an HDR image into a base layer and a detail layer. The energy scale of base layer determinate the darkness and brightness of the image. However, the detail information in the base layer is difficult to be displayed because of the high brightness and clusters of low brightness. We propose a contrast enhancement method by adjusting the gray level of base layer by subtracting the mean value of itself. It is combined with the detail layer to preserve the detail information. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance in detail preservation and contrast enhancement.

  • In this paper, we propose three compensation methods to solve problems in high-resolution airborne infrared camera and to improve long-range target information acquisition performance. First, image motion and temporal noise reduction technique which is caused by atmospheric turbulence. Second, thermal blurring image correction technique by imperfect performance of NUC(Non Uniformity Correction) or raising the internal temperature of the camera. Finally, DRC(Dynamic Range Compression) and flicker removing technique of 14bits HDR(High Dynamic Range) infrared image. Through this study, we designed techniques to improve the acquisition performance of long-range target information of high-resolution airborne infrared camera, and compared and analyzed the performance improvement result with implemented images.

Long GOP (Group of pictures)

  • Background: Although 3D image based brachytherapy is currently the standard of treatment in cervical cancer, most of the centres in developing countries still practice orthogonal intracavitary brachytherapy due to financial constraints. The quest for optimum dose and fractionation schedule in high dose rate (HDR) intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT) is still ongoing. While the American Brachytherapy Society recommends four to eight fractions of each less than 7.5 Gy, there are some studies demonstrating similar efficacy and comparable toxicity with higher doses per fraction. Objective: To assess the treatment efficacy and late complications of HDR ICBT with 9 Gy per fraction in two fractions. Materials and Methods: This is a prospective institutional study in Southern India carried on from $1^{st}$ June 2012 to $31^{st}$ July 2014. In this period, 76 patients of cervical cancer satisfying our inclusion criteria were treated with concurrent chemo-radiation following ICBT with 9 Gy per fraction in two fractions, five to seven days apart. Results: The median follow-up period in the study was 24 months (range 10.6 - 31.2 months). The 2 year actuarial local control rate, disease-free survival and overall survival were 88.1%, 84.2% and 81.8% respectively. Although 38.2% patients suffered from late toxicity, only 3 patients had grade III late toxicity. Conclusions: In our experience, HDR brachytherapy with 9 Gy per fraction in two fractions is an effective dose fractionation for the treatment of cervical cancer with acceptable toxicity.

  • Recently high dynamic range imaging technique is hot issue in computer graphic area. We present a progressive tone mapping algorithm, which is based on weighted least squares optimization framework. Our approach combines weighted leastsquaresfiltering with iCAM06, for showing more perceptual high dynamic range images in conventional display, while avoiding visual halo artifacts. We decompose high dynamic range image into base layer and detail layer. The base layer has large scale variation, it is obtained by using weighted least squares filtering, and then the base layer incorporates iCAM06 model. Then, adaptive compression on the base layer according to human visual system. Only the base layer reduces contrast, and preserving detail. The resultshows more perceptual color appearance and preserve fine detail, while avoiding common artifacts.
