  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship of influenza A (H1N1) knowledge, attitude and practice for nurses. Methods: Data were collected by self-report questionnaires from a total of 325 nurses working in an Influenza A (H1N1) base-zone hospital in C city during September, 2009. The collected data were analyzed using of SPSS/WIN 17.0. Results: The knowledge of influenza A (H1N1) was not statistically different for gender, age, education, work unit, clinical experience, position, or previous education of Influenza A (H1N1). The attitude to influenza A (H1N1) was statistically significant according to age or clinical experience. Practice related to influenza A (H1N1) was statistically different for education, clinical experience or previous education of influenza A (H1N1). Knowledge of influenza A (H1N1) was lowest for etiology and definition compared to other subcategories. Attitude and practice were significantly different for all items. The biggest difference in items was for 'use of physical barriers (protective goggles, face masks and gowns) during procedures that may involve contact with aerosol'. There was a positive association between attitude and practice. Conclusion: An educational program focusing on strategy to change nurses's knowledge, attitude and practice can be effective for infection control in an influenza A (H1N1) base-zone hospital.

  • A tree is called starlike if it has exactly one vertex of degree greate. than two. In [4] it was proved that two starlike trees G and H are cospectral if and only if they are isomorphic. We prove here that there exist no two non-isomorphic Laplacian cospectral starlike trees. Further, let G be a simple graph of order n with vertex set V(G) : {1,2, …, n} and let H = {$H_1$, $H_2$, …, $H_{n}$} be a family of rooted graphs. According to [2], the rooted product G(H) is the graph obtained by identifying the root of $H_{i}$ with the i-th vertex of G. In particular, if H is the family of the paths $P_k_1,P_k_2,...P_k_2$ with the rooted vertices of degree one, in this paper the corresponding graph G(H) is called the sunlike graph and is denoted by G($k_1,k_2,...k_n$). For any $(x_1,x_2,...,x_n)\;\in\;{I_*}^n$, where $I_{*}$ = : {0,1}, let G$(x_1,x_2,...,x_n)$ be the subgraph of G which is obtained by deleting the vertices $i_1,i_2,...i_j\;\in\;V(G)\;(O\leq j\leq n)$, provided that $x_i_1=x_i_2=...=x_i_j=o.\;Let \;G[x_1,x_2,...x_n]$ be characteristic polynomial of G$(x_1,x_2,...,x_n)$, understanding that G[0,0,...,0] $\equiv$1. We prove that $G[k_1,k_2,...,k_n]-\sum_{x\in In}[{\prod_{\imath=1}}^n\;P_k_i+x_i-2(\lambda)](-1)...G[x_1,x_2,...,X_n]$ where x=($x_1,x_2,...,x_n$);G[$k_1,k_2,...,k_n$] and $P_n(\lambda)$ denote the characteristic polynomial of G($k_1,k_2,...,k_n$) and $P_n$, respectively. Besides, if G is a graph with $\lambda_1(G)\;\geq1$ we show that $\lambda_1(G)\;\leq\;\lambda_1(G(k_1,k_2,...,k_n))<\lambda_1(G)_{\lambda_1}^{-1}(G}$ for all positive integers $k_1,k_2,...,k_n$, where $\lambda_1$ denotes the largest eigenvalue.

  • Reaction rates for mononuclear heterocyclic rearrangement of N-(5-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)-N'-arylformamidines into 3-acylamino-1-aryl-1,2,4-triazoles were determined spectrophotometrically in dioxane/water (50 : 50, v/v). There are two different reaction paths according to pH. One is pH-independent path, the other is pH-dependent one. In pH-independent path, the result of substituent effect by IYT equation show that N-H bond breaking as well as new N-N bond formation controls the reaction rate. In pH-dependent path, concave-upward Hammett plot was observed. It can be concluded that new N-N bond formation is more advanced than N-H bond breaking in transition state for electron-donating substituents, but N-H bond breaking is more advanced than new N-N bond formation for electron-withdrawing substituents.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new kind of slant helix for null curves called null $W_n$-slant helix and we give a definition of new harmonic curvature functions of a null curve in terms of $W_n$ in (n + 2)-dimensional Lorentzian space $M^{n+2}_1$ (for n > 3). Also, we obtain a characterization such as: "The curve ${\alpha}$ s a null $W_n$-slant helix ${\Leftrightarrow}H^{\prime}_n-k_1H_{n-1}-k_2H_{n-3}=0$" where $H_n,H_{n-1}$ and $H_{n-3}$ are harmonic curvature functions and $k_1,k_2$ are the Cartan curvature functions of the null curve ${\alpha}$.

  • The geometrical parameters, vibrational frequencies, and dissociation energies for $H_{2n+1}^+$ (n=1~6) clusters have been investigated using high level ab initio quantum mechanical techniques with large basis sets. The equilibrium geometries have been optimized at the self-consistent field (SCF), the single and double excitation configuration interaction (CISD), the coupled cluster with single and double excitation (CCSD), and the CCSD with connected triple excitations [CCSD(T)] levels of theory. The highest levels of theory employed in this study are TZ2P+d CCSD(T) up to $H^+_g$ and TZ2P CCSD(T) for $H_{11}^+$ and $H_{13}^+$. Harmonic vibrational frequencies are also determined at the SCF level of theory with various basis sets and confirm that all the optimized geometries are true minima. The dissociation energies, $D_e$, for $H_{2n+1}^+$ (n=26) have been predicted using energy differences at each optimized geometry and zero-point vibrational energies(ZPVEs) have been considered to compare with experimental dissociation energies, $D_0$.

  • Purpose: To identify factors associated with children's discriminatory attitudes towards fully recovered children who contracted the 2009 Influenza A (H1N1), in order to provide fundamental information to improve health education for children. Methods: Cross-sectional data were collected from the entire 6th grade classes (N=2,323) of 11 elementary schools randomly selected from 11 school districts in the Seoul Metropolitan Area of South Korea. Questionnaires were used to assess participants' knowledge of and attitudes towards the Influenza A (H1N1) virus. Results: Multiple regression analyses were used to investigate the factors associated with children's discriminatory attitudes toward fully recovered children who had contracted the 2009 Influenza A (H1N1). Multiple regression analysis revealed that perceived risk of contracting and knowledge of 2009 influenza A (H1N1) were significant factors in predicting a child's attitude toward fully recovered Influenza A (H1N1) patients, after controlling for socioeconomic variables. Conclusion: The findings suggests that perceived risk and knowledge play important roles in formulating children's appropriate attitudes towards Novel influenza A (H1N1) patients who are fully recovered from the disease. To promote and maximize children's attitudes in this area, health education needs to be directed at children to reduce excessive concern about contracting the virus and to improve their overall health knowledge.

  • This study examined the treatment characteristics of hard-to-degrade pollutants such as TCE which are found in organic solvent and cleaning wastewater by nZVI that have excellent oxidation and reduction characteristics. In addition, this study tried to find out the degradation characteristics of TCE by Fenton-like process, in which $H_2O_2$ is dosed additionally. In this study, different ratios of nZVI and $H_2O_2$, such as 1.0 mM : 0.5 mM, 1.0 mM : 1.0 mM, and 1.0 mM : 2.0 mM were used. When 1.0 mM of nZVI was dosed with 1.0 mM of $H_2O_2$, the removal efficiency of TOC was the highest and the first order rate constant was also the highest. When 1mM of nZVI was dosed with 0.5 mM of $H_2O_2$, the first order rate constant and removal efficiency were the lowest. The size of first order rate constant and removal efficiency was in the order of nZVI 1.0 mM : $H_2O_2$ 1.0 mM > nZVI 1.0 mM : $H_2O_2$ 2.0 mM > nZVI 1.0 mM : $H_2O_2$ 0.5 mM > $H_2O_2$ 1.0 mM > nZVI 1.0 mM. It is estimated that when 1.0 mM of nZVI is dosed with 1.0 mM of $H_2O_2$, $Fe^{2+}$ ion generated by nZVI and $H_2O_2$ react in the stoichiometric molar ratio of 1:1, thus the first order rate constant and removal efficiency are the highest. And when 1.0 mM of nZVI is dosed with 2.0 mM of $H_2O_2$, excessive $H_2O_2$ work as a scavenger of OH radicals and excessive $H_2O_2$ reduce $Fe^{3+}$ into $Fe^{2+}$. As for the removal efficiency of TOC in TCE by simultaneous dose and sequential dose of nZVI and $H_2O_2$, sequential dose showed higher first order reaction rate and removal efficiency than simultaneous dose. It is estimated that when nZVI is dosed 30 minutes in advance, pre-treatment occurs and nanoscale $Fe^0$ is oxidized to $Fe^{2+}$ and TCE is pre-reduced and becomes easier to degrade. When $H_2O_2$ is dosed at this time, OH radicals are generated and degrade TCE actively.

  • Since the 2009 pandemic human H1N1 influenza A virus emerged in April 2009, novel reassortant strains have been identified throughout the world. This paper describes the detection and isolation of reassortant strains associated with human pandemic influenza H1N1 and swine influenza H1N2 (SIV) viruses in swine populations in South Korea. Two influenza H1N2 reassortants were detected, and subtyped by PCR. The strains were isolated using Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells, and genetically characterized by phylogenetic analysis for genetic diversity. They consisted of human, avian, and swine virus genes that were originated from the 2009 pandemic H1N1 virus and a neuraminidase (NA) gene from H1N2 SIV previously isolated in North America. This identification of reassortment events in swine farms raises concern that reassortant strains may continuously circulate within swine populations, calling for the further study and surveillance of pandemic H1N1 among swine.

  • The layered structure of organic-inorganic perovskite hybrids, $(C_nH_{2n+1}NH_3)_2CuC1_4$ (n = 6, 8, 10, 12) have synthesized. In $(C_nH_{2n+1}NH_3)_2CuC1_4$ compounds, the long-chain protonated alkylammonium ions as tilted bilayer type are inserted into perovskite-type layers of corner sharing $CuCl_6$ octahedron. Three solid phases have been characterized in the perovskite layered compound $(C_nH_{2n+1}NH_3)_2CuC1_4$ using HT-XRD and DSC. The $(C_nH_{2n+1}NH_3)_2CuC1_4$ compounds shows solid-solid phase transitions with stepwise increasing of the layer distance. Three different structures are explained by the conformational change of the long-chain protonated alkylammonium ions.

  • In late March of 2009, an outbreak of influenza in Mexico, was eventually identified as H1N1 influenza A. In June 2009, the World Health Organization raised a pandemic alert to the highest level. More than 214 countries have reported confirmed cases of pandemic H1N1 influenza A. In Korea, the first case of pandemic influenza A/H1N1 infection was reported on May 2, 2009. Between May 2009 and August 2010, 750,000 cases of pandemic influenza A/H1N1 were confirmed by laboratory test. The H1N1-related death toll was estimated to reach 252 individuals. Almost one billion cases of influenza occurs globally every year, resulting in 300,000 to 500,000 deaths. Influenza vaccination induces virus-neutralizing antibodies, mainly against hemagglutinin, which provide protection from invading virus. New quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine generates similar immune responses against the three influenza strains contained in two types of trivalent vaccines and superior responses against the additional B strain.
