Development of Ion Exchanger for Water Treatment (수처리를 위한 Ion 교환제의 개발)

  • This study was carried out to develop the low-priced adsorbent by synthesizing the zeolite of high cation exchange capacity with the natural zeolite and to examine the adsorbing ability of this zeolite. The dominant clay minerals were clinoptilolite and mordenite in natural zeolite, while phillipsite in the synthesized zeolite. Adsorption reaction of $NH_4^{+}$on zeolite was reached equilibrium after 2 hrs. The amount of adsorption was increased with increasing the concentration of $NH_4^{+}$or the pH of suspension. The cation exchange capacity of zeolite was slightly decreased below pH 4.0 by acidic treatment. It was estimated that the ability of the synthesized zeolite to remove noxious ions was better than that of the natural zeolite.

  • Distributed generation(DG) using microturbine will be adopted widely because of its various usages and merits such as high heat efficiency, environmental-friendliness. Commercialized DG using microtubine that rotates up to $60,000\~100,000[rpm]$ converters mechanical power to electricity by permanent magnet synchronous machine. This paper presents comparative test and simulation results of PMSM as generator. Test was done by diode rectifier and inverter. Parameters used in the simulation are driven from FEM analysis. Under various speed and load conditions, V-I characteristics matches well and it suggests the possibility of high speed PMSM as generator. DG operating at stand alone and grid connection mode will be developed.

  • In this paper, a new preform design method is proposed to eliminate the excessive flash in metal forging process. After carrying out finite element simulation of the process with an initial billet, backward particle tracing is performed from the outlet of the flash. Then, the region which belongs to the flash is easily found .. The process is analyzed again with the redesigned billet which is removed that region the above mentioned region. The optimal preform shape which minimizes the amount of flash without changing the forgibility can be obtained in several iterations.

  • In order to improve the system utility efficiency of energy conversion, it is desirable to operate the PV system at maximum power point of solar cell under versable condition. This paper describes the experimental results of the PV system that contains a solar modules and DC-DC converter(boost type chopper). The Simulation results show that the PV system always operate at maximum power point of solar cells having stabilize output voltage waveform with relatively small ripple component.

  • Thousand actinomycetes and 50 soil samples were used for the isolation of microorganisms producing yeast cell wall lytic enzymes. Among 493 strains producing large clear zones on autolysed washed yeast (AWY), 117 strains were selected on living yeast cell agar plates. With the method of lytic activity, one strain (St-1702) was selected, which was temporarily identified as Streptomyces eurythermus. The optimal condition for enzyme production of this strain was partially determined as follows: incubation of the strain for 3 days at 30$\circ$C in the medium containing 2% freeze dried yeast cell, 1% glucose, 1% K$_{2}$HPO$_{4}$, 0.01% MgSO$_{4}$'7H$_{2}$O, 0.5% peptone, and 0.2% (NH$_{4}$)$_{2}$CO$_{3}$ with pH 7.0. The protoplast formation of yeast by using the enzyme produced by this strain was compared with commercial enzymes.

Effect of Electric Fields on Flame Speed of Propagating Premixed Flames in Tube (전기장이 튜브내 예혼합화염 전파속도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The effect of electric fields on flame speed has been investigated experimentally by observing propagating premixed flames in a tube for methane/air mixtures. The flame speeds were measured in both the normal and micro gravity conditions to substantiate the measurements. The results show that the flame speeds were enhanced by both the AC and DC electric fields, as the flame approached to the high voltage electrode located on the one end of the tube. The enhancement of flame speed was proportional to the square root of the electric field intensity, defined as the voltage applied divided by the distance of flame from the high voltage electrode, when the electric field intensity is sufficiently large. When the electric field intensity was low, there existed critical intensities, below which the electric fields did not influence the flame speed. This critical electric field intensity correlated well with the flame speed.

  • Though a great deal of secondary metabolites and their bioactivities were discovered from the plants of the genus Hovenia, the structure-activity relationship was not well defined. To facilitate further pharmacological research and development in this area, we have summarized the progress of phytochemical and pharmacological research on the plants of the genus Hovenia.

  • Effects of process variables of HCD ion plating on the film composition of Ti(C, N) were analyzed. The mole ratio of carbon to nitrogen and that of non-metal to titanium in the film primarily depend on the partial pressure ratio of ($C-2H_2$/ $N_2$) and total reactive gas pressure, respectively. The amount of nonmetallic com-ponents increases in nonlinear fashion as the total gas pressure due to the different reactivity of $C-2H_2$ and $N_2$ gases with Ti. The nonmetallic components was saturated dwith nitrogen when the nitrogen gas was more than 60% of total reactive gas. These two process variables could be related systematically using the concept of effective pressure in which the difference of reactivity of each gas was normalized.

  • The correlation between crystallization and deformation behavior in the supercooled liquid region (SLR) of a $Cu_{54}Ni_{6}Zr_{22}Ti_{18}$ bulk metallic glass (BMG) alloy is investigated by compression tests, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electron energy loss spectrometry (EELS) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). In the SLR, This BMG alloy was strongly depended on the deformation temperature and the alloy exhibits important change in deformation behavior after a given time which is directly connected to the development of crystallization. Compressive stress impeded decomposition and consequently retarded forming of nano-crystal, which led to enlarge the homogeneous deformation region of the BMG alloy in SLR during compression test.

  • ISDN 을 구축하기 위한 망구조로 ISDN 의 다양한 서비스 수용 관점에서 Single Star 형 망구조가 가장 잠재력이 우수한 구조로 평가되고 있으며 Single Star 형 구조로 구축될 때 High Count Optical Fiber Cable 과 광커넥터 (단심, 다심) 가 요구된다. 그중 광커넥터는 광 가입자 망의 구축을 위해 필수적인 부품으로서 기술 추세는 다심화, 복합 기능화, 소형화, 저가격화, 고성능화, 고신뢰성화의 방향으로 진행되고 있다. 본 고에서는 향후 국내에서 적용 가능한 광케이블용 다심 광커넥터 개발을 위하여 외국에서 개발되어 있는 제품의 정렬원리, 정렬 구조 및 제조기술을 분석하였으며 또한 국내의 수요를 분석하였다. 수요 분석은 과거의 생산 실적 자료가 없는 이유로 정량적 분석법보다는 전화 가입자 수요 자료와 가입자 선로의 광케이블 계획, 그리고 광 CATV 가입자 예측 자료를 이용한 정성적인 방법을 적용하였다.
