In this study, the effects of the structural properties of the catalyst on CO oxidation reaction by controlling the $Cu/CeO_2$ catalyst amount and calcination temperature were studied, and also the CO conversion rate of the catalyst at the temperature range of $100{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ was evaluated. XRD, Raman, BET, $H_2-TPR$, and XPS analyses were performed to confirm the effect of changes in the structural properties on the chemical properties of the catalyst. The result confirmed that a substitution bond between Cu and Ce was formed and a lot of Cu and Ce bonds were formed when the catalyst carrying 5 wt.%. Of Cu was calcined at $400^{\circ}C$. The Cu-Ce binding was confirmed by peak shifts in Raman analysis and also peaks appeared in $H_2-TPR$. In addition, the balance state analysis demonstrated that a lot of surface labile oxygen molecules are formed, which can be more easily contributed to the reaction with $Ce^{3+}$ species known to form a substitution bond easily. It was found that CO conversion rate of the catalyst used in this study was close to 100% at $150^{\circ}C$.
Hydrogenated amorphous carbon(a-C:H) films were deposited on p-type Si(100) by DC saddle-field plasma enhanced CVD to investigate the effect of substrate bias on optical properties and structural changes. They were deposited using pure methane gas at a wide range of substrate bias at room temperature and 90 mtorr. The substrate bias voltage ($V_s$) was employed from $V_s=0 V$ to $V_s=400 V$. The information of optical properties was investigated by photoluminescence and transmitance. Chemical bondings of a-C:H have been explored from FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy. The thickness and relative hydrogen content of the films were measured by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS) and elastic recoil detection (ERD) technigue. The growth rate of a-C:H film was decreased with the increase of $V_s$, but the hydrogen content of the film was increased with the increase of $V_s$. The a-C:H films deposited at the lowest $V_s$ contain the smallest amount of hydrogen with most of C-H bonds in the of $CH_2$ configuration, whereas the films produced at higher $V_s$ reveal dominant the $CH_3$ bonding structure. The emission of white photoluminescence from the films were observed even with naked eyes at room temperature and the PL intensity of the film has the maximum value at $V_s$=200 V. With $V_s$ lower than 200 V, the PL intensity of the film increased with V, but for V, higher than 200 V, the PL intensity decreased with the increase of $V_s$. The peak energy of the PL spectra slightly shifted to the higher energy with the increase of $V_s$. The optical bandgap of the film, determined by optical transmittance, was increased from 1.5 eV at $V_s$=0V to 2.3 eV at $V_s$=400 V. But there were no obvious relations between the PL peak and the optical gap which were measured by Tauc process.

The effects of O2 plasma pre-treatment and post-annealing conditions on the interfacial adhesion of Ti thin film and WPR dielectric were investigated using 90° peel test for fan-out wafer level packaging (FOWLP) redistribution layer (RDL) applications. Peel strength between Ti film and WPR dielectric decreased from 8.9±1.3 g/mm to 2.7±0.9 g/mm for variation of O2 plasma pre-treatment time from 30s to 300s, which is closely related to C-O-C or C=O bonds breakage at the WPR dielectric surface due to excessive plasma pre-treatment conditions. During post-annealing at 150℃, the peel strength abruptly decreased from 0 h to 24 h, and then maintained constant until 100 h, which is also mainly due to the damage of WPR dielectric which is weak to high temperature. Therefore, the optimum plasma pre-treatment conditions on the surface of dielectric is essential to interfacial reliability of FOWLP RDL.
EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), a chelating agent is most widely used in industrial applications, especially for cleaning of metals in water, frequently prohibits metal removal from water in conventional water treatment technologies. It could be easier to remove aqueous metal ions by the breakdown of DETA complexed bonds first. This study investigated the availability of $TiO_2$ photo-catalysis for the aqueous phase oxidation of Cu(II)-EDTA, under an aerobic condition at $20^{\circ}C$ with $TiO_2$ (Degussa P-25) and 1.79mM of Cu(II)-EDTA. When $TiO_2$ loading was 2.0 g/L, the photo-catalytic oxidation of Cu(II)-EDTA was maximal. The tendency of EDTA adsorption onto the catalyst surface was affected by $TiO_2$ surface charge, and the oxidation rate of Cu(II)-EDTA by photo-catalysis was shown to be dependent upon the tendency of EDTA adsorption before photo-irradiation.
The $(Y,Gd)BO_3:Eu$ red phosphors for PDP application were synthesized by ultrasonic spray method and then their photoluminance properties were investigated under 147nm VUV irradiation. The precursor solution of acetates of Y, GD and Eu and boric acid diluted in water was sprayed using 1.7 MHz ultra-sonic sprayer into the reaction tube held at high temperature. The as-sprayed particles were amorphous phase having C-C and C-H bonds due to the insufficient thermal reaction during the pass along the tube. But the sprayed samples followed by heat treatment at $1100^{\circ}C$ had the same crystal structure and chemical composition as those samples followed by solid state reaction. It was found that the $(Y_{0.7}Gd_{0.3})_{0.95} BO_3:Eu_{0.05}^{3+}$ phosphor particles synthesized by spray at $500^{\circ}C$ and then heat treated at $900^{\circ}C$ had a spherical-like shape and fine particle size at $0.7{\mu\textrm{m}}$ having a narrow size distribution, while the phosphor particles made by solid state reaction was $3{\mu\textrm{m}}$ coarse and non-uniform size distribution. The emitting intensity under 147nm VUV excitation for $(Y_{0.7}Gd_{0.3})_{0.95}BO_3:Eu_{0.05}^{3+}$ phosphor prepared by spray method was found to be higher than those phosphor made by solid state reaction and the commercial $(Y,Gd)BO_3:Eu$ product.

The stability constants$(K_f)$ of the complexes of some transition and post-transition metal ions (Co(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ), Cd(Ⅱ), Pb(Ⅱ), Hg(Ⅱ)) with $N_2O_3$-donor macrocyclic ligand, 1,15-diaza-3,4 : 12,13-dibenzo-5,8,11-trioxacyclooctadecane ($NtnOdienH_4$), have been determined by potentiometry in aqueous solution at $25^{\circ}C$. Log $K_f$ values of the complexes were : Co(Ⅱ): 3.83, Ni(Ⅱ) : 4.56, Cu(Ⅱ) : 7.74, Zn(Ⅱ) : 4.98, Cd(Ⅱ) : 3.91, Pb(Ⅱ) : 6.65, and Hg(Ⅱ) : 14.87. The order of stabilities of transition metal complexes was the same as the natural order of stability proposed by Williams-Irving. In post-transition metal complexes, the order of stabilities was Cd(Ⅱ) < Pb(Ⅱ) < Hg(Ⅱ), and the covalent character in metal ion-donor atoms bonds appeared a dominant factor in the stability. In methanol solution, each metal ion forms 1 : 1 complex, while Ni(Ⅱ) ion forms both 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 complexes. It was confirmed by $^1H-$ and $^{13}C-$NMR spectral study that the nitrogen atoms in the ligand were major contributors for the complexation of post-transition metal ions with the ligand. It was shown, by elementry analysis, electrical conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements, and spectral analysis, that solid Cu(Ⅱ)-and Zn(Ⅱ)-complexes have a distorted octahedral and a tetrahedral structure, respectively.
Characteristics of TNP-cellulose which prepared from carboxymethyl cellulose powder, CM32, as substrate for cellulase activity assay were investigated. Enzymatic hydrolysis of TNP-cellulose occured on the cellulose moiety but not on amide bonds, following Michaelis-Menten kinetics. Three cellulase preparations from Trichoderma viride, Aspergillus niger, and Cellulomonas sp. were tested for their pH and temperature dependences and compared with the method determining the increase in reducing power. The enzyme activity was found to have the same temperature range in both methods, however the pH range was broadened in the case of using TNP-cellulose as substrate. The colorimetric method for cellulase assay using TNP-cellulose as substrate was compared with the other methods: one based on determination of the increase in reducing power; and the other based on determining the decrease in viscosity of Na-CM-cellulose solution. The activities measured by the colorimetric method showed a linear correlation with the enzyme concentration of certain range in all three enzymes tested, and the activity values were proportional to those obtained from the other methods. Depending on the enzyme, however, the activity values from this method were not always in proportion to those from the viscometric method. suggesting that this method was not specific for determination of the endo-type cellulase.

We checked the presence of phospholipase $A_2(PLA)_2$ which could split the ester bond at the position 2 in the glycerol backbone of glycerophospholipids, in the cells of hyperthermophiles of Pyrococcus horikoshii and Sulfolobus acidocaldarius. The results obtained are as follows; (1). Pyrococcus horikoshii cells were grown in obligate anaerobic conditions at $95^{\circ}C$ and they needed sulfur as energy source instead of oxygen, while Sulfolobus acidocaldarius species grew well in the aerobic medium (pH 2.5) containing yeast and sucrose at $75^{\circ}C$. (2). Pyrococcus horikoshii cells produced phospholipase $A_2$ in the cell culture media although this species did not show lipase activity at least in the pH range of 1.5 ${\sim}$ 3.5. Sulfolobus acidocaldarius cells produced lipase hydrolyzing triacylglycerols such as triolein, but did not split any kind of phospholipids used as substates. (3). The compound of 1-decanoyl-2-(p-nitrophenylglutaryl) phosphatidylcholine was not suitable for a substrate in this experiment, though frequently used as a subtrate for checking presence of phospholipase $A_2$, for its decomposi-tion in this experiment. The L-${\alpha}$-phosphatidylcholine-${\beta}$-[N-7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1, 3-diazol]aminohexanoyl-${\gamma}$-hexadecanoyl labelled with a fluorescent material, did not show any migration of acyl chains in the molecule during the reaction with phospholipase $A_2$ under a hot condition. (4). Phospholipase $A_2$ in the cells of Pyrococcus horikoshii, showed the optimum activity at $pH6.7{\sim}7.2$ and $95{\sim}105^{\circ}C$, respectively, and was activated by addition of calcium chloride solution. Andthe phospholipase $A_2$ specifically hydrolyzed glycero-phospholipids such as phosphatidyl choline, phosphatidyl ethanolamine, phosphatidyl serine and phosphatidyl inositol, but could not split phospholipid containing ether bonds in the molecule such as DL -${\alpha}$-phosphatidylcholine-${\beta}$-palmitoyl-${\gamma}$-O-hexadecyl, DL-${\alpha}$-phosphati- dylcholine-${\beta}$- oleoyl-${\gamma}$-O-hexadecyl, DL-phosphatidylcholine-dihexadecyl.
The purpose of this study is to investigate a possible contribution of nonspecific esterases, which occur in the oral cavity, to the degradation of ester bonds in polymethacrylates. One of the problems connected with the use of composite resins for restorations is their inadequate resistance to wear. It has been shown that methacrylate hydrolysis can be catalyzed by enzymes and that a carboxylic hydrolase (porcine liver esterase) catalyzed the hydrolysis of several mono - and dimethacrylates. The softening effect on a BISGMA/TEGDMA polymer induced by hydrolase will accelerate the in vivo wear of the polymer. Porcine liver esterase (EC 3.1.1.1) 3.2 mol/L $(NH_4)_2$$SO_4$ was obtained from Sigma Chemical Company. The esterase activity of one unit is defined as the amount of enzyme capable of hydrolyzing $l{\mu}mol$ ethyl butyrate per min at pH 8.0 AT $25^{\circ}C$. Phosphate buffer, 10mmol/L, pH 7.0, was made by adjustment of a solution of $Na_2HPO_4$ with $H_3PO_4$. Composite resins used in this study are Silux Plus, Z-100, Durafil VS, and Prisma APH. Cylindrical specimens, 14mm in diameter and 3mm thick, of Silux Plus, Z-100, Durafil VS, Prisma APH were polymerized under the celluloid strip. 60 specimens were divided into 2 groups. One group was emersed only in buffer solution, the other group was emersed in buffer and enzyme solution. Silux Plus and Z-100 were divided into 2 subgroups, one subgroup was cured only Visilux 2. And the other subgroup was cured Visilux 2 and Triaid II. Thereafter, specimens were polished to its best achievable surface according to manufacture's directions. The Vickers hardness of the specimens was measured after 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 15, 50 days. The solutions were changed after each measurement. Composite resin surfaces were evaluated for the surface roughness with profilometer (${\alpha}$-step 200, Tencor instruments, USA) after 1 and 50 days. And then surfaces of specimens were pictured with stereosopy after 1 and 50 days. The results were as follows. 1. The surface hardness of Silux plus, durafil VS, and Prisma APH were decreased with time. But, the surface hardness of Z-100 was not decreased. 2. The surface hardness of all composite resins was decreased by esterase. 3. Composite resins, which were light-cured by Visilux 2 and concomitantly baked by oven, showed more hardened surface than light-cured by Visilux 2 only. 4. Significant surface changes were occured in Silux plus after esterase treatment.
The crystal structure Tris(ethylenediamine)nickel(II)Dichromate has been determined by X-ray crystallography. Crystal data: a=8.268(2), b=13.865(2), c=14.921(2)Å, γ=102.04(2)°, V=1672.9(5)Å3, Z=4, Monocline, P21/b (space group No.=14), Dcalc=1.806 gcm-3, μ=24.05 cm-0.1. The intensity data were collected with Mo-Kα radiation(λ=0.7107Å) on an automatic four-circle diffractometer with a graphite monochromator. The structure was solved by Patterson method and refined by full matrix least-square methods using unit weights. The final R and S values were R=0.045, Rw=0.051, Rall=0.059 and S=2.171for 2248 observed reflections. The two carbon atoms of a ring of Ni(en)-ion were split into crossed four atoms. In consideration of α- and β-angles of two rings of a disordered ethylenediamine of Nien3-ion and the hydrogen bonds between Ni(en)3-cation and Cr2O7-anion, the configuration of Ni(en)3-ion is assumed to be disordered with Λδδδ and Λδδλ.
