Objectives : This study was aimed to find out the physiological mechanism of craniosacral therapy, especially in CV4 technique and cranial rhythmic impulses. Methods : Recent studies were reviewed for cranial rhythmic impulses, and the ancient and present text were reviewed for the therapy of sub-occiput and cranial-suture part. Results and Conclusions : 1. Suboccipital muscles releasing may have made CV4 technique to effect. 2. The mechanism of the meridians of acupuncture and craniosacral system can be cooperative together in many parts of the clinical treatments. 3. Arterial vasomotor waves have a frequency similar to reports of cranial rhythmic impulses. The methods which have relation to heart rate variability, will be useful for the study of craniosacral therapy.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to perform quantity and quality assessment of randomized controlled trials(RCTs) in the journal of oriental rehabilitation medicine(JORM). Methods : Upon extracting randomized controlled trial from all the articles published in the JORM from 1991 to 2009, assessments were made on the adequacy of the consolidated standards of reporting trials(CONSORT) checklist. The assessment were performed independently by two researchers, and adjustment of the differences were done by discussions. Results : Among the 824 articles from 1981 to 1999, 33 RCTs were selected. 4 RCTs were published from 1991 to 2002, and 29 RCTs were published from 2003 to 2009. Adequacy of the CONSORT checklist was 29.4%(27.3% from 1999 to 2005, 31.6% from 2006 to 2009). Conclusions : RCTs of the JORM consistently increased in quantity and quality. But researchers should make an effort to reporting more accurate.

Objectives : This report intended to estimate effects taken by using Dong-Qi Acupuncture Therapy on a patient with neurogenic bladder induced by transverse myelitis(712, L1 level). Methods : From 6th May, 2005 to 30th June, 2005. The patient received Dong-Qi Acupuncture Therapy. Results : 1. Since being hospitalized, the patient's voiding has improved from intermittent catheterization to independent urination state. And the volume of residual urine has decreased from 150cc-350cc to 0cc-l0cc. 2. The urodynamic findings showed that first sensation, maximal detrusor pressure, compliance and maximal bladder capacity changed from 456ml to 195mL, from 29cmH2O to 31cmH2O, from none to 25.31mL/cmH2O, from under 650mL to 590mL, respectively. Conclusion : We considered Dong-Qi Acupuncture Therapy had a useful effect on Neurogenic Bladder.

The purpose of this case study is to show a case of acute posterior cruciate ligament(PCL) complete injury improved by conservative acupuncture therapy. The patient was treated for 100 days. The patient received deep interarticular electroacupuncture(EA) stimulation at S35, LE200, LE211 and treated by other acupoint stimulation, herb medication, cupping, physical treatments and exercise. We evaluated through MRI and Lysholm knee score. We suggest to treat acute posterior cruciate ligament(PCL) injury with acupuncture therapy meaning conservative therapy and would like to research acupuncture treatment plan for the further treatments.

Objective : There is no case report on the Idiopathic Conjunctive treated by CHUNA manual therapy in oriental medicine. We experienced a patient with the Idiopathic Conhunctivitis improved by CHUNA manual therapy in X-ray imagine and visual analogue scale(VAS), and we report It. Methods : During the patient with the Idiopathic Conjunctivitis was treated CHUNA manual therapy, we examined cervial X-ray and evaluated the patient's symptoms by VAS and counting eye drop. And we observed whether the change exist or not in X-ray. Result : Symptoms(Red eye, eye xerosis) was improved significally, and the X -ray image was improved. Conclusion : Conjunctivitis was generally treated steroid eye drop and conservative treatment. But CHUNA manual therapy may be more effective in the Idiopathic Conjunctivitis, if more clinical studies and researchs are accomplished.

Hiccups are defined as abrupt involuntary contractions of diaphragm and intercostal muscles with sudden closure of the glottis. Hiccups are one of the common transient symptoms but when hiccups last more than 48 hours, or have no response to treatment, they are defined as intractable hiccups. Intractable hiccups can induce multiple problems such as weight loss, dehydration and sleep disturbance. We report a 76-year-old male patient who suffered from intractable hiccups for 6 days after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Hiccupping was so severe as to continue all day long and limit sleeping and eating. We succeeded in cure intractable hiccups with acupuncture and herbal formula; Gyulyeohwadam-tang.
