The radiation of sound from a rectangular plate with a guided edge condition is investigated. By taking this particular boundary condition into account, simple analytical forms of the average radiation efficiency and radiation power based on the modal approach can be found, where the cross-modal terms can average out for all possible point excitation locations. Design variables of the plate such as thickness, aspect ratio, and damping that are closely related to the sound radiation are mainly discussed. The radiation power of the guided plate is found to be governed by the piston mode as well as the critical frequency. While both the radiation efficiency and the radiation power seem to be influenced by thickness and a large aspect ratio, damping loss factor seems less important to the radiation power. It is also shown that no clear corner and edge mode regions may be found for the guided case, unlike the pinned.
Corrosion of reinforcing steel bars is a major concern for ocean engineers when reinforced concrete structures are exposed to marine environments. Evaluating the degree of corrosion and corrosion-induced defects is extremely necessary to pursue a proper retrofit or rehabilitation plan for reinforced concrete structures. A promising inspection should be carried out for the evaluation, otherwise the retrofit or rehabilitation process would be useless. Nowadays, ultrasonic guided wave-based inspection techniques become quite promising for the inspection, mainly because of their long-range propagation capability and their sensitivity to different types of defects or conditions. Evaluating haw the guided waves response to the different types of defects or conditions is quite challenging and important. This study shows how surface conditions of reinforcing bars and a corrosion-induced defect, separation, affect guided wave propagation in reinforced concrete. Experiments and associated signal analysis show the sensitivity of guided waves to the surface conditions, as well as the amounts of separation at the interface between. concrete and steel bar.

In order for a gun-launched guided projectile to glide to the maximum range, when to deploy the fin and start flight with guidance and control should be considered in range optimization process. This study suggests a solution to the optimal guidance problem for flight range maximization of the flight model of a guided projectile in vertical plane considering the aerodynamic properties. After converting the nonlinear Multi-Phase Optimal Control Problem to Two-Point Boundary Value Problem, the optimized guidance command and the best fin deployment timing are calculated by the proposed numerical method. The optimization results of the multiple flight rounds with various initial velocity and launch angle indicate that determining specific launch condition incorporated with the guidance scheme is of importance in terms of mechanical energy consumption.

Launch Acceptability Region(LAR) is a region for an aircraft which carries air-to-ground guided bombs to enter such that it can successfully hit the target. LAR should consider the release condition of an aircraft, impact condition for targets, and environmental condition of atmosphere. In this paper, LAR algorithm was developed using the database of many simulations which were varied by inputs, such as the release, impact, and environmental conditions. The algorithm was tested through the direct simulation results, and found that it was suitable to apply as LAR for air-to-ground guided bomb.
The purpose of this study was to test the effect of guided imagery on blood pressure and pulse rate. The subjects were thirty-nine nursing students in I university located in Busan, Korea To enhance the effect of treatment, they were trained getting themselves absorbed in guided imagery on three different occasions before the study. Actually in the study, the subjects were given instruction in Mason's guided imagery for 19 minutes and 58 seconds. Blood pressure and pulse rate were measured before and after guided imagery application. The data were analyzed through paired t-test. The Results were as follows : 1) There was a significant decrease in systolic blood pressure after the use of guided imagery. 2) There was no significant decrease in diastolic blood pressure after the use of guided imagery. 3) There was a significant decrease in pulse rate after the use of guided imagery. These results indicate that guided imagery is a helpful technique for decreasing blood pressure and pulse rate, which are increased in stress condition.
This study aims at numerically and experimentally investigating torsional guided wave mixing with weak material nonlinearity under acoustoelastic effect in tubular structures. The acoustoelastic effect on single central frequency guided wave propagation in structures has been well-established. However, the acoustoelastic on guided wave mixing has not been fully explored. This study employs a three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model to simulate the effect of stress on guided wave mixing in tubular structures. The nonlinear strain energy function and theory of incremental deformation are implemented in the 3D FE model to simulate the guided wave mixing with weak material nonlinearity under acoustoelastic effect. Experiments are carried out to measure the nonlinear features, such as combinational harmonics and second harmonics in related to different levels of applied stresses. The experimental results are compared with the 3D FE simulation. The results show that the generation combinational harmonic at sum frequency provides valuable stress information for tubular structures, and also useful for damage diagnosis. The findings of this study provide physical insights into the effect of applied stresses on the combinational harmonic generation due to wave mixing. The results are important for applying the guided wave mixing for in-situ monitoring of structures, which are subjected to different levels of loadings under operational condition.
The ultrasonic guided wave-based technique has become one of the most promising methods in non-destructive evaluation and structural health monitoring, because of its advantages of large area inspection, evaluating inaccessible areas on the structure and high sensitivity to small damage. To further advance the development of damage detection technologies using ultrasonic guided waves for the inspection of welded components in structures, the transmission characteristics of the ultrasonic guided waves propagating through welded joints with various types of defects or damage in steel plates are studied and presented in this paper. A three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model considering the different material properties of the mild steel, high strength steel and austenitic stainless steel plates and their corresponding welded joints as well as the interaction condition of the steel plate and welded joint, is developed. The FE model is validated against analytical solutions and experimental results reported in the literature and is demonstrated to be capable of providing a reliable prediction on the features of ultrasonic guided wave propagating through steel plates with welded joints and interacting with defects. Mode conversion and scattering analysis of guided waves transmitted through the different types of weld defects in steel plates are performed by using the validated FE model. Parametric studies are undertaken to elucidate the effects of several basic parameters for various types of weld defects on the transmission performance of guided waves. The findings of this research can provide a better understanding of the transmission behaviour of ultrasonic guided waves propagating through welded joints with defects. The method could be used for improving the performance of guided wave damage detection methods.
Recently, many techniques have been developed for the inspection of pipelines using guided waves. However, few researches have been made on the application of those techniques for buried underground pipes. Guided wave motions in the buried pipes are somewhat different from those of on-ground pipes which have traction-free (air) boundary condition on outer pipe walls and thus are strongly affected by the mechanical property of the surrounding soils. Therefore, it should be investigated the effect of soil properties on the guided wave behavior in buried pipe. On the other hand, the mechanical property of soil is largely depending on its moisture conditions nevertheless of other influential factors such as void ratio. In this study, the effect of moisture conditions in soils on mode attenuation of guided waves in the buried pipe is investigated. To this end, numerical study is performed to characterize mode attenuation behavior in buried pipes and the effective mode which is suitable for long range inspection is identified.

Presented in this paper is a new experimental technique to measure material properties of lock plate of gas turbine plants by using ultrasonic guided wave. In comparison with the mechanical destructive testings, material characterization of the Inconel x-750 was nondestructively carried out in a more efficient manner to discriminate the change in elastic moduli and the poisson's ratio attributed to the variation of heat treatment condition. The proposed technique shows a satisfactory feasibility via the comparative experiments with the imported lock plate specimens. It is also expected that the guided wave technique can cover a longer and wider range as a new cost-&-time-saving inspection tool due to the interaction with a greater part of specimen, compared to a conventional local point-by-point scheme.

In this paper we developed the MPC sensor for steering control and steering control of the AGVDS(Autonomous Guided Vehicle Driving System) for Durability test. Among durability tests, the accelerated durability test has been widely used to evaluate the durability of vehicle structure and chassis parts in a short period of time on the designed road that has severe surface conditions. However it increased the drivers fatigue mainly caused by the severe driving conditions. The driver's difficulty to maintain the constant speed and control the steering wheel reduces the reliability of test results. In addition to the general detecting sensor for steering control was restricted by surrounding condition. So we need to develop steering control sensor was robust in the bad driving condition. In this paper we developed steering control sensor using magnetic induction which is robust in the bad driving condition and implemented the AGVDS.
