강재 방호벽에 대한 차량의 충돌 시뮬레이션 (Crash Simulation of a Vehicle Against Steel Guardrails)

  • The real vehicle crash experiment is the best way to evaluate the performance of a guardrail. However the experiment is very expensive because of high cost of vehicles and guardrail installation. Thus in this study, crash simulation of a vehicle against a steel guardrail is performed using LS-DYNA. There are many researches on the impact of a vehicle against a guardrail. However the friction between a vehicle and a guardrail is not considered, although it affects considerably the behavior of a guardrail. In this paper, the friction coefficient is applied to evaluate correctly the performance of a guardrail.

차량충돌에 대한 보강토 옹벽 안전성 확보를 위한 가드레일 설치거리 (Establishment of Guardrail Distance for Safety of Reinforced Earth Retaining Wall by Vehide Collision)

  • In this study, the numerical analyses regarding the distance between the guardrail and the reinforced earth wall as parameter were performed to determine the safe distance of guardrail installed on reinforced earth wall from the reinforced earth wall. The analyses were fulfilled by increasing the distance between the guardrail and reinforced earth wall from 150mm to 750mm. The computer program used in this research is LS-DYNA, which is very' popular in analysis of vehicle collision. Ford single unit truck in NCAC was employed as the model of vehicle and the velocity of vehicle collision was 80km/hr. As a results of analyses, the safety of guardrail was secured regardless of the distance between the guardrail and block of reinforced earth wall. However, to secure the safety of block of reinforced earth wall the distance between the guardrail and block of reinforced earth wall should be over 600mm.

LS-DYNA를 이용한 비탈면에 설치된 가드레일 지주의 동적거동 (Analysis of the Dynamic Behavior of Guardrail Posts in Sloping Ground using LS-DYNA)

  • PURPOSES : This paper presents a finite element model to accurately represent the soil-post interaction of single guardrail posts in sloping ground. In this study, the maximum lateral resistance of a guardrail post has been investigated under static and dynamic loadings, with respect given to several parameters including post shape, embedment depth, ground inclination, and embedment location of the steel post. METHODS : Because current analytical methods applied to horizontal ground, including Winkler's elastic spring model and the p-y curve method, cannot be directly applied to sloping ground, it is necessary to seek an alternative 3-D finite element model. For this purpose, a 3D FHWA soil model for road-base soils, as constructed using LS-DYNA, has been adopted to estimate the dynamic behavior of single guardrail posts using the pendulum drop test. RESULTS : For a laterally loaded guardrail post near slopes under static and dynamic loadings, the maximum lateral resistance of a guardrail post has been found to be reduced by approximately 12% and 13% relative to the static analysis and pendulum testing, respectively, due to the effects of ground inclination. CONCLUSIONS : It is expected that the proposed soil material model can be applied to guardrail systems installed near slopes.

지주 형상에 따른 3차원 지반재료 모델의 경기장 보행자용 가드레일 동적성능 평가 (Dynamic Performance of Pedestrian Guardrail System based on 3-D Soil Material Model according to Post Shapes)

  • This study investigated the embedded depth of guardrail posts through 3-D soil material model and carried out evaluation of the dynamic performance of guard rail. In order to calculate for embedded depth of sloping ground, displacement of guardrail posts is analyzed according to the embedded depth of experiment variables. Through the static test of guardrail posts, the maximum deflection was found to decrease the interval. By performing the dynamic test using the Bogie Car, that is confirmed the elastic modulus of the soil occuring the maximum deflection. Guardrail posts is considered to need for further reinforcement in the larger slope than the plains. This study researched about maximum displacement and deviation velocity through dynamic performance of guardrail system and conducted analysis about protection performance evaluation of passenger.

충돌해석을 통한 방호울타리의 설계 (Design of a Protection Fence by Crashworthiness Analysis)

  • In this study, designs of protection fences such as the concrete median barrier and the guardrail were performed. The foreign standard of concrete median barrier was introduced and implemented without modification fitting to domestic vehicles and highway conditions. In a car accident, median barrier doesn't protect vehicles effectively, especially for heavy vehicles such as bus and heavy truck. Guardrail doesn't protect vehicle effectively, either. The purpose of this study is to develop the optimal performance design of concrete median barrier and design of guardrail using the design of experiment as well as crashworthiness analysis which is done by Pam-Crash. As a result of this study, an optimal design of concrete median barrier was obtained considering von Mises stress, volume and COG acceleration of truck. And design of guardrail satisfying the domestic requirements was obtained.

가드레일에 차량 충돌 시 성토사면의 거동분석 (Behavior Analysis of Fill Slope by Vehicle Collision on Guardrail)

  • 최근 산업의 발달로 증가하는 도로와 이를 이용하는 차량의 증가로 인한 교통사고가 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 교통사고는 운전자과실, 차량결함, 주행도로상태, 자연환경 등의 다양한 불안정 인자들로 인하여 발생한다. 방호울타리의 한 종류인 가드레일은 교통사고 및 이탈을 방지하여 탑승자의 상해와 차량의 파손을 최소로 줄여 차량을 정상주행 시키는 것을 목적으로 한다. 가드레일은 8 tonf 차량이 $15^{\circ}$로 80 km/h의 속도로 가드레일에 충돌하는 시험으로 가드레일의 안정성을 평가하며, 지반은 상대적으로 지지력이 큰 무한평지에서 평가된다. 하지만 국내의 경우 성토사면에 설치된 가드레일은 보호길어깨에 설치되며, 이로 인해 가드레일의 지지력 저하 및 성능저하로 가드레일의 안정성에 문제가 발생할 가능성이 있다. 이러한 가드레일에 대한 기존 연구는 무한평지에 설치된 가드레일 및 차량의 안정성에 대한 연구가 수행되었다. 하지만 차량 충돌 시 가드레일이 설치된 성토사면의 거동에 대한 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 차량 충돌 시 성토사면의 거동을 확인하기 위해 유한요소프로그램인 LS-DYNA를 이용하여 성토사면에 설치된 가드레일의 지주 매입깊이를 변화시켜 수치해석을 수행하였다. 그리고 수치해석은 NCAN(National Crash Analysis Center)에서 제공하는 8 tonf 트럭을 이용하여 성토사면에서 가드레일 지주의 매입깊이를 변화시키면서 충돌 해석을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 가드레일 지주의 매입깊이가 증가함에 따라 성토사면의 변위와 응력이 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 450 mm 깊이에서 지반지지력이 저하되는 것으로 나타났다.

  • New Thrie-Beam guardrail section has been developed. The Characteristic of its geometry, energy absorbing capability and response to impact has been studied and compared with those of conventional W-Beam guardrail system. To compare the response to impact computer simulation using Barrier Ⅶ program was made. Stretch tests and static loading tests were conducted for the performance verifications.

Design of Emergency Fire Fighting and Inspection Robot Riding on Highway Guardrail

  • Based on the problems of untimely Expressway fire rescue and backward traditional fire rescue methods, an emergency fire fighting and inspection robot riding on expressway guardrail is designed. The overall mechanical structure design of emergency fire fighting and inspection robot riding on expressway guardrail is completed by using three-dimensional design software. The target fire detection is realized by using the target detection algorithm of Yolov5; By selecting a variety of sensors and using the control method of multi algorithm fusion, the basic function of robot on duty early warning is realized, and it has the ability of intelligent fire extinguishing. The BMS battery charging and discharging system is used to detect the real-time power of the robot. The design of the expressway emergency fire fighting and inspection robot provides a new technical means for the development of emergency fire fighting equipment, and improves the reliability and efficiency of expressway emergency fire fighting.

DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF SCALED-DOWN W-BEAMS UNDER IMPACT

  • W-beam guardrail system has been the most popular roadside safety device around the world. Through large plastic deformation and corresponding energy dissipation, a W-beam guardrail system contains and re-directs out-of-control vehicles so as to reduce the impact damage on the vehicle occupants and the vehicles themselves. In this paper, our recent experiments on 1 : 3.75 downscaled W-beam and the beam-post system are reported. The static and impact test results on the load characteristics, the global response and the local cross-sectional distortion are reveled. The effects of three different end-boundary conditions for the beam-only testing are examined. It is found that the load characteristics are much dependent on the combined contribution of the local cross-sectional distortion and the end-supporting conditions. The energy Partitioning between the beam and the supporting Posts in the beam-Post-system testing were also examined. The results showed that the energy dissipation partitioning changed with the input impact energy. Finally, a simple mass-spring model is developed to assess the dynamic response of a W-beam guardrail system in response to an impact loading. The model's prediction agrees well with the experimental results.

비계작업의 추락재해예방을 위한 선행 안전난간 공법의 도입 타당성 분석 (Feasibility Analysis for Introduction of Scaffolding with Advanced Guardrail System to Prevent Falls)

  • In the construction sector, there were 99 fatalities from falls associated with steel tube and system scaffolds for three years from 2016 to 2018 and out of which 27.3 percent (27 workers) were found to have occurred during installing and dismantling procedure. To erect scaffolding which is installed for the work at height, the work platforms are generally installed first and the safety guardrails are installed and vice versa to dismantle. As a result, workers are exposed to the risk of falling because they erect and dismantle scaffolding without guardrails. To minimize the risk of falling, it is necessary to study a new construction method that can erect or dismantle scaffolding while guardrails are installed (called advanced guardrail system). This study analyzed advanced guardrail system in terms of safety regulation, workability and economic efficiency by investigating the domestic situation on the use of scaffolding, reviewing domestic and foreign standards for guardrails and conducting economic feasibility study. The results of this study is expected to greatly contribute to preventing falls in scaffolding installation and dismantlement procedure. As a follow-up study, empirical research is required including physical test of scaffolding with advanced guardrail system and effectiveness analysis after trial applications.
