  • The purpose of this study is to explore the growth and development process of peer counselors in the field of disability. The field experiences of 19 peer counselors with disabilities and peer counselors who parents of children with disabilities were analyzed using the grounded theory method. As a result, first, central phenomenon were 'assuming the role of a peer counselor' and 'motor of role performance'. Intervening conditions were 'the perception that counseling is difficult', 'self-consciousness deriving from the lack of competency' and 'the status of insufficient peer counseling'. Action/interaction strategies were 'strengthening inner capacities' and 'promoting external activities'. Consequences were 'change and growth as a peer counselor', 'an expansion of activities other than peer counseling', and 'propose development tasks for peer counseling'. Second, their growth and development process was confirmed in four stages: 'the stage of introductory counseling education beyond disability', 'the stage of growth through change', 'the stage of career exploration through Competency Enhancement', and 'the stage of entry through role challenge'. Third, main theme was 'growth and development as a peer counselor is based on capacity building'.

  • The study investigated if IT investment in Korean financial markets for the past 18 years has grown following the s-curve pattern based on Nolan's growth model in order to find the correlation between IT investment and management performance in the financial industry. According to the research finding it can be said that the overall financial markets maintain s-curve pattern, and IT investment is related to management performance, particularly increase in total assets and net profit. However, each sector has defining features of growth patterns. The banking industry has grown similarly to the s-curve, and the insurance industry also shows the s-curve but it looks more like linear pattern. In terms of securities industry, its growth patterns can hardly be considered s-curve due to the irregular changes. his research outcome illustrates the analysis of IT growth patterns in the financial industry and thus, it is expected to be a useful reference when deciding the appropriate time for IT investment in the financial industry.

  • We analyze the software reliability growth models for the specified period from the viewpoint of theory of differential equations. we defien a genralized form of reliability growth models as follws: dN(t)/dt = b(t)f(N(t)), Where N(t) is the number of remaining faults and b(t) is the failure rate per software fault at time t. We show that the well-known three software reliability growth models - Goel - Okumoto, s-shaped, and Musa-Okumoto model- are special cases of the generalized form. We, also, extend the generalized form into an extended form being dN(t)/dt = b(t, .gamma.)f(N(t)), The genneralized form can be obtained if the distribution of failures is given. The extended form can be used to describe a software reliabilit growth model having weibull density function as a fault exposure rate. As an application of the generalized form, we classify three mentioned models according to the forms of b(t) and f(N(t)). Also, we present a case study applying the generalized form.

  • The fatigue crack growth under mixed mode condition has been discussed within the scope of linear fracture mechanics such as maximum tangential stress, maximum tangential principal stress and minimum strain energy density. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of fatigue test crack growth in 304 stainless steel under mixed node. The fatigue test results carried out by using inclined pre-crack specimens was compared to both of the theoretical predictions of the criteria, maximum tangential stress and stain energy density. As difference from theoretical analysis, the transition region from mixed mode to mode I appeared in the fatigue test. There is deep relationship between the angle of slanted pre-crack and transition. Therefore, as applying the different stress intensity factor to each node I+II and mode I, the directions and rates of fatigue crack growth are evaluated more accurately under mixed mode.

  • In this paper, Compression in the case where dissimilar blocks are twinned variously are carried out in the condition of lubricated interface. The degree of growth is experimentally investigated. Moreover, numerical simulations are carried out by the elastic-plastic FEM for the case of the dissimilar blocks with the initial sawtooth angle of 60。. The dissimilar blocks are twinned, larger difference between material properties leads smaller growth, and the degreased interface leads smaller growth than that in the lubricated one. Furthermore, by the simulation of compression where dissimilar blocks are twinned, it is confirmed that the tendency of the general deformation pattern is very similar to the experiment.

  • An investigation was performed to establish the mathematical theories of a vibration for the plant growth and a wave distribution of a plant population on the boundary condition of a limiting factor in the environment. The mathematical theories of the plant growth vibration and wave distribution had been elucidated by the plant growth and the timber line on the middle slope of the west side of Mt. Paektu. The Betula ermaruii composes the timber line on about 2,060 m elevation of sea label, has a growth vibration on the ground surface and takes a wave distribution due to a boundary condition of alpine temperature gradient.

  • During sintering of cemented carbides abnormal grain growth is often observed but cannot be understood from the classical LSW-theory. A model based on 2-D nucleation of new crystalline layers and a grain-size distribution function is formulated and the equations are solved numerically. Experimental studies and computer simulations show that the initial grain size distribution has a strong effect on the grain growth behavior. For example, a fine-grained powder can grow past a coarser powder.

  • The purpose of this paper is to survey existing literature and empirical studies about the effect of unions on productivity and productivity growth in US and British. Evidence regarding union effects on productivity is incomplete in the studies surveyed in this paper. Unions have a positive effect on productivity in US, but the most of studies in British show that unions have a negative effect. But the direction and magnitude of union effects on productivity growth cannot be predicted from economic theory. It may be that there is no unitary relationship between unions and productivity growth. The comprehensive conclusion about the effects of unions on productivity growth cannot be drawn from the studies surveyed in this paper. The question of whether unions have a positive effect or negative effect on productivity and productivity growth is an empirical issue.

  • This study utilized South Korean elementary and middle school student data to examine the longitudinal change trajectories of learning motivation types according to the longitudinal change trajectories of mathematics academic achievement. Growth mixture modeling, latent growth model, and multiple indicator latent growth model were used to examine various change trajectories for longitudinal data. As a result of the analysis, it was classified into 4 subgroups with similar longitudinal change trajectories of mathematics academic achievement, and the characteristics of the mathematics subject, which emphasize systematicity, appeared. Furthermore, higher mathematics academic achievement was associated with higher self-determination and higher academic motivation. And as the grade level increases, amotivation increases and self-determination decreases. This study suggests that teaching and learning support using this is necessary because the level of learning motivation according to self-determination is different depending on the level of mathematics academic achievement reflecting the characteristics of the student.

  • Maximization of productivity of recombinant cell fermentations requires consideration of the inverse relationship between the host cell growth rate and product formation rate. The problem of maximizing a weighted performance index was solved by using optimal control theory for recombinant E. coli fermentation. Concentration of a growth inhibitor was used as a control variable to manipulate the specific growth rate, and consequently the cloned-gene expression rate. Using a simple unstructured model to describe the main characteristics of this system, theoretical analysis showed that the optimal control profile results in an initial high growth rate phase followed by a low growth rate and high product formation rate phase. Numerical calculations were done to determine optimal switching times from the growth to the production stage for two representative cases corresponding to different dependency of the product formation rate on the growth rate. For the case when product formation rate is sensitive to the specific growth rate, the optimized operation yields about 60% increase in the final product concentration compared with a simple batch fermentation.
