There have been growing concerns of algal growth at Daecheong reservoir due to eutrophication with excess nutrient inflow. Rainfall-driven runoff and pollutant from watershed are responsible for eutrophication of the Daecheong reservoir. In this study, two subwatersheds of the Daecheong reservoir were selected and water quality characteristics were analyzed. The L-THIA ArcView GIS model was used for evaluation of direct runoff and water quality. The $R^2$ and the EI value for direct runoff were 0.95 and 0.93 at Wol-oe watershed and were 0.81, 0.71 at An-nae watershed, respectively. The $R^2$ for SS, T-P were 0.53, 0.95 at Wol-oe watershed and 0.89, 0.89 at An-nae watershed, respectively. It has been proven that the L-THIA ArcView GIS model could be used for evaluating direct runoff and pollutant load from the watershed with reasonable accuracies.

A strain of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) was isolated from a weed, water chickweed (Stellaria aquatica), growing in the pepper field in Chunchon, Korea. This isolate, CMV-Sa, was differentiated from other CMVs based on biological properties and nucleotide sequence analysis of the coat protein (CP) gene. CMV-Sa showed different reactions to all the tested plants, except Capsicum annuum and Cucumis sativus, when compar-ed with those of CMV-Mf (subgroup I) and CMV-PaFM (subgroup II). Remarkably, in Nicotiana tabacum cvs. Samsun, Xanthi-nc and Ky-57, CMV-Sa induced local necrotic ring spots on the inoculated leaves and venal wave pattern and mosaic on the upper leaves. RNA analysis, serology, and RT-PCR of CP gene showed that CMV-Sa belonged to subgroup I of CMV. However, restriction enzyme analysis of the cDNA using AluI, HhaI, HincII, HindIII, HinfI and MspI showed that CMV-Sa was distinct from that of CMV-Mf. Based on comparison of the nucleotide of CP gene and deduced amino acid sequences between other CMV strains, CMV-Sa was closely related to CMV-Mf with 93.7% and 97.2 % identity, respectively.

The ship recycling industry is growing rapidly. It is estimated that the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) decision to phase-out single hull tankers by 2015 will result in hundreds of ships requiring disposal. At present, the ship recycling industry is predominantly based in South Asia. Due to the bad practice of current scrapping procedure, the paper will highlight the harm occurring to health, safety and environment. The efforts of the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) which led to the signing of the Hong Kong International Convention are also reviewed. The criteria and standards required to reduce the risk and damage to the environment are discussed and a proposed plan for the safe scrapping of ships is then presented. A technological and economic study for the ship recycling in Egypt is carried out as a case study. This includes the ship recycling facility size and layout. The equipment and staff required to operate the facility are also evaluated. A cost analysis is then carried out. This includes site development, human resources, machineries and equipment. A fuzzy logic approach is used to assess the benefits of the ship breaking yard. The use of the fuzzy logic approach is found suitable to make decisions for the ship breaking industry. Based on given constraints, the proposed model has proved capable of assessing the profit and the internal rate of return.
With the growing usage of the networks, the world-wide Internet has become the main means to exchange data and carry out transactions. It has also become the main means to attack hosts. To solve the security problems which occur in the network such as Internet, we import software products of network security elements like an IDS (Intrusion Detection System) and a firewall. In this paper, we have designed and constructed the general simulation environment of network security model composed of multiple IDSes and a firewall which coordinate by CNP (Contract Net Protocol) for the effective detection of the intrusion. The CNP, the methodology for efficient integration of computer systems on heterogeneous environment such as distributed systems, is essentially a collection of agents, which cooperate to resolve a problem. Command console in the CNP is a manager who controls the execution of agents or a contractee, who performs intrusion detection. In the network security model, each model of simulation environment is hierarchically designed by DEVS(Discrete Event system Specification) formalism. The purpose of this simulation is that the application of rete pattern-matching algorithm speeds up the inference cycle phases of the intrusion detection expert system and we evaluate the characteristics and performance of CNP architecture with rete pattern-matching algorithm.

The study aims to figure out the problems of Daldongnae (hillside shantytown) in Jaman-dong, Jeonju, and to propose the countermeasures for village regeneration. Based on the survey of current conditions in the area and the case study of successful regeneration projects, this study suggests regenerating concepts for the community. The study on the current state analyzes that Jaman-dong is faced with the population decline, especially among the young, the lack of community facilities and infrastructure, and the unfavorable situation in the residential environment. The case study involves three successful Daldongnae regeneration projects: the culture-based regeneration of Cultural Village (in Gamcheon-dong, Busan), the regeneration focused on healthcare and education of Ibagugil (in Choryang-dong, Busan), and the community-led regeneration of Rainbow Village (in Dae-dong, Daejeon). The regenerating concepts for the community are as follows: utilizing the existing local community center as a gathering place for the residents, furnishing a cultural space for a growing number of visitors, adding new parking space, installing convenient facilities in order to provide better pedestrian environment for the disabled and elderly, improving street landscapes, and establishing citizen participation programs.
Pharmaceuticals in the aquatic environment are trace contaminants of growing importance in environmental health due to their physiologically active nature. Pharmaceuticals could affect non-target species and might eventually damage sustainability of susceptible populations in the ecosystem. Potentials for health consequences among susceptible human population cannot be ruled out since long-term exposure to cocktails of pharmaceuticals, which might be present in drinking water, is possible. Selection of antibiotic resistant microorganisms is of another concern. In order to understand, and if needed, to properly address the environmental health issues of pharmaceutical residues, knowledge gaps need to be filled. Knowledge gaps exist in many important areas such as prioritization of target pharmaceuticals for further risk studies, occurrence patterns in different environments, chronic toxicities, and toxicities of pharmaceutical mixtures. Appropriate treatment technologies for drinking water and wastewater could be developed when they are deemed necessary. One of the simplest, yet most efficient measures that could be undertaken is to implement a return program for unused or expired drugs. In addition, implementation of environmental risk assessment frameworks for pharmaceuticals would make it possible to efficiently manage potential environmental health problems associated with pharmaceutical residues in the environment.
Recently, there have been a growing number of services for users to shoot content by themselves and to broadcast this data to a large number through the Internet. One-person media live services are popular in life, and similar services are becoming common. Most of these services are for general users. However, depending on the service model or the situation, there are cases where the object of streaming is limited depending on the security-sensitive service environment. Especially, in the case of closed networks such as military, government, and security organizations, these specialized services are needed. Therefore, in this paper, we implemented a live media system in a closed network environment. We study system components suitable for service environment and study how to develop components.

The promotion of walking and bicycling is recently a hot topic in the urban planning and design field. Many planners have already examined the many components of the land use-transportation connection and built environment-physical activity link. A rapidly growing area of urban form research is to measure the level of walk-ability in urban environments. With this background, this research conducted a preliminary study to develop the evaluation indicators of pedestrian environments. Based on the literature reviews on walking or pedestrian environments, we proposed the seventeen indicators related with pedestrian facilities, road attributes and walking environment. We also performed a questionary survey to evaluate the satisfaction of their neighborhood pedestrian environments for 302 randomly selected adults living in the City of Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do. Finally, this research provided the valid model to evaluate the effects of physical environmental factors on the walking satisfaction using factor analysis and multiple regression analysis.

To determine the optimal medium conditions for the detection of the cellulolytic activity in Ganoderma lucidum, we varied three media conditions: dye reagent, pH, and temperature. First, we evaluated the use of four dyes, Congo Red, Phenol Red, Remazol Brilliant Blue, and Trypan Blue. To observe the effect of pH on the chromogenic reaction, we also made and tested various media spanning acidic and alkaline pHs, ranging from 4.5 to 8.0. Furthermore, in order to research the effect of temperature on the clear zone and the fungus growing zone, we tested temperatures ranging from 15 to $35{^{\circ}C}$. On the whole, the best protocol called for Ganoderma lucidum transfer onto media containing Congo red with pH adjusted to 7.0, followed by incubation at $25{^{\circ}C}$ for 5 days. Our results will be useful to researchers who aim to study extracellular enzyme activity in Ganoderma lucidum.
