A 15-year-old female with primary amenorrhea and Tuner's syndrome feature was referred for a chromosome analysis. The karyotype of the patient was 45,X/46,X,der(Y) mosaicism under initial GTG-banding analysis. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis with probe for CEP X probes and SRY probe (Vysis, Inc. Downers Grove, IL 60515, USA) was carried out. This probe is direct labeled with SpectrumOrange (SRY, Yp11.3) and is available as a single probe or mixed with the CEP X SpectrumGreen probe. SRY SpectrumOrange/CEP X SpectrumGreen hybridized to a specimen obtained from an two isodicentric Y chromosomes. The karyotype of the patient was ish Xcen(DXZ1x1)/Xcen(DXZ1x1), Yp11.3(SRYx2) by using FISH. This karyotype was considered a variant of Tuner syndrome with mixed gonadal dysgenesis (MGD), male pseudohermaphroitism (MPH) and apparently normal male.

This study attempted to visually inspect eight hundred wood crafts collected from various countries. These include sculputures, toys, jewl cases, kitchen wares, candle holder and wooden vases, stationery, sport outfits and etc. The most impressive wood is Myrtlewood, a broadleaf evergreen which grows along the coastline of southern Oregon and northern Califonia. Myrtlewood possesses a wide variety of grove patterns. This unique wood varies in color from a deep, rich brown to silver grey, red and every yellow. Myrtlewood is being recognized as being one of the most beautiful hardwoods in the world.

Gidra speaking people living in Wonnie area of western province in Papua New Guinea are traditionally dependent on hunting and gathering. Sago is the main staple food and the vegetation consists of rain forest (Bua) and trees with savannah grass (Yap). The population density is very low and the people are very little affected by modernization. This study is an attempt to look at the people-resource interaction in the area for the past thirty years based on aerial photographs and various satellite data. The study showed the trends of yap versus bua distribution as well as the location of garden and Sago grove areas, which is important for studying the livelihood of the people.

문서의 논리적 구조정보를 표현하는 SGML 문서는 CALS, 디지털 도서관(Digital Library), 인터넷 분야에서 많이 사용되고 있다. 이렇게 SGML 문서들이 널리 사용됨에 따라 문서들의 효율적인 관리가 필요하게 되었고, 사용자가 원하는 문서를 정확하고 신속하게 검색해 줄 수 있는 검색 시스템의 개발이 필요하게 되었다. 좀 더 정확한 문서를 검색해 내기 위해서는 SGML 문서의 특징인 구조정보를 이용한 검색이 필수적이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 효율적인 SGML 문서의 검색을 위한 구조적 기반의 질의어로 eXQL을 정의하고, 이를 지원하는 검색시스템을 개발하였다. 특히 질의어에 경로 연산자를 지원하여 원하는 정보를 정확하게 찾을 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 본 시스템은 구조적인 검색을 효율적으로 지원하기 위하여 구조정보를 DSSL의 Grove에 기반한 구조로 저장한다.

Those who are damned in Light in August (1932) include Lena Grove, Joe Christmas as well as Gail Hightower. Through these characters, William Faulkner criticizes the confrontation between the North and the South after Civil War, religious fundamentalism, and racial discrimination which were great social issues in the twentieth century American society. The main characters are commonly isolated from the community through their grandfather's influence instead of father, which lets Americans understand that their faults originated from the beginning of America. Although they tend to approach to the community from their isolation, the damned are refused from the community. However, Faulkner would not lose his hope even on the ground of Christmas's death. By evoking from Hightower and Bunch their responses for good, Lena can draw Hightower into the community, and create her home with Bunch as a final victor. Even in the community being rampant with racial hatred, which most of Americans can not but face with, Faulkner can provide us with a ray of hope through these three characters.

포항 칠인정원림의 건립취지, 조형의도 그리고 변천과정 등을 살펴봄으로써 조선조 누정 조영의 시대적 감각과 조영의장을 조명하고, 원림내 회화나무와 느티나무 식재의 문화변용 현상을 살펴 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 2주의 괴목(槐木) 식재로 인해 쌍괴정(雙槐亭)이라는 또 다른 이름을 얻은 칠인정(七印亭)은 고려말 관료 출신의 장표(張彪)가 태종9년(1409) 초곡리 사일마을에 건립한 은거형 정자이며, 칠인정원림은 쌍계구곡(雙溪九曲)의 제3곡인 초곡(草谷)의 핵심이기도 하다. 칠인정원림은 사일마을 비보숲 초입의 진입부(進入部)와 칠인정 및 느티나무와 회화나무로 이루어진 정자부(亭子部) 그리고 방지방도(方池方島)의 지당과 배롱나무로 이루어진 지당부(池塘部)로 구분된다. 칠인정 기문 내용이나 아들과 사위 7인의 인수(印綬)를 쌍괴수(雙槐樹)에 내건 것에서 기인된 당호(堂號)로 볼 때, 초건 시 식재한 괴목과 그 이후 보식(補植)한 수종 또한 삼공(三公)의 지위와 학자수(學者樹)를 상징하는 회화나무(홰)로 보는 것이 합당하다. 뿐만 아니라 영조21년(1745) 보식한 수종이 현재 칠인정에 존치하는 느티나무(괴)라고 알려져 있음에도 불구하고 칠인정 담장 밖의 회화나무가 당시 식재한 그 수목임을 배제할 수 없다. 요컨대 느티나무와 함께 칠인정원림에 심겨진 3주의 회화나무는 인동장씨 후손들이 회화나무(홰)와 느티나무(괴)의 차이점을 인식하였음을 알리는 최소한의 징표가 아닐 수 없다. 회화나무가 국내에 들어오면서 한편으로 회화나무로, 다른 한편으로 느티나무로 인식되었고 점차 구입용이성, 성장속도, 장수목으로의 성장가능성에서 회화나무와 비교우위에 있는 느티나무를 회화나무 대용(代用)으로 혼용한 자발적 문화변용 현상을 칠인정원림의 괴목 식재사례를 통해 목도(目睹)하게 된다.

ECR 산소 플라즈마를 사용한 건식산화법에 의해 두 가지 실리콘 배향에 대하여 실리콘 산화막을 제조한 후 Deal-Grove(D-G)모델과 Wolters-Zegers-van Duynhoven (W-Z)모델에 적용하여 시간에 따르는 막 두께의 변화를 살펴보았으며 산화속도와 산화막의 표면 morphology의 상관관계를 조사하였다. 실리콘 산화막의 두께는 Si(100)과 Si(111) 모두 반응 시간이 짧은 영역에서 선형적으로 증가하였으나 반응시간이 경과함에 따라 화학반응 속도 보다 산화막을 통과하는 반응성 라디칼들의 확산이 율속단계로 작용하여 산화속도의 증가폭이 다소 둔화되었다. D-G모델과 W-Z모델에서 확산 및 반응속도는 Si(100)보다 Si(111)이 더 큰 값을 갖기 때문에 반응속도는 1.13배 더 크게 나타났으며 이들 모델은 실험 값과 잘 일치하였다. 표면 morphology는 산화 속도가 증가해도 식각현상이 일어나지 않는 실험 조건에서 산화막의 표면 조도가 일정하였으며, 기판의 위치가 하단 전자석에 근접하고 마이크로파 출력이 증가하여 식각현상이 일어나는 실험 조건에서 표면 조도는 산화속도와 관계없이 크게 나타났다.

본 논문은 세지마 카즈요(Kazuyo Sejima)와 니시자와 류에(Ryue Nishizawa)의 1900년대에서 2000년대 초반까지의 주택작품들을 연구대상으로 한다. 공간구문론(Space Syntax Theory)의 Convex Map을 통한 각 주택의 공간별 통합도(Integration)를 분석하여 개인공간 측면과 공용공간 측면에서 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 제1기(1990년대) 주택에서 제2기(2000년대 전반) 주택으로 갈수록 개인공간과 공용공간의 통합도(Integration) 평균값의 차이가 작아지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 제1기 주택에서 제2기 주택으로 갈수록 대체적으로 개인공간의 통합도 평균값은 높아지고, 공용공간의 통합도 평균값은 낮아져 간극이 좁아지는 경향을 보이고 있으며, 이는 개인공간과 공용공간의 통합도가 서로 비슷해지며 공간 구분의 경계가 모호해지고 있음을 의미한다. 둘째, 개인공간측면에서 살펴보면, 제2기(2000년대 전반) 작품인 S-3(House in a Plum Grove), S-4(House in China)에서의 개인공간들의 통합도 평균값이 10개 작품들중 가장 높은 수치를 보이고 있다. 개인공간은 제1기 보다는 제2기 작품들에서 더 폐쇄도가 떨어지는 경향이 있음을 알 수 있다. 세째, 공용공간측면에서 살펴보면, 제1기(1990년대) 작품인 I-2(Villa in the Forest), I-5(S-House), I-6(Weekend House)에서의 공용공간들의 통합도 평균값이 10개 작품들중 가장 높은 수치를 보이고 있다. 공용공간은 제2기 보다는 제1기 작품들에서 더 중심적이며 개방적인 경향을 보이고 있음을 알 수 있다.

식물 virus병 매개체로서 그 중요성이 대두되고 있는 Xiphinema 속선충(Dorylaimida: Longidoridae)을 분류한 결과 우리나라에서는 X. radicicola, X. bakeri, X. pini와 X. americanum의 4종이 밟혀졌으며, 이중에서 X. radicicola, X. bakeri 및 X. pini의 3종은 우리나라 말기fhr종들이 있다. X. radicicola는 수원, 평택의진위, 경북의 대구 및 의성등지의 사과과수원과 제주도 한라산의 느릅나무와 보리수나무에서 채집되었으며 X. bakeri는 수원잠업시험장의 뽕나무밭에서 그리고 X.pini는 계룡산의 동학사부근에 있는 때총나무와 단풍나무의 뿌리부근토양에서 발견되었다. 4종의 Xiphinema속선충중에서 X. americanum은 유일한 우리나라 기록종으로서 편의상 여기서는 X. americanum과 X. mediterraneum에 유사한 개체군을 모두 포함시켰다.
