The purpose of this study was to measure the counseling effects for diabetes mellitus patients. To measure the effects of the nutrition counseling, 40(13 men and 27 women) outpatients with diabetes mellitus were selected and they were randomly assigned to either the counseling group or non counseling group. Twenty-one counseling group patients received nutrition counseling weekly for 6 weeks and 19 patients served as non counseling group(control group) did not received counseling over same study period. The results of this study can be summerized as follows : 1) The food attitude score of the counseling group significantly increased from 61.9$\pm$15.9 prior to counseling to 87.0$\pm$7.8 after counseling (p<0.001). 2) Fasting blood glucose level and postgrandial blood glucose level also showed significant difference between two groups(p<0.01). In the counseling group, the fasting blood glucose level significantly decreased from 163.5$\pm$48.6mg/dl to 142.3$\pm$40.6mg/dl(p<0.01), and the postgrandial blood glucose level significantly decreased from 281.3$\pm$105.1mg/dl(p<0.001). 3) There was a significant difference of glycosylated hemoglobin between the two groups(p<0.005), and the glycosylated hemoglobin level of counseling group significantly decreased from 11.2$\pm$2.9% to 9.7$\pm$3.6%(p<0.005). 4) There was a significant correlation between the food attitude score difference and the glycosylated hemoglobin level difference in counseling group(p<0.05).
Background: In India, tobacco consumption is responsible for one of the highest rates of oral cancer in the world, the annual oral cancer incidence is steadily increasing among young tobacco users. Studies have documented efforts taken by physicians, doctors and even dentists, in the form of individual or group counseling to curb tobacco use in smoke or smokeless form. However, which one is more effective, still remains an unanswered question. The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness of individual and group counseling for cessation of the tobacco habit amongst industrial workers in Pune and to compare quit rates. Materials and methods: An interventional study design was selected for 150 industrial workers which were stratified randomly into three groups (control, individual and group counseling groups) and interventions were provided to individual and group counseling groups over a period of six months, which were then compared with the control group that received brief intervention at the start of the study. Results: There was significant difference in the quit rates of the participants in the individual counseling group (ICG) and group counseling group (GCG) when compared at 6 months with the control counseling group (CCG). In the individual counseling group was 6% while in group counseling group it was 7.5% after six months of counseling. Conclusions: No conclusion could be drawn whether individual or group counseling were better interms of quit rates. Individual and group counseling groups were definitely better than the control group when compared at 3 and 6 months, respectively.
This study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of nutrition counseling on the dietary intake and nutritional status cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment. The study was conducted over 6 week period and included 104 patients : 66 received nutrition counseling as the variable group of 42 male and 24 female and 38 patients received no counseling as the control group of 19 male and 19 female. Nutrition counseling was accompanied with the radiation therapy and adminstered via counseling session and distribution of printed material during radiation therapy for 6 weeks. Nutrition counseling aimed at maintaining a balanced diet and preventing weight loss of subjects, guideline used for energy and protein intake were 35kcal/kg IBW and 1.5-2.0g/kg IBW, respectively. Over the course of the study, the counseling group increased significantly in comparison to the control group's energy intake, evidenced by the counseling group's initial mean daily energy intake of 1932.0kcal, and 4 and 6 week mean energy intake values of 2046.6kcal, 2066kcal, respectively. But mean energy values of control group was 1614.3kcal at 4 week. Th energy intake per weight values and protein intake per weight values for initial, 4 and 6 week intervals for counseling group were 33.2kcal/kg, 33.7kcal/kg, 34.0kcal/kg, and 1.48g/kg, 1.58g/kg, 1.59g/kg, respectively. Based on results, nutrition counseling had positive effects on both the variety of diet and energy intake of the variable group, mostly due to an increase in dairy product and egg consumption. In addition, the percentage of counseling group patients who consumed all 5 food group increased from 48.5% to 54.5%. Sufficient energy intake and protein consumption seem to be important factors in weight loss prevention, evidenced by weight gain by subjects in the counseling group who had 36.1kcal/kg/day mean energy intake and 1.77g/kg/day mean protein intake after 4 weeks. Counseling group subjects experiencing weight loss had lower intake and 1.77g/kg/day mean protein intake after 3 weeks. Counseling group subjects experiencing weight loss had lower intakes of 29.3kcal/kg/day for energy and 1.33g/kg/day for protein during the same period. Another significant factor in weight loss prevention of the counseling group could be the variety of diet. The dietary variety scores(DVS) of both counseling and control groups differed significantly : the counseling group had a mean score of 34 while the control group of patients. At the end of the study, the mean percentage of subjects within each group having a DDS 5 was higher in the counseling group (54.5% v.s. 24.0%). In this study, nutrition counseling for cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy proved to be effective in preventing weight loss, a major complication during radiotherapy. Nutrition counseling not only increased protein and energy intake, but also had desirable effects on variety or diversity of diet.
Purpose: In this study, the researchers analyzed Adolescence's physical symptoms, self esteem and self identity to identify the effects and development of Maumgongbu group counseling on adolescents. Methods: There were two groups involved in this study: the group counseling team and the individual counseling group. Group counseling program was performed with 14 sessions, involving the students who applied for the program. Individual counseling was performed with 14 sessions through one-on-one session by students and their counselors. The data were collected three times: during the pre-treatment, post- treatment and 8 weeks after post-treatment using questionnaires. SPSS/WIN. 11.5 program was used for data analysis. Results: After the intervention, Group counseling prevented physical symptoms from getting worse. Self esteem improved during the pre-post treatments, and Self identity improved during the pre-8weeks after post-treatment in group counseling. Physical symptoms, Self esteem and Self identity aggravated during individual counseling groups. Conclusion: In this study, it was confirmed that the group counseling program was useful for the respondent's individual development through the improvement of their Physical symptoms and establishment of their Self identities through Maumgongbu group counseling.

This study aims to identify the effects and traits of narrative online group counseling for college students by comparing them with face-to-face group counseling. For this purpose, 18 college students were assigned as experimental group (videoconferencing method, using "Zoom"), comparison group (face-to-face method), and control group (no treatment). 8 sessions of narrative group counseling program was conducted for two groups. The difference between pre- and post test scores of 'self-identity' and 'relationship' showed significant improvement in 'self-identity' in both experimental and comparison groups, while positive change in 'relationship' was only significant in the experimental group. The traits of online group counseling experience were identified by comparing the post-interview data asking about their counseling experiences. In conclusion, we found that despite the various limitations, the context of online group counseling showed similar effects to face-to-face group counseling, and suggested a direction for the development of online group counseling.
This research was a comparative study of children's mothers in counseling and mothers in non-counseling (comparison) groups to examine differences between groups in emotional expressiveness, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness, type of communication and parenting behavior, Subjects were 91 mothers having counseling and 133 mothers in the non-counseling group. Data were analyzed by independent samples t-test. Results showed that mothers in the non-counseling group reported more positive emotional expressiveness than the counseling group. Mothers in the counseling group reported more ambivalence over emotional expressiveness, more negative communications and more negative parenting behavior than the comparison group.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of MMTIC group counseling program on self-esteem of elementary school students. The hypothesis was that the self-esteem test scores of experimental group would be significantly higher than those of control group. The subjects were the twenty 5th graders sampled from the 66 5th graders of D Elementary School in Boryeong City based on self-esteem test scores. The 10 subjects were randomly assigned experiment group and others were assigned control group. The self-esteem test by Mun, Yong Woo (2002) modified from the measurement of Kim, Heui Hwa (1989) was administrated as pre and post test. The experimental group has experienced MMTIC group counseling program. On the other hand, the control group has not been given any advice during the counseling periods. The counseling was once a week at two o'clock in the afternoon for ten weeks from the eleventh of May to sixteenth of July in 2003. Each counseling session lasted sixty to eighty minutes. The group counseling program, which has been used in this research, has been adapted to the level of elementary students with the consideration of MBTI and MMTIC Workshop in reference to a few theses related to MMTIC development program (Jung, Gyeong Yeon, 2001: Gang, Jae Jeong, 2002; Lee, Jae Mo 2002). The results were analysed by t-test. These statistics with a quantitative result has been supplemented with a qualitative analysis by a questionnaire and the descriptions of impression of subjects of experimental group. The results of this research was that the analyses of the questionnaire and a description of their impression have shown that the counseling has had an significantly impact on their understanding themselves and others. In particular, this program has been positively conducive to receptive relationships to others. In conclusion, the MMTIC group counseling program has helped elementary students I understand themselves and others, increase receptive competence, encourage their confidence, improve personal relationships and enhance their adaptation to their school life. It suggests that this program has a feasible effect on children's sense of self-esteem.

The Purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-growth group counseling on self-esteem and life satisfaction of university students. For this study the following hypotheses were established. First, does the self-growth group counseling enhance significantly the participants' self-esteem? Second, does the self-growth group counseling enhance significantly the participants's life satisfaction? Those who participated in this study were 22 University students which are in D University in Busan. Ten participants were assigned in the experimental group and twelve in the control group. The experimental group participated in the self-growth group counseling one session a week for 12 consecutive weeks held by counseling center for D University students. The instruments used in this study were Self-Esteem Scale and life satisfaction Scale. The data was analysed by ANCOVA. The average, standard deviation, and estimated marginal means were calculated and the differences between the pre and post-tests calculated, processed by SPSS 12.0. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: First, the self-growth group counseling is effective to enhance significantly the level of self-esteem of University students. Second, the self-growth group counseling is also effective to enhance the level of life satisfaction of University students. Based on the results, the self-growth group counseling was suggested as a means to help University students enhance their self-esteem and life satisfaction.
This study aimed to examine the effect of Cyber Group Counseling on the depression of internet addiction children in elementary school. In this study, the following questions were posed: How effective is the Cyber Group Counseling on the depression of internet addiction children? In this study, subjects were 24 students who got 14 points over in KAIS and got 11 points over in CDI among 245 of 5th, 6th grade students in Daegu and Chongdo Kyungbuk who did Internet addiction scale for Korean Adolescent(KAIS) and Children's Depression Inventory(CDI). They were divided into experimental group and comparative group. Subjects in experimental group practiced Cyber Group Counseling for 12 sessions(60 minutes per session) for 6 weeks. But the control group had no treatment during the period. During the experiment, 2 of each groups were left out. The counseling schedule and hor· to join the Cyber Group Counseling clinic were notified by e-mail. The Cyber Group Counseling was on every Monday and Thursday. The Cyber Group Counseling progressed by internet chatting, bulletin board, e-mail and a slip paper counsel. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS/PC+ (statistical package for the social science/personal computer) program and t -test. The findings of this study were as follows: First, the depression of internet addiction children who joined in Cyber Group Counseling was significantly reduced than the others. So, Cyber Group Counseling was proved one of the useful psychotherapy approach. Second, the subordinate of depression including behavioral disturbance and anhedonia was significantly reduced. Third, the subordinate of depression including the dysphoric mood, the self-deprecation and physiological symptoms was reduced. But it was not statistically significant.

Backgrounds: Patient counseling has been forced since June. 19, 2014. Prior to this, there was no study to try to standardize medication counseling to improve quality. Purpose: This study was to investigate satisfaction level and comprehension level between the pharmacist group and the patient group about standardized medication counseling sheet. Methods: Questionnaires to assess standardized patient counseling sheet were posted at online survey software (Qualtrics) to pharmacists who worked at community pharmacy and patients who had visited community pharmacy before. Results: Three hundred thirty five patients and three hundred nineteen pharmacists were responded to the questionnaire (Response rate: 72.9%). More than half of each group were satisfied with standardized medication counseling sheets 'for the general public', 'for the pregnant women and nursing mothers', 'for the chronic patient', and 'for the aged' and patient group were more satisfied than pharmacist group. Similarly, more than half of each group comprehended with the medication counseling sheets 'for the general public', 'for the pregnant women and nursing mothers', 'for the chronic patient', and 'for the aged'. Patient group tended to expect longer patient counseling time per one drug than pharmacist group. Also, the majority of both groups wanted to provide standardized medication counseling sheets constantly and extend for all drugs. Conclusion: Both groups were satisfied and comprehended standardized medication counseling sheets, and agreed to expand standardized medication counseling sheets to all drugs. So, it is necessary to build the standardized medication counseling of all drugs.
