The mutual coupling between the current and potential measuring wires makes serious effect on the measurement of the ground impedance. For analyzing the effect of mutual coupling, we compared the ground impedance measured on site with the ground impedance calculated with MATLAB. When the parallel length is 10 [m], the measured ground impedance is similar with the calculated ground impedance. As the parallel length is extended over 10 [m], the error between measured ground impedance and calculated ground impedance is also increased on a large scale. We analyzed the mutual coupling by the frequency and present the inaccuracy of ground impedance quantitatively.
This paper proposed a m.Sketch to search the optimal link lengths for a legged walking robot. In order to apply the m.Sketch for the proposed, set the design parameters of the constraints and use the m.Skecth to get optimal GL(Groud Length) and GAC(Ground Angle Coefficient). The legged robot designed based on four-bar linkage theory and Theo Jansen mechanism. The stride length of the legged walking robot was defined based on the proposed kinematic analysis. Use the Edison Design m.Sketch simulate and find the optimal link length having the best of the Ground Length (GL) and Ground Angle Coefficient(GAC). And use these length implemented the Theo Jansen mechanism both in Science box parts and acrylic. In addition to the further expansion of the legs to reach the goaltranslating heavy objects or person.

This paper presents the transient impedance behaviors according to the length of down conductors of grounding systems to lightning impulse currents. The potential rise and effective impulse ground impedance of the deeply-driven ground rod and grounding grid subjected to the impulse currents were measured and analyzed as a function of the rise time of impulse currents and lengths of down conductor. The transient ground impedances strongly depend on the configuration and size of grounding electrodes, the waveform of impulse currents and the length of down conductors, and the installation methods reducing the inductance of down conductors are an important factor to decrease the transient ground impedances.

A ground air heat exchanger (GAHX), also called earth air heat exchanger is a useful technology to be integrated with other renewable energy technologies. In this study, ground-air heat exchanger system for the air source heat pump is introduced. The purpose of this study is to design the volumetric flow rate and the length of GAHX system. A GAHX length model equation has been developed and used for calculation. GAHX thermal efficiency are recommended as 75% and 85% in order to optimize pipe length. $2,750m^3/h$, $2,420m^3/h$ of volumetric flow rate on 88.3m, 111.7m length are suggested for providing 7.5kW thermal capacity. And the number of path is recommended more than two to minimize pressure drop. For future study, advanced model equation study with ground thermal behavior and a more efficient GAHX design will be considered.

Ground impedance for the large grounding system is measured according to the IEEE Standard 81.2 which is based on the revised fall-of-potential method of installing auxiliary electrode at a right angle. When the auxiliary electrodes are located at an angle of $90^{\circ}$, the ground impedance inevitably includes the error due to earth mutual resistance. In this paper, in order to accurately measure the ground impedance of vertically-driven ground electrodes, error rates due to earth mutual resistance are evaluated by ground resistance and ground impedance measuring devices and compared with calculated values. As a result, the measured results are in good agreement with the computed results considering soil layer with different resistivity. The error rates due to earth mutual resistance decrease with increasing the length of ground electrode in the case that the ratio of the distance between the ground rod to be measured and the auxiliary electrodes to the length of ground electrode(D/L) is same. The ground impedance should be measured at the minimum distance between the auxiliary electrodes that will have an estimated measurement accuracy due to earth mutual resistance.

The transient ground impedance depending on configuration, size, and material of grounding electrodes as well as the shapes of impulse currents, has a significant affect on the performance of the grounding system. This paper presents experimental results in regard to the analysis method of transient ground impedance using the lightning impulse and variable frequency currents. Also a new estimation method to replace the effective surge impedance for transient ground impedance was proposed. The ground electrodes used in this experiment are virtual ground electrodes including both resistance and inductance components, carbon ground electrode with 1[m] length, copper electrode with 9[m] length and counterpoise with 40[m] length. Ground impedances using the proposed method were measured respectively. Comparing with the ground impedance using variable frequency current the conventional ground impedance($Z_1$) calculated from the peak values of impulse voltage and impulse current is observed more correct method for evaluating the performance of ground electrode than the effective surge impedance.
This study presents a reasonable and economical DCM reinforcement length for the various factors (the embankment height, the distance from the embankment to the underground structure, the depth of the soft ground, and the compression index and the swelling index of the soft ground) that affect the stability of the structure due to lateral movement. Based on these results, we analyzed each factor's degree of influence and figured out which factor influenced the lateral movement most. The cross section of the embankment on the soft ground was modeled by using the Finite Element Program and reinforced with DCM. The results show that the increase rate of the reinforcement length with the increase of the embankment height is about 9~50%, the increase rate of the reinforcement length with the depth of soft ground is about 13~30%, and the increase rate of the reinforcement length with increasing compression index is about 3~25%. In addition, the influence of each factor on each other was analyzed. As a result, among the separation distance, the compressive index and the maximum to minimum slope ratio of the reinforcement length of the embankment height, the separation distance was the largest for the depth of soft ground. As the depth of the soft ground increases, the ratio of the maximum to minimum slope of the reinforcement length according to the embankment height is 3.75, the ratio of the maximum to minimum slope of the reinforcement length according to the spacing distance is 4.3, and the ratio of maximum to minimum slope according to compression index is 2.5. From these results, it is confirmed that the three factors are greatly affected by the depth of soft ground.

In a ground-source heat pump (GSHP) system, a vertical ground heat exchanger (GHE) is widely accepted due to a higher thermal performance. In the vertical GHE, grout (also called grouting material) plays an important role in the heat transfer performance and the initial installation cost of the GHE. Bentonite-based grout has been used in practice because of its high swelling potential and low hydraulic conductivity. This study evaluated the thermo-physical properties of the bentonite-based grouts through lab-scale measurements. In addition, we conducted performance simulation to analyze the effect of mixed ratio of grouts on the design length and thermal performance of the vertical GHE. The simulation results show that thermally-enhanced grouts improve the heat transfer performance of the vertical GHE and thus reduce the design length of GHE pipe.

For the surge currents like lightning or ground fault currents containing high frequency components which cause the electromagnetic interferences for the electronic devices and communication equipment, the grounding impedances give the significantly composite characteristics which are dependent on the frequency of surge currents. In this paper, the analytical model and method for determining the optimal length of the newly developed coaxial type carbon ground electrode which has a little fluctuation in grounding impedance with frequency. The length of minimizing the fluctuation of grounding impedance by changing frequency from 100[Hz] to 1[MHz] was determined, and the validity of this proposed method was confirmed by comparing with the simulated and measured data.
A ground-loop heat exchanger for the ground source heat pump system is the core equipment determining the thermal performance and initial cost of the system. The size and performance of the heat exchanger is highly dependent on the ground thermal properties - the ground effective thermal conductivity, the borehole thermal resistance and the undisturbed ground temperature. Nowadays, precast concrete piles using steel reinforced precast concrete piles - energy piles - are used to reduce the installing cost of the ground-loop heat exchanger. We were carried out some tests to investigate the effects of some parameters such as borehole length, grouting materials and U-tube configuration of the energy piles. 4 concrete piles, each measuring $250mm{\sim}400mm$ in diameter and approx. 10m in length, and rigged with single spiral and 3 U-tube loop of $16mm{\times}2.3mm$ PB piping. The thermal response tests were conducted using a testing device for 4-different ground-loop heat exchangers. During the heating period, the energy piles absorb the heat of 0.89kW to 1.37kW.
