  • ELID(ELectrolytic In-process Dressing) grinding is an excellent technique for mirror grinding of various advanced metallic or nonmetallic materials. A polishing process is also required for elimination of scratches present on ELID grinded surfaces. MAP(Magnetic Assisted Polishing) has been used as a polishing method due to its high polishing efficiency and to its resulting in a superior surface quality. This study describes an effective fabrication method combining ELID and MAP of nano-precision mirror grinding for glass-lens molding mould, such as WC-Co, which are extensively used in precision tooling material. And for the optics glass-ceramic named Zerodure, which is extensively used in precision optics components too. The experimental results show that the combined method is very effective in reducing the time required for final polishing. The best surface roughness of the polished glass-ceramic was within 1.7nm Ra in this study.

  • Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of processing of barley on the growth performance and ileal and fecal digestibility of growing pigs. In Exp. 1, a total of 20 cannulated pigs (10.80 kg BW) were allotted to four treatments. Treatments were coarse ground barley as a control (CON), finely ground barley (FINE), extruded barley (EXT) and enzyme supplemented coarse ground barley (ENZ). In Exp. 2, a total of 100 growing pigs (36.50 kg BW) were allocated to the same treatments in completely randomized block design based on sex and body weight. In the first trial, pigs fed extruded barley showed significantly higher crude protein digestibility over pigs fed finely ground barley (p < 0.05). Pigs fed finely ground barley generally showed lower nutrients digestibility. Extrusion and ${\beta}$-glucanase supplementation showed a trend to improve nutrients digestibility. However, fine grinding rather reduced nutrients digestibility. The similar trend was found in the digestibility of essential amino acids. Fine grinding of barley significantly reduced amino acids digestibility. Extrusion and enzyme supplementation were found to improve amino acids digestibility of barley in growing pigs. In the growth trial, pigs fed extruded barley grew significantly faster than any other processed barley fed pigs. And extrusion of barley significantly improved feed/gain of pigs (p < 0.05). Fine grinding of barley and enzyme supplementation did not improve growth performance of pigs. In conclusion, fine grinding and enzyme supplementation does not appear to be an economical feed processing for growing pigs when barley is employed in the diets, while extrusion can be recommended as an effective feed processing technique for barley.

  • The usage of ultra-precision machining is increasing by the manufacturing of precision optical elements such as camera lens, laser printer, CD player, DVD and microscope parts etc.. The WC alloy material is in wide use by mold core to improve the productivity and accuracy in manufacturing those precision parts. The WC alloy mould core can be machined effectively by the parallel grinding process which is an excellent technique for manufacturing of surface profile hard to machining materials such as the hardened metal alloy, Ceramics, Glass and so on. Magnetic assisted polishing as a final polishing process has also been utilized to obtain ultra-precision mirror surface with the elimination of traces presented on ground surface. It is able to deduce the optimal ultra-precision machining conditions of the WC alloy material from the experiment and analyses results.

  • The effects of mechanical grinding(MG) treatment on the hydrogen storage of $Mg_2Ni$ alloy and $Mg_2Ni$ composite alloy($Mg_2Ni+graphite$) were investigated by pressure-composition-temperature(PCT) measurement, the micro-electrode technique of electrochemistry and etc, in which PCT was measured at high temperature(around $300[^{\circ}C]$) of gas phase and a carbon-filament micro-electrode for electrochemical evaluation was manipulated to make electrical contact with the particle in 1M KOH aqueous solution. It was found that the hydrogenation properties of $Mg_2Ni$ and graphite composite particle were greatly improved by the mechanical grinding treatment by which the $Mg_2Ni$ and graphite composite alloys could be changed into microstructure and nano-level particles. namely; the hydrogen dissociation pressure of PCT measurement was decreased from 0.55[MPa] to 0.42[MPa] and hydrogenation peaks by micro-electrode were also observed more clearly on the same sample.

  • The effect of sintering aids on the sinterability for silcion nitride has been studied by hundreds workers. However the effect of sintering aids on the machinability as the own trobles which is the major barrier for the field applications of the ceramic components has not been fully studied. in this study the contents of Al2O3 and Y2O3 in silicon nitride were varied from 0 to 8 wt% respectively. The physical and mechanical properties of the silcion nitride were measured. The optimal microstructure of silicon nitride balls with the excellent machinability by adding with various contents of sintering aids was studied by MGF(magnetic-fluid grinding)technique. An attempt to figure out how the mechanical properties influence the machinability of silicon-nitride ball was made.

  • With increasing the needs for micro and precision parts, micro machining technology using micro tools has been studied to fabricate a small part with high density such as electronics, optics, communications, and medicine industry more than before. Though these micro tools have developed rapidly, it is difficult to apply them to micro fabrication technologies, because of the inherent manufacturing. In this study, micro tools (WC) to produce micro structures and parts were manufactured by cylindrical grinding machine employing ELID (Electrolytic In-process Dressing) technique and the micro tools are fabricated as square shape with the dimension less than 100${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. With the micro tools on the same machine, characteristics of micro grooving and drilling are evaluated. Also we compare normal micro machining with ultrasonic micro machining on the vibration table. It is confirmed that the developed micro tools are fully applicable to micro grooving, micro drilling and free form cutting.

  • This paper describes a processing verification technique for developing about end-milling cutters. Developed software is processing verification module for manufacturing. By using cutting simulation method, we can obtain center points of finding wheel via Boolean operation between a grinding wheel and a cylindrical workpiece. The obtained CL data can be used for calculating NC data. After then, we can simulate by using designed grinding machine and NC data. This research has been implemented on a commercial CAD system by using the API function programming. The operator can evaluate the cutting simulation process and reduce the time of design and manufacturing.

  • High Energy Milling (HEM) is applied for the grinding of cement and this can lead to substantial refinement $(<2{\mu}m)$ and mechanically activation of the powder particles. The present paper reviews the preliminary studies, explains the novel technique and suggests the route into commercial application. Particular attention is paid to wear results with an applied $Si_3N_4-grinding$ unit where no substantial wear was found after 4000 h of operation.
