For high performance Grid environments, an efficient GIS(Grid Information Service is required In the Metacomputing Directory Service(MDS) of the Glogus middleware, the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol(LDAP), which is a distributed directory service protocol, is used. The LDAP GIS differs from general purpose LDAP directories in that most of the LDAP operations are write in Grid environments. To get an efficient design of the GIS, it is thus required to analyze the performance of the LDAP system in the context of Grid environments. This paper presents the result of a performance analysis of LDAP systems. The main objective of the evaluation is to see the performance scalability of the LDAP system in the Grid environment where the write operations prevails. Based on these results, we suggest directions of an efficient LDAP-based GIS for a high performance Grid.
This paper puts forward a method based on the boundary deformation for planar grid generation. Many methods start with the special properties of grid and switch to the solution of a direct optimization or a non-linear minimum cost flow. Though with high theoretical significance, it's hard to realize due to the extremely complicated computing process. This paper brings out the automatic generation of planar grid by studying the boundary deformational properties of planar grid, which leads to uniform grid and enjoys the simplicity of computation and realization.
The purpose of this study is to develop a grid based model for calculating the critical nonpoint source (NPS) pollution load (BOD, TN, TP) in Nak-dong area in South Korea. In the last two decades, NPS pollution has become a topic for research that resulted in the development of numerous modeling techniques. Watershed researchers need to be able to emphasis on the characterization of water quality, including NPS pollution loads estimates. Geographic Information System (GIS) has been designed for the assessment of NPS pollution in a watershed. It uses different data such as DEM, precipitation, stream network, discharge, and land use data sets and utilizes a grid representation of a watershed for the approximation of average annual pollution loads and concentrations. The difficulty in traditional NPS modeling is the problem of identifying sources and quantifying the loads. This research is intended to investigate the correlation of NPS pollution concentrations with land uses in a watershed by calculating Expected Mean Concentrations (EMC). This work was accomplished using a grid based modelling technique that encompasses three stages. The first step includes estimating runoff grid by means of the precipitation grid and runoff coefficient. The second step is deriving the gird based model for calculating NPS pollution loads. The last step is validating the gird based model with traditional pollution loads calculation by applying statistical t-test method. The results on real data, illustrate the merits of the grid based modelling approach. Therefore, this model investigates a method of estimating and simulating point loads along with the spatially distributed NPS pollution loads. The pollutant concentration from local runoff is supposed to be directly related to land use in the region and is not considered to vary from event to event or within areas of similar land uses. By consideration of this point, it is anticipated that a single mean estimated pollutant concentration is assigned to all land uses rather than taking into account unique concentrations for different soil types, crops, and so on.

Recently, grid computing environment has being changed to the service-oriented grid integrated with Web Services. In this architecture, there is the service-oriented grid application in which Grid Services are executed according to the workflow of the grid application. This implies that the grid scheduling method needs to consider grid service characteristics. Therefore, we propose the grid service performance model based on factors such as service availability, accessibility, reliability, throughput, and slowdown, and develop service scheduling method to increase performance of the service-oriented grid application.

Computational grids are emerging as a new infrastructure for internet-based parallel and distributed computing. Grid systems are enables the sharing, exchanging, discovery and aggregation of resources which distributed multiple administrative domains, organizations and enterprises. Accounting information service is one of the main obstacles to widespread adoption of the grid. But, most of grid portals do not support accounting information service. In this paper, we design an accounting information service and build a web-based grid portal including account management service and accounting information service.

This paper presents an efficient method of extracting line segments from the occupancy grids in a grid map. The grid map is composed of 2-D grids that have both the occupancy and orientation probabilities using sonar sensors. We evaluate the orientation information of every grid when the occupancy probability of the grid is updated from sonar range data. To find the shape of an object in the map from orientation information, the orientations are clustered into several groups according to their values. The line segments are, then, extracted from the clusters based on Hough transform. Finally, a feature-based map is built with these line segments. The proposed method is illustrated with the results produced by sets of experiments in an indoor environment.
Voltage sourced converter (VSC) based direct-current (DC) grid has the ability to control power flow flexibly and securely, thus it has become one of the most valid approaches in aspect of large-scale renewable power generation, oceanic island power supply and new urban grid construction. To solve the optimal power flow (OPF) problem in DC grid, an adaptive particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm based on fuzzy control theory is proposed in this paper, and the optimal operation considering both power loss and voltage quality is realized. Firstly, the fuzzy membership curve is used to transform two objectives into one, the fitness value of latest step is introduced as input of fuzzy controller to adjust the controlling parameters of PSO dynamically. The proposed strategy was applied in solving the power flow issue in six terminals DC grid model, and corresponding results are presented to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of proposed algorithm.
This paper proposes a reactive current assignment and control strategy for a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind-turbine generation system under generic grid voltage sag or swell conditions. The system's active and reactive power constrains during grid faults are investigated with both the grid- and rotor-side convertors (GSC and RSC) maximum ampere limits considered. To meet the latest grid codes, especially the low- and high-voltage ride-through (LVRT and HVRT) requirements, an adaptive reactive current control scheme is investigated. In addition, a torque-oscillation suppression technique is designed to reduce the mechanism stress on turbine systems caused by intensive voltage variations. Simulation and experiment studies demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme to enhance the fault ride-through (FRT) capability of DFIG-based wind turbines during violent changes in grid voltage.

This paper presents an operational technique that can secure the stability of DC-Grid centering on MG operated based on ESS in multiple MG where three DC-based microgrid(MG) are interconnected. MG1(PV 600kWp, ESS 1.5MWh) has an 830Vdc grid voltage, MG2(PV 300kWp, ESS 1.1MWh) and MG3(PV 100kWp, ESS 500kWh) are DC-based MG with a 750Vdc grid voltage, and MG1 and MG2, 3 are linked by separate DC/DC converters (BTB). In order to keep different grid voltages stable, the power transmission capacity between MG1 and two MG(MG2, MG3) connected with an independent BTB converter was adjusted to secure the overall stability of the system, and this was verified by confirming that the surplus capacity of ESS was maintained in actual operation.

This paper proposes a local improvement method that combines extended topological clean up and optimization-based smoothing for homogenizing triangular grid system. First extended topological clean up procedures are applied to improve the connectivities of grid elements. Then, local optimization-based smoothing is performed for maximizing the distortion metric that measures grid quality. Using the local improvement strategy, we implement the grid homogenizations for two triangular grid examples. It is shown that the suggested algorithm improves the quality of the triangular grids to a great degree in an efficient manner and also can be easily applied to the remeshing algorithm in adaptive mesh refinement technique.
