This study introduces a new pulse width modulation (PWM) method to reduce common-mode voltages (CMVs) and then compares its performance with other reduced CMV-PWM (RCMV-PWM) methods. CMVs should be reduced to ensure the electromagnetic compatibility and safety of grid-connected inverters. RCMV-PWM methods attempt to synthesize voltage references without zero vectors, which cause high CMV peaks. In these methods, the peak-to-peak magnitude of CMVs can be reduced by one-third of the conventional space-vector PWM. The introduced method splits every reference vector into two vectors to avoid the use of zero vectors. The performances of the RCMV-PWM methods are analyzed in accordance with the modulation index through simulation and experiment.

The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is the key to operate a change from the traditional manual reading of water meters and sensors to an automated system where high frequency data is remotely collected and analyzed in real time, one of the main components of a Smart Water Grid. The recent boom of ICT offers a wide range of both wired and wireless technologies to achieve this objective. We review and present in this article the most widely recognized technologies and protocols along with their respective advantages, drawbacks and applicability range which can be Home Area Network (HAN), Building Area Network (BAN) or Local/Neighborhood Area Network (LAN/NAN). We also present our findings and we give recommendations on the application of ICT in Smart Water Grids and future work needed.

This paper is about power transfer between heterogeneous systems in zero-energy buildings. Currently, electricity used in buildings, from renewable energy generation power in buildings, consists of alternating current networks. In order to use electricity, alternating current must be converted to direct current, which typically results in a loss of 10%. In order to solve this problem, research is needed to reduce power loss as much as possible by implementing both a DC network and an AC network in a zero-energy building. Therefore, in this paper, an inter-link converter capable of bidirectional power transfer between DC and AC networks applied to zero-energy buildings is developed. The structure of the inter-link converter to be developed was proposed and its feasibility was verified through simulations and experiments.

This paper presents the developments of Grid computing architecture which is use many data and resources from distributed and parallel system for construction test equipments, i.e., large scale computer networks meant to provide access to massive computational facilities for very large communities of users, drawing upon experiences of existing Grids architecture. In this paper, we present an efficient way to construct a construction test equipment infrastructure.

Recently, frequent occurrence of flash floods caused by climactic change has necessitated prompt and quantitative prediction of precipitation. In particular, the usability of rainfall radar that can carry out real-time observation and prediction of precipitation behavior has increased. Moreover, the use of distributed hydrological model that enables grid level analysis has increased for an efficient use of rainfall radar that provides grid data at 1km resolution. The use of distributed hydrologic model necessitates grid-type spatial data about target basins; to enhance reliability of flood runoff simulation, the use of visible and precise data is necessary. In this paper, physically based $Vflo^{TM}$ model and ModClark, a quasi-distributed hydrological model, were used to carry out flood runoff simulation and comparison of simulation results with data from Imjin River Basin, two-third of which is ungauged. The spatial scope of this study was divided into the whole Imjin River basin area, which includes ungauged area, and Imjin River basin area in South Korea for which relatively accurate and visible data are available. Peak flow and lag time outputs from the two simulations of each region were compared to analyze the impact of uncertainty in topographical parameters and soil parameters on flood runoff simulation and to propose effective methods for flood runoff simulation in ungauged regions.
Today, because human settlements are concentrated into urban area, urban planning and management technique considering the complexity, diversity, and advanced situations of urban living space is being requested. Especially, to effectively respond to large and diverse climate change driven disaster, it is necessary to develop urban planning technique including land use, infrastructure planning based on disaster vulnerability analysis. However, because current urban climate change disaster vulnerability analysis system(UC-VAS) is using census output area as spatial analysis unit, it is difficult to utilize the analysis results for specific urban planning. Instead, this study applies the grid manner to two study areas. The analysis results show that it can generate more detailed results and it can be used for detailed zoning decision by comparing with areal photos. Furthermore, by describing the limitation of the grid manner and providing professional way to secure additional scientific character and objectivity of the future urban climate change disaster vulnerability analysis system, it is expected that this study contributes to the effectiveness of system management.

This paper describes the modeling of work environment for the extraction of abstract operation rules for cooperative work with multiple agent. We propose the modeling method using a potential field. In the method, it is applied to a box pushing problem, which is to move a box from a start to a goal b multiple agent. The agents follow the potential value when they move and work in the work environment. The work environment is represented as the grid space. The potential field is generated by Genetic Algorithm(GA) for each agent. GA explores the positions of a potential peak value in the grid space, and then the potential value stretching in the grid space is spread by a potential diffusion function in each grid. However it is difficult to explore suitable setting using hand coding of the position of peak potential value. Thus, we use an evlolutionary computation way because it is possible to explore the large search space. So we make experiments the environment modeling using the proposed method and verify the performance of the exploration by GA. And we classify some types from acquired the environment model and extract the abstract operation rule, As results, we find out some types of the environment models and operation rules by the observation, and the performance of GA exploration is almost same as the hand coding set because these are nearly same performance on the evaluation of the consumption of agent's energy and the work step from point to the goal point.

e-Science Service Integration Workbench is the core tool that enables IT-based computation and engineering researchers to collaborate their research activities via data sharing, by semi-automatically supporting the activities. Workbench provides the researchers with a scientific workflow by establishing the environment that is capable of finding, registering, composing, and executing services-legacy codes wrapped with grid services or web services-they need to use. In other words, designing their scientific workflow through the workbench, they can receive or share its final result with their collegues by submitting jobs they describe to computational resources such as supercomputers or grids or requesting an experiment. In this paper, we propose an implementation architecture of e-Science Service Integration Workbench to support grid services of Grid Middleware.
When we use R-Tree,a spatial index, to find objects matches some predicate, it often leads to an incorrect result of perform filtering step only with MBR. And , each candidates need to be inspected to conform if it really satisfies with given query, so called, 'refinement step'. In refinement step. we should perform disk I/O and expansive spatial operations which is the cause of increasing retrieval costs. Therefore, to minimize the number of candidate after filtering step, two-phase filtering methods were studied, but there was many problems such as inefficiency of filtering, maintenance of additional informations and reconstruction of data resulted from the loss of original information. So , in this paper, I propose an Extended R-Tree which provides ability to retrieve spatial objects only with some simple logical operations using Grid Table, truth table strong the information about the existence of spatial objects, in second filtering step. Consequently , this Extended R-Tree using Grid Filter has low cost of operation for filtering because of efficient second filtering step, and better filtering efficiency caused by high quality of approximation.

Times New RomanThe utilization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the smart grid application can construct efficient and reliable electrical grid. IEC 61850 was adopted as the standard for smart grid exchanging the information required in an electric power utility. However, applying technologies like IEC 61850 using Ethernet to the automation of small distribution substation directly may cost more than the value of the small distribution substation itself. IEEE 802.15.4 technology attracts attention in the field of power utility automation because of low installation cost and ease of installation. Studies are conducted, which use IEEE 802.15.4 in less strict D1 small distribution substation. This study applied IEEE 802.15.4 to the small distribution substation and conducted performance evaluation using the actual equipment. This study determined the scope of application of IEEE 802.15.4 by conducting a comparative analysis of the message type in IEC 61850.
