Assessment Items of Outdoor Environment through Analysis of SITES - Focused on the Comparison with G-SEED and LEED -

  • Although assessing outdoor environment and green space in terms of sustainability and environmental performance is perceived as an important issue, most existing green building certification systems are more focused on buildings and indoor environment. Recently, the Sustainable Site Initiatives (SITES) has been developed by American Society of Landscape Architecture in order to evaluate sustainability of site development and outdoor environment. Separate from LEED, the SITES are increasingly receiving attentions as a reliable certification system in the United States. As a preliminary study to develop the items of outdoor environmental assessment, the present study is purposed to analyze the assessment items, grading system and applicability of SITES for better understanding on the system. Also it was compared to existing green building certification criteria, including G-SEED, LEED-NC, and LEED-ND in order to investigate similarities and discrepancies. The results would provide insights and basic data to improve assessment items for outdoor environment of G-SEED.

학교시설 친환경인증 사례를 통한 에너지 평가항목에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Energy Level of Education Facilities in Green Building Certification Criteria)

  • With the increase in the demand for sustainable and environmentally-friendly development, Green Building Certification System came into force in 2002, Evaluation parts of Green Building Certification System are divided into land use and transportation, energy, ecological environment, and indoor environment. Alloted point for the part of energy is larger than other part, thus we can say that this part is very important to increase the green building performance. This study aims to analyze the present condition of design and construction for the part of energy in the certificated green school building. Total 40 certificated school buildings were selected and average scoring rate of each item was evaluated. Key particular to be considered were suggested to improve the item of energy consumption.

폐석류석을 흡착제로 이용한 말라카이트그린 흡착 특성 (Adsorption Characteristics of Malachite Green Employing Waste Garnet as Adsorbent)

  • The adsorption characteristics of malachite green on waste garnet have been investigated for its treatment from aqueous solution by employing waste garnet which is generated from the abrasive production process as an adsorbent. The influential factors examined were the initial concentration of malachite green in solution, reaction temperature, and the amount of adsorbent. Also, the effect of the modification of the surface of adsorbent on adsorption was examined. As the initial malachite green was increased with reaction temperature and the color removal of malachite green-containing solution was promoted with the amount of adsorbent. Finaly, increased adsorption of malachite green could be attained when the surface of glass was modified by hexamethyldisilazane.

녹색소비 실천교육이 유아의 녹색소비 인식 및 행동에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Green Consumption Practice Program for young children)

  • Green consumption refers to a variety of activities including use and purchase of eco-friendly products and services and disposing of products in an eco-friendly manner. The goal of this research was to evaluate the effects of a green consumption education and awareness program offered to young children in a university-sponsored daycare. The education and awareness program was designed to improve young children's knowledge and behaviors toward the environment through green consumption education. The program was presented to 22 5-year old children in 15-20 minutes sessions, once a week for 4 weeks. Evaluation of the program was carried out through individual interviews with the children and their mothers. Upon the completion of the green consumption education program, there were noticeable changes in children's knowledge and behavior toward the environment. Mothers of participating children reported that children's environmental behaviors changed significantly, displaying a stronger green consumption attitude. This study suggests that environmental educational program during early childhood educational is an effective way of improving children's perceptions of environmental and conservation practices.

그린 패션 마케팅 현황에 관한 연구 (A Study on the State of Affairs of Green Fashion Marketing)

  • Green Marketing, a response to the serious environment problems of the 21st century, is an important point for trends in both art and fashion. It is a strategy for reminding consumers of the threatening environment problems and to recognize that everyone must take responsibility for these problems. Green marketing is a concept that is the point at issue and social reform movement. The purpose of this study was to find examples of Green Marketing in fashion and classify them into four groups. The results of this study were as follows. First, the terms related to green marketing as related to fashion can be categorized into four areas: 1. Eco-friendly product marketing: product merchandising that usually uses organic materials and green manufacturing processes. 2. Green-communication marketing: PR strategies that use green slogans through deep impression advertising or special promotional events relating reducing, reusing and recycling, etc., with the brand's name. 3. Green environmental-marketing: marketing strategies that is an enlightenment campaign for environmental preservation and sustainable fashion design such as reusing, recycling, and reducing. 4. Cause-related marketing: marketing plans that return profits to society and that take an active part in the causes of the community. It was expected that these types of green marketing strategies would yield positive effects in enhancing brand value and consumer confidence as well as increasing profits.

아파트 단지의 녹지조성에 대한 주민의식과 가상평가법 적용에 관한 연구 (The Residents' Perception and the Application of Contingent Valuation Method for Green Areas in Apartment Housing Blocks)

  • This study is designed to derive a cost estimation method for the management of green areas in apartment housing blocks. For this purpose, quantity of green areas, their usages, management techniques were analyzed through a survey of residents. In this process, contingent valuation method(CVM) is utilized to evaluate the cost of green areas. The survey was conducted for about two weeks in June of 2002. The amount of willingness to pay(WTP) for green area management is calculated by the CVM program. The findings are as follows; First, the residents want more green areas in their apartment blocks, as well as in the surrounding urban areas, due to the shortage of green areas in their living environments. Second, the residents' opinion on green area is summarized as that of natural environment protectionist - it helps living environment to be more amenable and contributes the preservation of urban and global environments. This fact can be interpreted as the peoples profound recognition toward green areas. Third, the contingent valuation method(CVM) is suitable to evaluate WTP for management costs of green areas. Fourth, more than half of the residents(61.6%) agreed upon the costs of green area supply and management. calculated by the CVM. Estimated WTP is ₩ 1,900~2,400 per month per household.

활성탄에 의한 말라카이트 그린 흡착 특성에 관한 기초연구 (Fundamental Studies for the Adsorption Features of Malachite Green on Granular Activated Carbon)

  • The adsorption features of malachite green onto activated carbon have been investigated for its treatment from aqueous solution. The influential factors were examined the initial concentration of malachite green, reaction temperature, and pH. Under experimental conditions, adsorption equilibrium of malachite green was attained within 2 hr after the adsorption started. The adsorption reaction of malachite green followed the pseudo-second order rate model, and the adsorption rate constants(k2) decreased with increasing initial concentrations of malachite green. Adsorption behavior of malachite green on activated carbon was found to follow the Freundlich model well in the initial adsorbate concentration range. With increase in temperature, the adsorbed amount of malachite green at equilibrium increased, which indicate that the adsorption reaction was endothermic reaction. Thermodynamic parameters for malachite green adsorption reaction were estimated at varying temperatures, and in the pH range of 2-10, adsorption of malachite green increased.

Green-UX-Story: 온라인-오프라인 자연 체험을 통한 사용자 스토리 창출 및 공유 (Green-UX-Story: User Story Creation and Sharing through the Online and Offline Green Experience)

  • These days, it is getting important to have more chances to visit natural environment for the wellbeing life. The advancement of digital technologies allows us to get useful information regardless of time and location. In this paper, we investigate a way of improving user experience in the natural green environment using the digital technologies. This paper proposes a system called Green-UX-Story which supports users to create and share their story through the online and offline green experience. The system consists of two main systems: the "Story-Field" and the "Story-Tree". The Story-Field consists of a certain number of the Story-Trees allocated to a certain green site. In the Story-Field, users can see the Story-Trees that are owned by other users and share their stories. The Story-Tree contains the user-story in each branch and green information that are captured by the user on the web. The Story-Tree is generated using the L-system algorithm as the user adds stories. The main purpose of the system is to enable users to write their green stories from the both online and offline experiences. This paper describes the system configuration and the user scenario of the Green-UX-story.
