시흥시 물왕저수지 생태관광 자원화 계획 (Ecotourism Resource Planning for Mulwang Reservoir in Siheung)

  • The city of Siheung in the Kyunggi-do Province has various natural resources such as the ocean, mountains, wide farmland, various types of wetlands, streams and rivers. In addition, the city has a big greenbelt, which consists of two-thirds of the area, where development has been regulated. Since the city has a relatively well-preserved natural environment, it offers a great potential for regional development. The purpose of this study is to create an eco-tourism resource plan for the Mulwang reservoir, which offers many opportunities for ecotourism in the city of Siheung. This study includes a literature review for planning elements and suggests a comprehensive plan that includes conservation, eco-restoration, route program and practice program for ecotourism in and around the site. The plan also includes eco-farming, a visitor center, an ecovillage, the chance to experience livestock farming, opportunities to learn about and experience the forest, tracking, eco-learning, an environmental interpretation facility, fishing and aquatic-oriented leisure activities. This study's process and results show possibilities that can be applied to other areas where eco-tourism using natural resources is used for regional development.

공간 능력과 공간 기하적 사고에서 SketchUp활용의 효과 -중학교 1학년 입체도형의 측정 단원을 중심으로- (The impact of Google SketchUp on spatial ability and 3D geometric thinking of 7th grade students in volume measurement of solid figures)

  • The purpose of the study is to examine how effects of activities using Google SketchUp on students' spatial ability and 3D geometric thinking in measuring the volume of solid figures. By comparing the results from pre- and post-tests between the experimental group and control group, we found that activities using Google SketchUp help students improve their spatial ability in the spatial orientation and visualization. In addition, more than half students in the experimental group moved from level 4 up to level 7 in thinking process of measuring the volume in terms of Battista(2004)'s levels. This study suggests that the instruction with Google SketchUp can help to improve students' spatial ability and 3D geometric thinking in the regular class in middle school. In addition, SketchUp can be an advanced technological tool to support students' self-directed learning, which create an efficient educational environment and a great opportunity to learn geometry in an effective manner.

연령에 따른 새터민의 식생활 만족도의 차이에 관한 연구 - 중요도와 실행도를 분석 - (A Study on the Differences in Dietary Satisfaction with Age in North Korean Refugees)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate factors influencing dietary satisfaction, and their perceived importance and performance, in North Korean refugees according to age. Questionnaires were completed by 220 North Korean refugees and data was analyzed with SPSS software. From our study we determined that fresh food, clean dishes, and proper vegetable oil are of high importance but considered poorly performed. 'Taste' and 'comfort' were factors with low importance but considered well-performed. The IPA technique proved that 8 items including Q4, Q5, Q6, Q7, Q8, Q9, Q11, Q13 were in 'Doing great, keep it up' and no items that got high importance and low performance were in 'Focus here'. North Korean refugees like Korean food more than Chinese, Japanese, and Western food. They specifically want to learn how to cook Korean casseroles, soups, and side dishes(e.g. Myeolchibokkum, Kongjorim). The North Korean refugees who resided in South Korea under a year have difficulties in understanding menus and Western table manners.

  • 본 연구에서는 초등학생의 알고리즘 교육을 위하여 교육용 프로그래밍 언어인 스크래치를 이용하였다. 스크래치는 그래픽 기반의 프로그래밍 인터페이스를 제공하여 처음 프로그램을 접하는 초등학생의 경우 배우기과 용이하고, 즉각적인 프로그래밍 결과 확인은 학생들의 흥미를 붙잡아 줄 수 있는 매력적인 요소이다. 따라서 스크래치를 이용한 알고리즘 교육 자료 개발은 초등학생의 특성에 맞는 스크래치를 이용하였기 때문에 Bloom이 주창한 완전학습을 기대할 수있다. 또한 수준별로 제시된 학습지는 교육의 수월성을 제공해 줄 것이며 알고리즘을 활용한 문제해결 능력 및 창의성의 신장은 학생들이 앞으로 배우게 될 학습내용을 익히는데 훌륭한 자산이 될 것이다.

  • Light environment in the school building is one of the most important elements of the plan in order to improve student's ability to learn and the healthy growth. Thus, the window plan of the school building is a great addition to improve environmental-friendly performance through the daylight control. Daylight is highly beneficial for improving the indoor environmental quality and reducing building energy consumption, daylighting applications are scarcely considered, especially during the school building design process, because of lack of previous studies on the light environment of student and complex simulation process. Therefore, daylighting process were performed using ECOTECT, which has various advantage such as easy user interface and simple simulation processes. ECOTECT simulation were performed using weather data. As a result, ECOTECT simulation are performed for daylight autonomy and useful daylight illuminance. Using this data, Window planing is to propose and effective method in the early stages of design.

침지식 2단 막여과 고도 정수처리 시스템의 최종배출수 특징 (Characteristics of residuals from the 2nd-stage microfiltration in a dual membrane process)

  • Low-pressure membrane processes have been extensively expanded their applications to drinking water production in a few decades. As a capacity of a membrane plant becomes greater in recent years, proper methods to increase water production as well as to treat residuals have drawn great attention. A possible treatment option for the better water production is to apply a dual membrane system. The second stage microfiltration was installed and operated for approximately six months. The residuals from the two stage microfiltration were investigated to learn their characteristics in settling and dewatering processes. The settlability of the membrane residuals were greatest at the SS concentration of approximately 15000mg/L. The proper dose of the polyelectrolytes for filterability were obtained in the range of 0.5~1%. In the dosage range, the water contents of the membrane residuals were greater but the SRF were lower than the residual from the conventional process.

무엇이 진실일까?: 영어공용화에 관한 연구 (The truth beneath: Officialization of English in Korea)

  • There have been great controversies over making English as an official language in Korea. They have been triggered since some scholars published books and articles claiming that officialization of English is the best option for Korean people who spend significant amount of their life time to learn English. Those who are happy about the idea believe that officialization of English will be a good help for Korean people to gain a high degree of English proficiency, while others worry about possible negative impact on Korean language and culture. There are more diverse views and opinions on this issue. The distance between pros and cons about officialization of English doesn't seem to be negotiated. This study has been conducted not for finding the solution to the controversies. It is for understanding how those whose successful career and high living quality depend on gaining high command of English feel about acknowledging English as an official language of Korea. The results show that overall ideas on the officialization of English of research subjects are similar with those of scholars in academia. Around two third of total number of the research subjects expressed their criticism against the idea. One interesting thing is that all of the subjects, regardless their positions, think that there are serious problems in English education policy and system in Korea.

중학교 확률계산학습에서 시각화활동의 효과에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of the Visualization in the Learning of Probability Calculation at a Middle School)

  • Two (second-grade) classes of Yu-song middle school were chosen to research the effect of the visualization in the learning of probability calculation at a middle school. One class, as an experiment class, was taught the probability calculation of probability unit by the visualization learning and the other, as a controlled class, was taught it by the traditional lecture, and then through the writing tests there was a verification on the effect of right after test and the delaying test after 3 weeks to examine the learning effect of high- and low-level groups. It was difficult for the students to visualize the problems of the probability calculation, but I suggested simple models to the students and helped them to learn meaningfully. As a result of this study, there showed statistically significant difference in high-level group in the right after test.(P< .05) In the delaying test after 3 weeks, there also showed statistically significant marks only in high-level group.(P< .05) The visualization in the learning of probability calculation took more affirmative effect in the experiment class than the comparative class only in high-level group. The students in low-level group has difficulties in the visualization activities, but all the students in high-and low-level group thought the visualization was a great help to them in learning probability calculation.

국민학생의 과학개념, 과학과 관련된 태도, 지능의 상관 관계 연구 (Correlation Analysis of Elementary School Students' Scientific Conception, Intelligence and Attitude to Science)

  • The latest researchs show that students have their own preconceptions about scientific phenomena or theory before they learn about it in school. The preconceptions exert a great influence on the teaching and learning science. The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of intelligence and attitude to science on elementary school students were sampled from 4th and 6th grade. Data were obtained by IQ test and the questionnaires on scientific conception and attitude toward science. The result was analyzed by t-test, Correlation and ANOVA in the statistical packages SPSS/PC+. The major findings of this study are as follows : 1. The mean score of scientific conception of elementary school students was 12.89. The mean score of attitude to science was 247.29. The mean score of intelligence was 109.93. 2. The correlation coefficient between scientific conception and intelligence (r=.5098)was relatively high(p<.001). The correlation coefficient between attitude to science and scientific conception(r=.2364) was low(p<.001). 3. Significant difference on science conception was found among grade levels(p<.001). Significant difference on science conception was not found between sex (p>.05). 4. The subjects were divided into 4 groups by intelligence and attitude toward science. These 4 groups show the significant difference (p<.01) in the scientific conception. The groups of high of high intelligence showed high scientific conception.

Mechatronics Education Using Robot Competition in Okayama University of Science

  • Electronics machines make daily human life more convenient and comfortable and try to ease burdens. When designing and manufacturing such mechatronic systems, the engineers need to have a wide range of knowledge. The purpose of our education is for students to learn to use mechatronic techniques. To realize our goal, we regard "an interest in creation" of our student as an important educational method. In this paper, we propose and try an educational method for mechatronics creation using "their interest". The method is to hold robot competitions between 1st and 3rd year students as a regular curriculum. In order to confirm the progress of our students in our engineering course, in the last year, some students entered the Rescue Robot Contest held in Kobe Japan. As a result, our student team got second place, a great honor considering it was our first attempt. We confirm that the robot competition is a useful method to make students study by themselves.
