  • NUI(Natural User Interfaces) has been developed through CLI(Command Line Interfaces) and GUI(Graphical User Interfaces). NUI uses many different input modalities, including multi-touch, motion tracking, voice and stylus. In order to adopt NUI to legacy GUI applications, he/she must add device libraries, modify relevant source code and debug it. In this paper, we propose a gesture-based interface model that can be applied without modification of the existing event-based GUI applications and also present the XML schema for the specification of the model proposed. This paper shows a method of using the proposed model through a prototype.

  • This paper focuses components interactions which is important factor in designing software components. We classified several types of interaction between components and suggested appropriate graphical notation to extend UML and design process with extended method. Suggested notation and process was verified by practical experiment which is performed in travel agent component application. Representing interaction between components is not same to representing association between classes. UML in current version needs to be extended for representing this kind of components interaction. This research covers UML extension for components interaction and experiment for showing effectiveness.

  • Every conceptual temporal rat relationship can be described using one of seven relations (before, meets, overlaps, during, starts, finishes, and equals ). The conceptual representation provides an efficient means for our multimedia authoring system to automatically fill in the necessary timing details. We developed a multimedia Presentation authoring system that supports a mechanism for conceptually representing the temporal relations of different media. Among the many editors that make up our system, the temporal relation editor provides users with an intuitive mechanism for representing the conceptual flow of a presentation by simple and direct graphical manipulations. Our system is based on the SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language). The conceptual temporal relation editor and other editors of our system exchange their information in real-time and automatically generate SMIL codes through the SMIL Object Manager. Our system uses TRN(Temporal Relation Network) as its internal multimedia presentation representation. The TRN corresponds exactly to the structure seen in the graphical representation of the presentation. A parallel relationship found in a TRN can be collapsed into a single synchronization block. This facilitates the determination of the playing time of each component and can be the basic unit for reusability of already prepared blocks of presentation code.

  • Nowadays, XML has been favored by many companies internally and externally as a means of sharing and distributing data. there are many researches and systems for modeling and storing XML documents by an object-oriented method as for the method of saving and managing web-based multimedia document more easily. The representative tool for the object-oriented modeling of XML documents is UML (Unified Modeling Language). UML at the beginning was used as the integrated methodology for software development, but now it is used more frequently as the modeling language of various objects. Currently, UML supports various diagrams for object-oriented analysis and design like class diagram and is widely used as a tool of creating various database schema and object-oriented codes from them. This paper proposes an Efficinet Query Modelling of XML-GL using the UML class diagram and OCL for searching XML document which its application scope is widely extended due to the increased use of WWW and its flexible and open nature. In order to accomplish this, we propose the modeling rules and algorithm that map XML-GL. which has the modeling function for XML document and DTD and the graphical query function about that. In order to describe precisely about the constraint of model component, it is defined by OCL (Object Constraint Language). By using proposed technique creates a query for the XML document of holding various properties of object-oriented model by modeling the XML-GL query from XML document, XML DTD, and XML query while using the class diagram of UML. By converting, saving and managing XML document visually into the object-oriented graphic data model, user can prepare the base that can express the search and query on XML document intuitively and visually. As compared to existing XML-based query languages, it has various object-oriented characteristics and uses the UML notation that is widely used as object modeling tool. Hence, user can construct graphical and intuitive queries on XML-based web document without learning a new query language. By using the same modeling tool, UML class diagram on XML document content, query syntax and semantics, it allows consistently performing all the processes such as searching and saving XML document from/to object-oriented database.

  • Recently, as the form of media has been various and computer graphic technology has developed, it has been possible and attempted to present database information 3-dimensionally and dynamically. However, there was not many studies done regarding how to present 3-dimensional and dynamic information. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop presentation techniques and languages of 3-dimensional and dynamic information. This paper consists of four section. First, it was introduced by secondary research that fundamental knowledge and functions for presenting the information by the computer graphics. In other words, it was stated what is possible to present 3-dimensional information on the 2-dimensional screen and which functins becomes better as computer graphic technology has developed. Second, computer graphic model that present database information should also have hierarchical structure that database information has. Thus, it was discussed how to present information regarding how to make a structure of graphic model that present database information. There are two ways to present information- by changing structure of information and by changing graphical presentation techniques. Third, all the graphical presentation language was collected and explained. Finally, the case study of presenting statistical data for baseball players demonstrated concrete example of using graphical presentation language.

  • A design framework to employ the multidisciplinary design optimization technologies on a computer system has been developed and is named as the Extensible Multidisciplinary Design Integration and Optimization System (EMDIOS). The framework can not only effectively solve complex system design problems but also conveniently handle MDO problems. Since the EMDIOS exploits both state-of-the-art of computing capabilities and sophisticated optimization techniques, it can overcome many scalability and complexity problems. It can make users who are not even familiar with the optimization technology use EMDIOS easily to solve their design problems. The client of EMDIOS provides a front end for engineers to communicate the EMDIOS engine and the server controls and manages various resources luck as scheduler, analysis codes, and user interfaces. EMDIOS client supports data monitoring, design problem definition, request for analyses and other user tasks. Three main components of the EMDIOS are the Engineering Design Object Model which is a basic idea to construct EMDIOS, EMDIOS Language (EMDIO-L) which is a script language representing design problems, and visual modeling tools which can help engineers define design problems using graphical user interface. Several example problems are solved and EMDIOS has shown various capabilities such as ease of use, process integration, and optimization monitoring.

  • There are so many kind of a control program that is applied in various process fields such as power generation plant, water treatment plant, incinerator plant, chemical plant, cement plant etc.. Because an engineer in field edits and changes and debugs and tests properly control programs using text-based control language, it is very hard for the him to apply to plant. Therefore, this research implemented a graphical tool for control program builder that is applicable to various plants and usable engineers having a little knowledge for control language. I wish to run more efficiently precision process control offering function that can see visual expression about flow of control signal and intermediate output values of control program displayed in screen using this implemented function block builder.

  • In this paper, we present a knowledge-based object-oriented spatial database system called KOBOS. A knowledge-based approach is introduced to the object-oriented spatial database system for data modeling and approximate query answering. For handling the structure of spatial objects and the approximate spatial operators, we propose three levels of object-oriented data model: (1) a spatial shape model; (2) a spatial object model; (3) an internal description model. We use spatial type abstraction hierarchies(STAHs) to provide the range of the approximate spatial operators. We then propose SOQL, a spatial object-oriented query language. SOQL provides an integrated mechanism for the graphical display of spatial objects and the retrieval of spatial and aspatial objects. To support an efficient hybrid query evaluation, we use the top-down spatial query processing method.
