The $Li_3V_2(PO_4)_3$/graphene nano-particles composite was successfully synthesized by a facile sol-gel method. The addition of a graphene in $Li_3V_2(PO_4)_3(LVP)$(LVP) showed the high crystallinity and influenced the morphology of the $Li_3V_2(PO_4)_3$ particles observed in X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The LVP/graphene samples were well connected, resulting in fast charge transfer. The effect of the addition graphene nano-particles on electrochemical performance of the materials was investigated. Compared with the pristine LVP, the LVP/graphene composite delivered a higher discharge capacity of $122mAh\;g^{-1}$ at 0.1 C-rate, better rate capability and cyclability in the potential range of 3.0-4.3 V. The electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) measurement showed the improved electronic conductivity for the LVP/graphene composite, which can ensure the high specific capacity and rate capability.
Vanadium Pentoxide (V2O5) has been emerged as alternative electrode materials for supercapacitors due to their low cost, natural abundance, and environmental friendliness. Graphene (GR) loaded with V2O5 can exhibit enhanced specific capacitance. In this study, we present three-dimensional (3D) crumpled graphene (CGR) decorated with V2O5. The V2O5-graphene composites were synthesized from a colloidal mixture of graphene oxide (GO) and Ammonium metavanadate (NH4VO3), via aerosol spray drying and post heat treatment process. The average size of composite was ranged from 1.82 to 4.6 ㎛. Morphology of the composite changed from a crumpled paper ball to spherical ball having relatively smooth surface as the content of V2O5 increased in the composites. The electrochemical performance of the V2O5-graphene composites was examined. The V2O5-graphene composite electrode showed the specific capacitance of 312 F/g. In addition, the device possessed acceptable cyclic stability, with 84% after 2000 cycles at 2 A/g. These outstanding properties are expected to make the composites prepared in this study as promising electrode materials for supercapacitor applications.
In spite of the many attractive properties of (W,Ti)C, its low fracture toughness limits its wide application. To improve the fracture toughness generally a second phase is added to fabricate a nanostructured composite. In this regard, graphene was considered as the reinforcing agent of (W,Ti)C. (W,Ti)C-graphene composites that were sintered within 2 min using pulsed current activated heating under a pressure of 80 MPa. The rapid consolidation method allowed retention of the nano-scale microstructure by blocking the grain growth. The effect of graphene on the hardness and microstructure of the (W,Ti)C-graphene composite was studied using a Vickers hardness tester and FE-SEM. The grain size of (W,Ti)C was reduced remarkably by the addition of graphene. Furthermore, the hardness decreased and the fracture toughness improved with the addition of graphene.

Electrochemical synthesis was employed to prepare a novel hydroxyapatite/graphene (HAP/Gr) composite powder suitable for medical applications as a hard tissue implant (scaffold). The synthesis was performed in a homogeneous dispersion containing Na2H2EDTA·2H2O, NaH2PO4 and CaCl2 with a Ca/EDTA/PO43− concentration ratio of 0.25/0.25/0.15M, along with 0.01 wt% added graphene nanosheets, at a current density of 137 mA cm−2 and pH value of 9.0. The field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy observations of the composite HAP/Gr powder indicated that nanosized hydroxyapatite particles were uniformly placed in the graphene overlay. Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction confirmed graphene incorporation in the HAP/Gr powder. The electrochemically prepared HAP/Gr composite powder exhibited slight antibacterial effect against the growth of the bacterial strain Staphylococcus aureus.

Thermomechanical and surface chemical properties of composite films of poly(D, L-lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) were significantly improved by the addition of graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets as nanoscale fillers to the PLGA polymer matrix. Enhanced thermomechanical properties of the PLGA/GO (2 wt.%) composite film, including an increase in the crystallization temperature and reduction in the weight loss, were observed. The tensile modulus of a composite film with increased GO fraction was presumably enhanced due to strong chemical bonding between the GO nanosheets and PLGA matrix. Enhanced hydrophilicity of the composite film due to embedded GO nanosheets also improved the biocompatibility of the composite film. Improved thermomechanical properties and biocompatibility of the PLGA composite films embedded with GO nanosheets may be applicable to biomedical applications such as scaffolds.

A graphene(GR)-$TiO_2$ composite was synthesized from colloidal mixture of graphene oxide(GO) nanosheets and $TiO_2$ nanoparticles by an aerosol assisted self-assembly. The morphology, specific surface area and pore size of asprepared GR-$TiO_2$ composite were characterized by FE-SEM, BET, and BJH respectively. The shape of GR-$TiO_2$ composite was spherical. The average particle size was 0.5-1 ${\mu}m$ in diameter and the pore diameter ranged 20-50 nm. Photovoltaic characteristics of a mixture of the GR-$TiO_2$ and $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were measured by a solar simulator under simulated solar light. The highest photoelectric conversion efficiency of the mixture photoanode was 5.1%, which was higher than that of $TiO_2$ photoanode.
Due to their morphology, electrochemical stability, and function as a conducting carbon matrix, graphene nanosheets (GNS) have been studied for their potential roles in improving the performance of sulfur cathodes. In this study, a GNS/sulfur (GNS/S) composite was prepared using the infiltration method with organic solvent. The structure, morphology and crystallinity of the composites were examined using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The electrochemical properties were also characterized using cyclic voltammetry (CV). The CV data revealed that the GNS/S composites exhibited enhanced specific-current density and ~10% higher capacity, in comparison with the S-containing, activated-carbon samples. The composite electrode also showed better cycling performance for multiple charge/discharge cycles. The improvement in the capacity and cycling stability of the GNS/S composite electrode is probably related to the fact that the graphene in the composite improves conductivity and that the graphene is well dispersed in the composites.
In this study, to obtain good dispersity of graphene which has excellent conductivity and mechanical strength, the graphene was modified by two different methods. Then the SPAES/graphene hybrid membranes were fabricated from different graphene contents. We compared performance of composite membrane with different preparing method of graphene and content of modified graphene. The morphology of the composite membranes has been investigated using SEM. Chemical structure of modified graphene was analyzed using by FT-IR and EDX. The proton conductivity and methanol permeability of the hybrid membranes were studied with changing graphene content from 0.5 to 3.0 wt.%. The SPAES/modified graphene composite membranes showed high proton conductivity (0.21 S/cm) compared with the SPAES membrane (0.09 S/cm) at $80^{\circ}C$ and 100% relative humidity condition. And the methanol permeability was decreased linearly as the content of modified graphene increased from 0 to 1.5 wt%.
The manufacturing technology of composite material is applicable with filler characteristics maintaining low cost, flexibility, and easy process to develope the various functional composite materials. To realize functional composites, various researches on the high performance of composite materials using graphene as a filler is being actively conducted. In this study, physical and chemical properties were investigated using graphene to improve high functional properties. Graphene oxide (GO) was prepared using graphane nanoplatelet (GNP), and reduced graphene oxide (R-GO) was formed by reducing GO. The physical properties of GO and R-GO were analyzed, and the reliability of the manufactured method was reviewed by comparing that of GNP results. As a result of analysis by Raman spectroscopy, in the case of R-GO, it was confirmed that the intensity of D-peak and G-peak decreased compared to GO, and an increase of 0.08 was observed through the ratio of ID/IG. For the FTIR results, GO and RGO has a repeating C-C and C=C connection structure unlike GNP. GO and R-GO show clear peaks for C-O bond, C=C bond, C=O bond, and O-H bonding. As a result of X-ray diffraction analysis, GNP showed a wide diffraction peak at 25.86° of (002) plane characteristics, whereas GO and R-GO showed peaks corresponding to (001) and (100) planes. It was also found that the interlayer distance of GO increased by about 2.6 times compared to GNP.
Core-shell structured $Fe_3O_4/graphene$ composites were synthesized by aerosol spray drying process from a colloidal mixture of graphene oxides and $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles. The structural and electrochemical performance of $Fe_3O_4/graphene$ were characterized by the field-emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and galvanometric discharge-charge method. Core-shell structured $Fe_3O_4/GR$ composites were synthesized in different mass ratios of $Fe_3O_4$ and graphene oxide. The composite particles were around $3{\mu}m$ in size. $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles were encapsulated with a graphene. Morphology of the $Fe_3O_4/graphene$ composite particles changed from a spherical ball having a relatively smooth surface to a porous crumpled paper ball as the content of GO increased in the composites. The $Fe_3O_4/GR$ composite fabricated at the weight ratio of 1:4 ($Fe_3O_4:GO$) exhibited higher specific capacitance($203F\;g^{-1}$) and electrical conductivity than as-fabricated $Fe_3O_4/GR$ composite.
