  • This study is to investigate for the frost resistance of high-strength concrete using finely ground granulated blast-furnace slag with experimental parameters, such as water/binder ratio, replacement proportion of granulated blast-furnace slag, air content and methods of curing. The high-strength concrete using granulated blast-furnace slag is effective to resist frost and decrease scaling. The more increasable replacement proportion of granulated blast-furnace slag is, the better the effect is. The high-strength concrete using granulated blast-furnace slag needs hydrating adequately to prevent deterioration by drying in the early curing period. The micro structure of high-strength concrete, increased to the pore number with diameter of 0.03~0.1mm, is changed by using granulated blast-furnace slag, but is presented differently according to water/binder ration and replacement proportion of granulated blast-furnace slag.

  • In this research, the physical properties of self compacting concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash as a part of cement were investigated. Concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash was prepared with various ground granulated blast furnace slag(30-50 volume %) and fly ash(10-20 volume %) replacement for cement. The effect of each of the materals, which have effects on self compacting concrete made by the basic mix proportion used granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash after hardening, has been checked. The workability, flowing characteristics, resistance of segregation of materals, air content, and compressive strength of concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash were tested and the results were compared with those of ordinary portland cement concrete. In the experiment, we acquired satisfactory results at the point of flowing characteristics and strengths of concrete using ground granulated blast furnace and slag fly ash within the replacement ratio of 65%

  • In this research, the physical properties of self compacting concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag as a part of cement were investigated. Concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag was prepared with various ground granulated blast furnace slag replacement(20~80 volume %) for cement and the quantities of coarse aggregate in concrete were 50%, 55% and 60% of ratio of absolute volume of coarse aggregate. The workability, flowing characteristics, air content and compressive strength of concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag were tested and the results were compared with those of ordinary portland cement concrete. In the experiment, we acquired satisfactory results at the point of flowing characteristics and strengths of concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag within tile replacement ratio of 50% and the optimum quantity of coarse aggregate in concrete was found to be 50%~55% of ratio of absolute volume of coarse aggregate.

  • Several studies have reported that Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag improved the properties of concrete. The Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag could be a good alternative in the shortage of aggregate situation. Slag shows the possibility of influential aggregate and effect of environment preservation. This study presents that the basic properties of fresh concrete using Air-cooled Blast-furnace slag aggregate and Water-cooled Blast-furnace slag aggregate. Testing Factors of this study are concrete slump, slump loss, bleeding, and air contents. The result of this study is below. 1) In case of proportion slag and grave is 50 to 50, the biggest slump value is measured. 2) In the concrete using of air-cooled Blast-furnace slag aggregate, the bleeding capacity is a little. In the concrete using of Water-cooled Blast-furnace slag aggregate, the bleeding capacity goes up to 50% increase. 3) As substitution rate of the granulated blast-furnace slag goes up, air content is increased.

  • In this paper, the experimental investigation for the setting properties of cement paste, the consistency and strength properties of mortar with steel furnace slag dust was performed and compared with those of cement paste and mortar with ground granulated blast furnace slag. When steel furnace slag dust was replaced with normal portland cement, setting time and flow value indicated to good results like as mortar with ground granulated blast furnace slag. However, mortar with steel furnace slag dust expressed to appreciably strength devaluation according to containing ratio, and did not indicate the pozzolanic reaction like as ground granulated blast furnace slag.

  • Replacing a large amount of ground granulated blast furnace slag is limited because early age strength is low due to latent hydraulic property despite excellence of long-term strength. This study aimed to examine produceableness of high-activated ground granulated blast furnace slag using slag by-product from steel process. As experimental variable, the properties of strength development were analyzed by setting fineness and replacement ratio of slag by-product, curing conditions, and W/B. The results of study showed that high-activated ground granulated blast furnace slag using slag by-product as an activator improve the compressive strength of mortar. It is expected to be used as binder for secondary product of concrete considering curing and mixing conditions because high-activated ground granulated blast furnace slag can be hydrated by itself.

  • In this study, a mix design for self compacting concrete was based on Okamura's method and concrete incorporated just a ground granulated blast furnace slag. Replacement ratio of slag is in the range of $20-80\%$ of cement matrix by volume. For the optimal self compactability in mixture incorporating ground granulated blast furnace slag, the paste and mortar tests were first completed. Then the slump flow, elapsed time of 500mm slump flow, V funnel time and filling height by U type box were conducted in concrete. The volume of coarse aggregate in self compacting concrete was in the range of $50-60\%$ to the solid volume percentage of coarse aggregate. Finally, the compressive and splitting tensile strengths were determined in the hardened self compacting concrete incorporating ground granulated blast furnace slag. From the test results, it is desirable for self compacting concrete that the replacement of ground granulated blast furnace slag is in the range of $40-60\%$ of cement matrix by volume and the volume of coarse aggregate to the solid volume percentage of coarse aggregate with a limit of $55\%$.

  • In this paper, rust-protection performance of concrete using ground granulated blast-furnace slag are discussed. 4 kinds of W/B in combination with 3 kinds of replacement ratio of ground granulated blast-furnace slag and 2 kinds of chloride ion contents of are selected as experimental parameters. According to the experimental results, as the replacement ratio of ground granulated blast-furnace slag is increased, the corrosion area of steel bar tends to be decreased. However, as the autoclave cycle and chloride ion contents are increased, the corrosion area of steel bar is increased. In conclusion, when the replacement ratio of ground granulated blast-furnace slag is 50%, the strength and rust-protection performance appear to be most excellent.

  • This paper was peformed to verify the effect that granulated blast furnace slag gets in reinforcement corrosion resistance about chloride ion that invade from outside. An experiment accelerated for the reinforcement corrosion through repeat of brine digestion and dry. Reinforcement corrosion investigated half cell potential method of measurement by ASTM C876 and corrosion area ratio. If granulated blast furnace slag metathesis ratio is high generally that looked the corrosion of reinforcement decreasing as a result that evaluate reinforcement corrosion by ASTM C876 canon in this research. It showed high resistance about reinforcement corrosion that use normal portland cement and increase the metathesis rate of granulated blast furnace slag, as a result that evaluate metathesis rate effect of granulated blast furnace slag according to cement kind. when the test piece split destroying, area rate of reinforcement corrosion showed about result of half cell potential measurement.

  • In this study, when ground granulated blast-furnace slag is intermixed to mortar, the strength test, watertightness test, resistance to chemical attack of hardened mortar are compared and analyzed according to the replacement rate of slag. w/(cc+Bs) and Ground Granulated Blast-furnace slag. As a result, compared with ordinary portland cement, ground granulated blast-furnace slag intermixed concrete shows development of a long term strength, chemical-resistance, and excellent watertightness.
