  • Phishing website has become a crucial concern in cyber security applications. It is performed by fraudulently deceiving users with the aim of obtaining their sensitive information such as bank account information, credit card, username, and password. The threat has led to huge losses to online retailers, e-business platform, financial institutions, and to name but a few. One way to build anti-phishing detection mechanism is to construct classification algorithm based on machine learning techniques. The objective of this paper is to compare different classifier ensemble approaches, i.e. random forest, rotation forest, gradient boosted machine, and extreme gradient boosting against single classifiers, i.e. decision tree, classification and regression tree, and credal decision tree in the case of website phishing. Area under ROC curve (AUC) is employed as a performance metric, whilst statistical tests are used as baseline indicator of significance evaluation among classifiers. The paper contributes the existing literature on making a benchmark of classifier ensembles for web phishing detection.

  • An efficient context-free multiple-object segmentation using attention operator based on modified generalized symmetry transform is proposed and implemented by modifying a radial basis function network. By using the difference of intensity gradient, instead of te intensity gradient itself, in generalized symmetry tranform so as to make the attention operator to preserve the edges of the objects shape, an efficient context-free multiple-object segementation is proposed in which no a priori shape informtion on the objects is requried. The attention operator is implemented by using a modified radial basis function network which can reflect symmetry, and by using te edge pyramid of the input image, both of the local and the global symmetry of the objects are reflected simultaneously to make the multiple-object with different sizes be segmented with a singel fixed-size $n\timesm$ can be done with O(n) complexity. The simulaton results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently be used in context-free multiple-object segmentation even for the low contrast IR images as well as for the images from the camera.

  • In this paper, we propose a new paradigm (NEW_BP) to be capable of overcoming limitations of the traditional backpropagation(OLD_BP). NEW_BP is based on the method of conjugate gradients with the normalized direction vectors and computes step size through the linear search which may be characterized by order statistics and golden section. Simulation results showed that NEW_BP was definitely superior to both the stochastic OLD_BP and the deterministic OLD_BP in terms of accuracy and rate of convergence and might sumount the problem of local minima. Furthermore, they confirmed us that stagnant phenomenon of training in OLD_BP resulted from the limitations of its algorithm in itself and that unessential approaches would never cured it of this phenomenon.

  • A variety of pattern recognition algorithms including neural networks may be applicable to the identification of odors. In this paper, an identification technique for an electronic odor sensing system applicable to wound state monitoring is presented. The performance of the radial basis function(RBF) network is highly dependent on the choice of centers and widths in basis function. For the fine tuning of centers and widths, those parameters are initialized by an ill-conditioned genetic fuzzy c-means algorithm, and the distribution of input patterns in the very first stage, the stochastic gradient(SG), is adapted. The adaptive RBF network with singular value decomposition(SVD), which provides additional adaptation capabilities to the RBF network, is used to process data from array-based gas sensors for early detection of wound infection in burn patients. The primary results indicate that infected patients can be distinguished from uninfected patients.

  • A gradient-based evolutionary optimization methodology is presented for finding the optimal design of viscous dampers to minimize an objective function defined for a linear multi-storey structure. The maximum value along height of the transfer function amplitudes for the interstorey drifts is taken as the objective function. Since the ground motion includes various uncertainties, the optimal damper placement may be different depending on the ground motion used for design. Furthermore, the transfer function treated as the objective function depends on the properties of structural parameters and added dampers. This implies that a more robust damper design is desired. A reliable and robust damping design system against any unpredictable ground motions can be provided by minimizing the maximum transfer function. Such design system is proposed in this paper.

  • This paper presents a grid voltage-sensorless current control design for an LCL-filtered grid-connected inverter with the purpose of enhancing the reliability and reducing the total cost of system. A disturbance observer based on the gradient steepest descent method is adopted to estimate the grid voltages with high accuracy and light computational burden even under distorted grid conditions. The grid fundamental components are effectively extracted from the estimated gird voltages by means of a least-squares algorithm to facilitate the synchronization process without using the conventional phase-locked loop. Finally, the estimated states of inverter system obtained by a discrete current-type full state observer are utilized in the state feedback current controller to realize a stable voltage-sensorless current control scheme. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is validated through the simulation results.

  • Edge detection is an base research task in the field of image processing. Edge detection can be regarded as a technique for locating pixels of abrupt gray-level change. So with Gradient method, it can be computed easily. But it can't satisfy human naked eye. so in this paper, new algorithm based on the NLM(Non Local Means) is proposed for good performance for human naked eye.

  • Darknet is based on the characteristics of anonymity and security, and this leads darknet to be continuously abused for various crimes and illegal activities. Therefore, it is very important to detect and classify darknet traffic to prevent the misuse and abuse of darknet. This work proposes a novel approach, which uses the Gradient Boosting techniques for darknet traffic detection and classification. XGBoost and LightGBM algorithm achieve detection accuracy of 99.99%, and classification accuracy of over 99%, which could get more than 3% higher detection accuracy and over 13% higher classification accuracy, compared to the previous research. In particular, LightGBM algorithm could detect and classify darknet traffic in a way that is superior to XGBoost by reducing the learning time by about 1.6 times and hyperparameter tuning time by more than 10 times.

  • The path of a flapping airfoil during upstroke and down-stroke is optimized for maximum thrust and propulsive efficiency. The periodic flapping motion in combined pitch and plunge is described using Non-Uniform B-Splines(NURBS). A gradient based algorithm is employed for optimization of the NURBS parameters. Unsteady, low speed laminar flows are computed using a Navier-Stokes solver in a parallel computing environment based on domain decomposition. It is shown that the thrust generation is significantly improved in comparison to the sinusoidal flapping motion. For a high thrust generation, the airfoil stays at a high effective angle of attack for short durations.
