This study presents a descriptive statistical analysis on grade characteristics and employment rates of three ocean-related departments at a university. The ocean-related departments belong to the same college along with the other six departments. To obtain the correlation between the grade characteristics and employment rates, we carried out the followings. Firstly, four-year employment rates and six-semester GPAs (grade point averages) were obtained from the nine departments. Secondly, the box-and-whisker plots were constructed for each data set to capture the grade characteristics (mean, the first quartile, median, third quartile, whisker+, and Q3 box). Finally, the grade characteristics and employment rates were correlated. It is shown from the correlation analysis that the employment rate has a positive linear relation with the mean or third quartile, while the rate has a negative linear relation with the whisker+ or Q3 box, for the ocean-related departments possibly because these departments have higher regular employment rates than those of the other six departments.
There is an urgent need to improve the tool predicting success or failure of academic achievement of nursing in Korea so as to identify as early as possible those students who should receive special instruction and to improve screening procedures for admission of nursing. The main purpose of this study is to identify the correlation between the grade point averages of courses learned and their psychological test characteristics in a baccalaureate nursing program. All 240 students, except freshmen, enrolled in Nursing Department of Seoul National University in the spring semester, 1972, participated in this study. All of the subjects completed the psychometric tests such as interest test, personality test and test of self-concept. Total grade point averages, grade point averages of general education subjects, of supporting science courses and of professional education subjects were used as performance criteria of the students. Through the calculation of product-moment correlation coefficients between the test scores and four grade point averages of each class and of total subjects, the following findings and recommendations were obtained. 1. There was so much variation in characteristics of interest test correlated with academic achievement of nursing students in each class. 2. Since the school objectives, curriculum and teaching strategies may affect predictive efficiency of characteristics of students'interest test, interest test must-be utilized in a homogeneous group in order to predict school achievement. 3. Characteristics of interest test positively correlated at significant level with total grade point averages of all subjects were scientific interest-biological, scientific interest-physical, and humanitarian interest. Scientific interest-physics: was the only characteristic positively correlated at significant level with total grade point averages and grade point averages of professional courses. 4. There were various patterns in characteristics of personality test correlated with school achievement of nursing students by class pattern and personality maturation as they progress toward higher classes. 5. A characteristic of personality test, responsibility, is in high positive correlation with academic achievement in the upper division of classes. 6. Responsibility was the sole personality factor positively correlated at significant level with total grade point averages and grade point averages of nursing courses in the total number of students. 7. There were very different correlation coefficients between characteristics of self-concept test and academic achievement according to the type of each class and type of courses they learned. 8. Characteristics of self-concept test positively correlated at significant level with total grade point averages and grade point averages of nursing courses of all students were physical self and row variability. Those who have positive concept on their own physical status and who are deficient in self-concept were higher in total grade point averages and grade point averages of professional courses than other students. 9. Scores of professional courses offered in freshmen and sophomore classes were in positive correlation with limited number of characteristics of psychological tests. In pursuit of a tool predicting successful academic achievement of nursing students, their G.P.A. during the junior and senior year of nursing will serve as the more reasonable criteria. 10. Junior students of this school were in higher positive correlation with many psychological factors than other classes.
Based on a survey on 1620 students in primary school and secondary school., by adopting Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ), we got the following findings : 1. There is close relationship between emotionality characteristics of temperament and mathematics academic achievement of the subjects at Grade 5 (Primary 5), Grade 8 (Junior Secondary 2), and Grade 10 (Senior Secondary 2). Also there is close relationship between internal-external directivity characteristics of temperament and mathematics academic achievement at Grade 5 and Grade 8. While there is not close relationship between internal-external directivity characteristics of temperament and mathematics academic achievement at Grade 10; 2. There is close relationship between temperament types and mathematics academic achievement of the subjects from the three grades. Superior temperament, which benefit learning mathematics, are sanguine, sanguine-phlegmatic and phlegmatic; While inferior temperament types, which don't benefit learning mathematics, are choleric, melancholic and choleric-melancholic. With the rising of grade, temperament types of benefiting learning mathematics converts from external directivity emotion balance to balance of internal-external directivity emotion stability. While temperament of no benefiting learning mathematics converts from internal directivity emotion balance to balance of internal-external directivity emotion instability; 3. In mathematics education, students' temperament difference, which affects learning mathematics, should be recognized. Mathematics teachers should find out the best teaching ways, forms and methods which are suitable for student's temperament type, so that the students with different temperament types can gain better mathematics academic achievement.

The purposes of this study were to provide the fundamental data on elementary school girls' somatotype for their clothing construction by contemplating the stage of physical growth dividing into the period of school age and characterizing the variation of body type according to the school age. The results are as follows : 1. Form the results of one-way variables analysis and multiple comparson test(Duncan's test) classification of the period school age can be divided into 'early grade(1 2 grade)' ' middle grade(3 4 grade)' and 'later grade(5 6 grade)' 2. As the results of analyzing Mean Coefficient of Variation and Standard Deviation graph for direct and indirect measurments and index especially of the Coefficient Variation that explain individual difference of growth the items of height indicates individual difference related with height of lower body of early grade group the items of length individual difference related with length of upper body of later grade group and the items of circumference make little difference. The items of anagle makes pretty higher value that direct measurements and especially in lower angle of chest make a distinctive difference, This fact proves that children's somatotype change from the belly part extruded forwards of early and middle grade to the upper body part slanted slightly forward of later grade.
Experimental investigation has been carried out to study the characteristics of the various grade limestones in Samtaesan formation with the fundamental test (mineral compostion, thermal decomposition and etc.) and intrinsic reactivity test. It was shown that belite formation in low grade limestones is faster than high grade limestone, but alite formation has a contrary.
This study was carried out to clarify the effect of addition of mugwort powder and carcass grade on the quality and palatability of pork sausage. Pork sausage was prepared by four type such as grade B pork sausage without mugwort(A), grade B pork sausage with mugwort(B), grade E pork sausage without mugwort(C) and grade E pork sausage with mugwort(D). The chemical composition, calorie, water holding capacity, pH, residual nitrite, surface color, textural properties, free amino acid and sensory characteristics were evaluated. Moisture and crude ash were not significantly different among sausage. Crude fat of grade B sausage was higher than that of grade E sausage, and crude protein of grade E sausage was higher than that of grade B sausage. The calorie, water holding capacity and pH were not significantly different among four types of sausage, and the residual nitrite of sausage with mugwort powder was significantly lower than that of sausage without mugwort powder. In case of Hunter's L$\^$*/ value, grade B sausage was higher than that of grade E sausage. In case of Hunter's a$\^$*/ value, grade E sausage was higher than that of grade B sausage, and Hunter's b$\^$*/ value was not significantly different among sausage types. Textural properties, hardness, cohesiveness and chewiness were not significantly different among sausage types, but springiness of grade B sausage was higher than that of grade E sausage. The gumminess of grade B sausage with mugwort powder was lowest among sausage types. Free amino acids of A, B, C and D sausage were 0.603, 0.515, 0.618 and 0.531%, respectively. Sensory color, juiciness and palatability were not significantly different among sausage types, but color, taste and texture of grade B sausage were superior to grade E sausage, and those of sausage without mugwort powder were superior to the sausage with mugwort powder.

The purpose of this study was to identify the variables which could characteristics the New Young Generation (NYG), to investigate the relationship between level of NYG characteristics and information searching related to underwear purchasing, and the differences level of the NYG characteristics according to demographic variables (sex, grade, major), and examine the casual relationships of demographic variables (sex, place of growing background, parent's education) and level of the NYG characteristics on information searching related to underwear purchasing. The subjects were 723 college students (female = 324, male=398) living in Seoul and Kyuggi were participated in this study. The NYG is limited to person who born after 1970's. The result of this study were as follows; 1. Five factors of New Young Generation oriented characteristics were identified; F.1 'Info-telecommunication(Info-Telecom)'; F.2 'Family and Marriage'; F.3 'Consumption pattern'; FA 'Self-centered (Individualism)'; F.5 Work/Career oriented. 2. The relationship between the NYG characteristics and information search in underwear purchasing were significanted. 3. In demographic variables, gender, grade, and major were partially significant differences. 4. In male students, the result of the casual relationship between demographic variables with NYG characteristics and the level of the NYG in underwear purchasing showed that grade, background of grownplace, level of parent's education were significanted the high level of info-telecom factor associated with higher grade, city-grown, higher level of parent's education. In conclusion, the result showed that the level of NYG characteristics was significant to male students and specially for grade older students. The background of parent's education level was the another important variables to predicting the NYG characteristics. Finally the higher the NYG characteristics, the more information search in underwear purchasing.

Objective : This study was conducted with an aim to use it as basic data for developing assistive devices, such as insoles that can suppress the progress of degenerative diseases and strategies, to improve early degenerative diseases by assessing walking characteristics of farm workers who were classified as KL-grade in the perspective of motor mechanics. Method : 38 male and female adults who complained of knee joint pain for more than six months were selected, and they were classified according to KL-grade. KL-grade was assessed by an orthopaedic specialist and an occupational environment health specialist. Filming equipment (FX-1, CASIO, Japan) and a ground reaction force system (AMTI OR6, AMTI, USA) were used to identify ground reaction force characteristics, and WOMAC was used for a pain rating scale. Results : There was a difference between the right and left side (axis-X) according to KL-grade, and when the grade was higher, the internal ground reaction force was also higher. Changes in COP were not affected by KL-grade of the knee joint, but it tended to increase as the grade increased. There were differences in the time required for limb support while walking according to the grades, and when the grade was higher, walking was more inefficient with long braking force and short propulsion forces. Also, pain rating scale, the right and left side, and COP changes while in support phase were related. Conclusion : There was a partial, statically significant difference in KL-grade and ground reaction force occurring during the support phase, and there were differences in ground reaction forces according to the grades of degenerative arthritis in the knee joint, indicating that this study is worthy as basic data for future studies.

In this work we developed the closed-loop model of a paper machine during grade change with the intention to provide a reliable dynamic model to be used in the model-based grade change control scheme. During the grade change, chemical and physical characteristics of paper process change with time. It is very difficult to represent these characteristics on-line by using physical process models. In this work, the wet circulation part and the drying section were considered as a single process and closed-loop identification technique was used to develop the grade change model. Comparison of the results of numerical simulations with mill operation data demonstrates the effectiveness of the model identified.
Arabica coffee is classified for trading according to the New York Board of Trade(NYBOT) green coffee classification. NYBOT's grading system is based on classification derived from a defect count on a 300 g sample. In the present study, green and roasted coffees were investigated for possible correlations between the content of defective beans and sensory characteristics. Sensory evaluation was performed by expert tasters used by the Specialty Coffee Association of America(SCAA) cupping method. For green coffee, the percentage of defective beans increased. as the coffee grade decreased. Black and sour beans were not found in the NY2 grade coffee out of all natural, pulped natural, and washed coffee samples. Sour and insect damage were found in more natural coffee samples as the green coffee grade decreased. Green and broken beans were found in more washed coffee samples as the green coffee grade decreased. Flavor, clean, uniformity, aftertaste, and overall sensory characteristics were significantly different among the NY2, NY3/4 and NY4/5 grade coffee in all natural, pulped natural and washed coffee samples. The natural coffee in the NY2 sample presented the highest body characteristic. The pulped natural coffee in the NY2 sample presented the highest sweetness and balance characteristics. The washed coffee in the NY2 sample presented the highest acidity and flavor characteristics. In conclusion, the percentage of defective beans increased as sensory characteristics decreased.
