  • This paper deals with dynamic study of co-generator system with derived dynamic models of generator, excitation system, and turbine/governor from field tests. Mainly this study concentrates on frequency control of demand users that have co-generator by under-frequency relay. We simulates dynamic study of co-generator system using EMTDC.

  • 주파수는 발전기 조속기와 전적거래소 EMS AGC의 협조제어 체계가 적절하여야 안정적인 운영이 가능하며, 과다한 주파수 조정은 경제급전을 저해함은 물론 발전기의 수명단축을 초래하기 때문에 AGC 최적튜닝은 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 '07년도에 거래소 계통운영처에서 수행한 AGC 제어파라미터 튜닝기법 및 효과에 대해 논하고 있으며, 학계는 물론 동종업계에 AGC 관련 기술개발시 업무추진에 도움이 되었으면 한다.

  • This paper proposes a novel controller design scheme for multimachine power systems based on the explorized policy iteration. Power systems have several uncertainties on system dynamics due to the various effects of interconnections between generators. To solve this problem, the proposed method solves the LQR (Linear Quadratic Regulation) problem of isolated subsystems without the knowledge of a system matrix and the interconnection parameters of multimachine power systems. By selecting the proper performance indices, it guarantees the stability and convergence of the LQ optimal control. To implement the proposed scheme, the least squares based online method is also investigated in terms of PE (Persistency of Excitation), interconnection parameters and exploration signals. Finally, the performance and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are demonstrated by numerical simulations of three-machine power systems with governor controllers.

  • After steam turbines in power plant drives generator and maintains it at rated speed using high temperature and high pressure steam energy, they regulate the output of generator when synchronized in parallel with the power system. By the way, as the steam flow into turbine can not be reduced fast even though the electrical load is lost, the turbine gets into dangerous situation due to the increase of its speed. At this time, the duty of the turbine governor is "how to limit the speed within its overspeed trip setpoint and escape from danger." In order to implement this purpose, there are various ways different from valve position control. So, in this paper, the various methods for overspeed protection are introduced in comparison with valve position control.

  • Speed control of kerosene engine by the combination of a manual throttle and centrifugal weight type governor is not adequate for evaluating energy requirements in laboratory and field performance tests. This paper describes an engine speed control system. This system consists of Apple-II microcomputer, step motor set to the throttle shaft directly, step motor driving and interfacing circuit, engine performance data acquisition system for measuring load, speed and time and potentiometer as speed adjustor. The performance of this system was successful in maintaining engine speed within ${\pm}37$ rpm of reference speed indicated by computer and potentiometer.

  • In general, the PSS/E program is used for analyzing KEPCO System in terms of stability and the EMTDC Program is needed to analyze the transient characteristics of power system. The FSS/E provides various control models such as exciter. governor and PSS models whereas there ale few control of models in EMTDC. In this paper. we developed an EMTDC model for IEEET3 exciter which has been applied in KEPCO system. The EMTDC model is developed by examining PSS/E control block and using User Define Model in addition to default.lib provided by EMTDC we verify the correctness of developed IEEET3 model with PSS/E and EMTDC simulation results for the same test system.

  • The control performances of a fuzzy controller depend on its control rules, I/O membership functions, and scaling factors. Scaling factors are very important to adjust control parameters to the process which is to be controlled. For tuning the sealing factors, trial and error method is used in conventional fuzzy controller, which is very difficult and time consuming. This paper proposes a tuning method of scaling factors based on the concept of tuning rules for the conventional Pl controller parameters. The proposed automatic tuning fuzzy controller was evaluated by computer simulations. Good results have been obtained for the small hydro power plant.

  • The gas-turbine generator of Seo-Incheon combined-cycle plant was tested for derivation of a model for dynamic analysis. Load rejection and AVR step test was performed to get the dynamic response of generator. The parameters of generator/control system model were determined by these measured data. No-load saturation test was performed for the saturation characteristics of the generator under steady state. V-curve test was also performed so as to find exact generator parameters. Q-axis parameters of generator was derived by measuring power angle. AVR and governor constants have been tuned by their oscillatory period and setting time characteristics. The derived parameters of generator control system is verified by one-machine infinite bus system simulation. (author). 7 refs., 20 figs., 5 tabs.

  • In this paper, optimal modulation controller is designed to improve the stability of A.C. and A.C.-D.C. power system, and optimal theory is applied to select optimal modulation controller input signal Optimal modulation controller for speed governor and exciter controller system is constructed in A.C. power system, while the controller is constructed to the both control systems like AC. power system, considering ACR-AVR, APR-$A{\gamma}R$ as the control method of direct current system. It is considered that the stability of A.C. power system only and A.C.-D.C. power system against load fluctuations and disturbances under case of optimal modulation control.

  • Electric Power system is a large scale nonlinear control one. Therefore, nonlinear control is desirable for the stabilizing, and it is thought that to establish an analytical method for optimal control inputs of AVR(automatic voltage regulator) and GOV(governor) is an important subject. In this paper, as a simple case, one-machine infinite-bus electric power model system with GOV is treated under the three kinds of control inputs; (i) fuzzy control input, (ii) linear control input and (iii) no control input. Next, the stability for each case is analyzed, and the three-dimensional stability regions and control responses are evaluated and compared. Finally, it is concluded that the linear control input does not necessarily give a good region and response, and the fuzzy one is better than others.
