  • After the opening of Gosu - cave, as tourist has increased, the inner parts and outer regions of cave is changed. This paper focuses on the environmental changes according to development of tourist resort in Gosu-cave. The result of this study can be found in the following facts: (1) As cave is opened lighting equipments set up for the purpose of helping inspection and coming in and out. (2) As the temperature rises in the coming in and out of tourist, this is caused to dry and peel off the topographes in cave. (3) The quality of water in cave is contaminated by the wastes, garbages and coins by tourists. (4) As Chungju - Dam has constructed, the linkages of the other tourist resort of Gosu - cave is improved. It is raised on the accessability of Gosu - cave. (5) As people has access to Gosu - cave, tourists increased more than the former times. Thus this phenomenon is contributed to the increasements of regional incomes and opportunity of regional employment.

  • Due to the tour route of Gosu cave's designated route, it has a specific shape of a tree. There are some limitations because of there being no comparable analysis to other caves. However, it will be provided as basic data to do the comparable analysis with similar caves' tour routes, and to understand some problems according to the viewing route.

  • The Gossi Cave, Natural Monument 219, extends horizontally for 3,388m with 215m elevation. 620m of the horizontal cave length was opened to the public in 1974. The Gosu Cave, Natural Monument 256, also was opened the public for only 685m of the horizontal cave length, 1,700m, in 1976 in order to preserve its ecological cave environment. The surface of the speleothems in two caves have been turning black due to pollutants after the caves were opened to the public. The degrees of temperature, humidity and partial pressure of carbon dioxide in the caves were related the seasonal variation. Specially, the value of partial pressure of carbon dioxide($CO_2$) in the cave higher in the summer than any other seasons. The partial pressure of $CO_2$ continues to build in the summer because of exceed the self-purification limit in the caves. The value of $CO_2$ variation in the caves was mainly controlled by the amount of visitors. As a result, we have to controlled the amount of visitors to preserve the cave environment.

  • The envirronment of Gosu cave and distribution of inhabitant were surveyed every month from 2002, April to 2003, march. in Gosu Cave, average temperature in summer was $16^{circ}C$ and in winter $14^{circ}C$. Average humidity in summer was $85\%$ and in winter $90\%$. At the entranceof cave in the site 1, trogloxenes:4 species were observed. Troglophiles: Diestrammena japanica was a large population. inside of cave in the site 2 and in the middle Part of the site 3, troglobites:4 species, troglophiles:2 species, trogoxenes: Rhinoiophus ferrumeqinum korai, skleroprotopus laticoxalis longus were observed. Galloisiana sp. were observed on the ground of the Sindong in the site 4, Pseudocrangonyx asiaticus were obserued in the water of yongsu valley. Troglobites have to be preserve as cave animals living in the darkness for a long time.

  • The research of caves widely deals with geomorphology, meteology, geology, biology, archaeology and physiochemistry. Most famous caves in Korea are in Dongrong Cave in Yongbyun-Goon in 1929, Sungru Cave in Uljin in 1960s. Lava caves were developed as Gymrung Sa Cave, Manjang Cave and Hupje Cave in Cheju Island. Limestone caves, Gosi Cave, Gosu Cave, Nodong Cave and Chundong Cave, were developed for the commercial purposes. Visiting and researching caves are active in Korea. Caves will more be commercialized than before.(omitted)

  • Pholcus gosuensis sp. novo is described from the entrance zone of Gosu cave, Chungchengbuk-do, Korea. The species is characterized by male palpal organs with three expanded apophyses and developed callosity on procursus, two frontal apophyses of chelicerae and degrading appendix, and sclerotized arches on uterus externus. The species is related to P. crassus Paik 1978 and P. acutulus Paik, 1978 in having identical uncus and embolus but differentiated from those species by the combined characters of large apophyses and heavily sclerotized callosity on procursus, and structure of arches on uterus externus.

  • Cavernocypris gosuensis n. sp. (Cyprididiae, Cypridopsinae), a new subterranean ostracod species is described with figures of female valves, mouthparts, appendeges and SEM photos from Gosu cave, Danyang-Gun, Chungcheongbuk-Do in Korea. The new stygobiont speices is sixth of the genus Caveroncypris Hartmann, 1964 that characterized by both valeves with a median concave part in ventral view and two groove lines in dorsal view, the reduction of the furca, which is flagellum like in female and the left valve ventrally overlaps the right valve when the carapace is closed and can be distinguished from its congers by left valve with 6 muscle scars in innerpart, mandible palp with one claw and 3 setae on the terminal segment and without seta on the exterodistal border of segment III. The animals were collected within pH 7.31-8.74, temperature ($^{\circ}C$) 13.0-14.6 and dissolved oxygen (mg/l 6.75-14.84 from Aug.2003 to Sep.2004.
