  • Nowadays, one of the major technical issues in manufacturing is to create an environment to promote collaboration among diverse engineering activities. Collaborative engineering is an innovative approach integrating widely distributed engineering activities through promoting information sharing and actual collaboration. It requires close interactions among developers, suppliers and customers, and consideration of entire product life cycle from concept to disposal. A carefully-designed operating system is crucial for successful collaboration of many different activities in a Networked Virtual Manufacturing System(NVMS). High extensibility, flexibility and efficiency ale the key characteristics requested of an operating system to handle the complexity of the NVMSs. In this paper, we propose a model of the operating system for collaborative engineering using concurrent quasi-procedural method(QPM). QPM is a goal-driven data management technique for distributed and parallel computing environments. It is to be applied to the evaluation of activities to be executed, validities of input data, execution path of activities for a needed output, and expected to greatly improve the productivity of operations by preventing redundant evaluations. Collaboration among many different engineering activities in NVMSs is to be performed by the network of agents that encapsulate the capabilities of both users and their tools.

Technical-Economical Evaluation of Chain Vertical Alignment in Underground Urban Subways: The Case of Qom Subway, Line A

  • Urban subways are one of the main parts of urban transportation networks in every city that always requires much attention in order to improve its efficiency in aspects of safety, reliability speed and costs. As the viewpoint of costs, an accurate design, especially design of vertical alignment, can have a dominant role to reduce the costs of urban railway projects. This paper seeks to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of designing chain vertical alignment for urban subways in compare to flat vertical alignment. To achieve this goal, line A of Qom subway in Iran was selected as a case study in this research. Five parameters considered in the technical-economical evaluation: (1) energy consumption, (2) rolling stock, (3) operation, (4) civil works and geotechnical and (5) hydrological, drainage and pumping. According to the results, a power saving of about 40% have been estimated in the chain vertical alignment for the train without regenerative braking in compare with the flat vertical alignment, although the power saving was calculated less than 10% for the train with regenerative braking. Finally it was found that due to the modern rolling stock technology, the chain vertical alignment represents fewer advantages in compare to the past years.

  • The aging of the population has a fundamental impact on the national economy, including decline in productive population, atrophy of available funds, slowdown of technological innovation, slowdown of economic growth, and decrease in vitality of society as a whole. Increase of elderly population would lead to increase in elderly welfare consumers, which would also lead to increase the demand for elderly welfare services. However, due to the continuation of the low birth rate, there is a great shortage of human resources who can handle this. In such a situation, the main goal of the elderly welfare system in the future should aim to actively try to design effective policies, prepare systems, and implement services for the problems of the aged society, and to find ways to expand the finances, manpower, methods, and facilities necessary for the welfare of the elderly. Elderly welfare services in Korea have been changed and developed in accordance with socioeconomic changes such as industrialization and urbanization. This study examines the changes in elderly welfare services in Korea by the flow of times and presents a method which utilizes artificial intelligence and Internet of Things in services for the elderly welfare consumers to improve both quality and efficiency.

  • When facing the global severe competition, the enterprises all try their best to upgrade the quality, reduce the costs to reach the goal of customer satisfaction. Motorola was the earliest firm creating the term Six Sigma (6 ${\sigma}$); GE was the enterprise successfully fulfilling Six Sigma. The success of these two firms revealed the prominent effects and became the world-class model enterprises. The main purpose of promoting Six Sigma activity was to reduce the possible defects in the business process to the least through designing and monitoring business process in order to reach the goals such as the best quality and efficiency, the lowest costs, the shortest circular process time, maximum profits and customer satisfaction. This research used the Six Sigma technique to improve the business process of ceramics manufacturing plant and find out the major factors of slower core task time by the analytical process of Process Mapping, Pareto Chart, Simu18 simulation software and figures and proposed the improvement measures. Through the confirmation of the case companies, it successfully reduced the core process time and the organizational costs and increased the capacity.

  • Since 2010, RDA has discovered 30 Green-Road as the way of developing rural area. However, results from conference with expert and village leaders of Green-Road concluded that there were problems such as little financial benefits due to mismanagement and needs of improving the efficiency of management. In order to respond to these issues, this research has conducted empirical investigation about the status, management of Green-Road and its influences on local area. Main purposes of this investigation was to reveal the various obstacles in road management, and to find better ways of road management. To accomplish the goal of research, this study conducted survey and interviews with leaders in villages. Particularly, the investigation had focused on the specific management issues suggested by village leaders. Based on the results, this research suggested establishing a committee for creating leaders network and developing effective management method in order to improve road management and its consequences.

  • To develop and improve as the finest foodservice industry, it has to secure the best team organized by the most satisfied employees. It is very important for foodservice industry to have the organization efficiency and study all kinds of factors to be influenced by several conditions. This study was focused on some matters to achieve the foodservice industry's business goal as well as to satisfy the employees. 1, the writer, set up four hypotheses for the examination. First, there will be not an interrelation between the employee's satisfaction and sex, age, marriage, educational background, and eager level. Second, there will be not an intreation between the employee's satisfaction and work period, position, department and major. This study could get some result from the analysis suggested by the above hypotheses. The following are the further explanation including some outstanding feature from the analysis based on the human resource: first for the category about the level of job satisfaction evaluated by the census, foodservice industry employee's job satisfaction depends upon the atmosphere in which employes could enjoy their work. Even the promotion chance can be made in the environment of creative and active working condition. Finally, the promotion chance can be realize not through the employee's attitude assuming the motivation factor to be difference from hygiene factor, but through keeping their work carried out in various activity.

Blockchain-Assisted Trust Management Scheme for Securing VANETs

  • The main goal of VANETs is to improve the safety of all road users. Therefore, the accuracy and trustworthiness of messages transmitted in VANETs are essential, given that life may rely on them. VANETs are provided with basic security services through the use of public key infrastructure-based authentication. However, the trust of users is still an open issue in VANETs. It is important to prevent bogus message attacks from internal vehicles as well as protect vehicle privacy. In this paper, we propose a trust management scheme that ensures trust in VANETs while maintaining vehicle privacy. The trust scheme establishes trust between vehicles where a trust value is assigned to every vehicle based on its behavior and messages are accepted only from vehicles whose trust value is greater than a threshold, therefore, protecting VANETs from malicious vehicles and eliminating bogus messages. If a traffic event happens, vehicles upload event messages to the reachable roadside unit (RSU). Once the RSU has confirmed that the event happened, it announces the event to vehicles in its vicinity and records it into the blockchain. Using this mechanism, RSUs are prevented from sending fake or unverified event notifications. Simulations are carried out in the context of bogus message attacks to evaluate the trust scheme's reliability and efficiency. The results of the simulation indicate that the proposed scheme outperforms the compared schemes and is highly resistant to bogus message attacks.

A Study on the Development of a MOOC Design Model

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a MOOC design model that would improve the current practice of MOOC development in Korea by specifying easy-to-use course development procedures and guiding strategies. Following Richey and Klein (2007)'s conceptual model development procedure, the first step was to perform critical review of relevant literature and observe typical MOOC development processes. As a result, the initial model was developed. The second step was to conduct the expert review with five educational technology and MOOC researchers to secure the internal validity of the model. Based on the experts' suggestions, the model was revised and once again reviewed by the same experts. This process resulted in the development of the 2nd version of model. The third step was to carry out external validation research in order to test the effectiveness, efficiency, and usability of the model. A basic model may be confirmed or corrected based on examination of its results. Consequently, the model was elaborated as the final model. In the final model, 6 procedural phases and 9 specific steps were included. The six procedural phases are: Analysis (1st Iteration), Design, Development (Course Development), Implementation, Evaluation, and Analysis (2nd Iteration), a slight variation of ADDIE model. The specific steps include: 1) Goal Setting, 2) Environment Analysis, 3) Content Design, 4) Style Design, 5) Course Development, 6) Implementation Plan, 7) Course Implementation, 8) Summative Evaluation, and 9) Need Reflection. The study concluded with suggestions for further research and application of the MOOC design model.

  • Digital environment that is represented to internet is displacing business way of industry and business achievement way with the fast speed being giving great change on life whole, improve existence business process utilizing internet and Web connection technology, information superhighway to tradition industrialist manufacture and e-transformation's propulsion that wish to maximize productivity and administration efficiency is spread vigorously. In this paper, we wish to accomplish generation equipment's heighten stability and believability through remote monitoring and control of PV system. This paper describes the design of the monitoring system for sensing the monitoring data and indirect controlling of the PV system. Most of the conventional monitoring system depend on the special hardware and software. Basic design goal of monitoring system is to provide the convenience for the user and the portability for the system. In order for the system to fulfill its requirements, it was designed using Labview GUI facility based on the Windows 2000 environment of IBM PC compatible and Add-on card based on the TCP/IP protocol. Advantage of the monitoring system are a personnel expenses curtailment effect, free of the place restriction and unmanned system of the generation plants, etc.

  • Since entering the 21st century, the construction industry has developed faster and faster, and more and more technologies have been applied in the construction industry. BIM technology (Building Information Modeling) was born in this environment. The application of BIM technology can greatly improve the efficiency of cost management and help achieve the goal of cost management. But through BIM to realize project cost management, there is still no good solution. In order to solve this problem, this paper puts forward the concept of WBS structure applied to construction projects by studying the BoQ (Bill of Quantities) list based on BIM, and proposes the numbering method of the structure. The WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) structure proposed in this paper divides more than 5000 cost objects into 133 projects according to the type of work and project schedule. This structure helps to realize the application of BIM in project cost management. Although this article has studied more than 5000 data of three projects, it does not think that it can cover all cost objects in the existing construction industry. The purpose of this article is to propose a solution for cost and Process Control using BIM-based BoQ data.
