With society becoming more advanced and complex, the required management engineering makes essential the development of human resources that can propose solutions for problems of new phenomena from a different perspective. As an example of such phenomena, we note a consumer electronics 'Eco-point' system campaign in this study. To mitigate global warming, revitalize the economy, and encourage the adoption of terrestrial digital compatible TVs, the consumer electronics Eco-point system campaign was implemented in May 2009 in Japan. In this study, we note a model which is constant term with exponential curve with notion of the growth phenomenon (Nakagiri and Kurita, Journal of the Operations Research Society of Japan, 2002). In our study, we call this model the 'differential equation model of the growth phenomenon.' This model represents a phenomenon with a hierarchical structure for capturing the properties of n species. In this study, we propose a new model which can represent not only the impact of largescale campaigns but also seasonal factors. Accordingly, we understand the phenomenon of fluctuation of sales of some products caused by large-scale campaigns and predict the fluctuation of sales. The final goal of this study is to develop human resources that can propose provision and solution for pre-consumption and reactionary decline in demand by understanding the impact of large-scale campaigns. As the first step of this goal, our objective is to propose a new regression method with different conventional perspective that can describe the fluctuation of sales caused by large-scale campaigns and show the possibility of new management engineering education.
In this study, for the effective environmental investigation at the level of planning, environmental assessment model to be integrated with urban comprehensive plans was developed. This model was applied to the Suwon City urban comprehensive plan and was tested to derive the future application program and the adaptability to the current research issues. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, we defined basic items for environmental assessment as to be used in the developed SEA model. We also defined three ranges and twelve items for the environmental assessments, which can be used in the assessment of the urban comprehensive plan through the expert advices. Second, we performed the case study by applying the developed SEA model to the Suwon City urban comprehensive assessment, and investigated the environmental impacts through an expert inquiry at the "phase 5" of the model. The results of the case study showed that Suwon City urban comprehensive plan contained partially discrepancies at the goal of the planning. The spatial strategy for leisure, park and open space, and green belt was analysed not to be effective in energy use. The case study also indicated that the environments of Suwon City are expected to be much worse in each sectional plan, if the City was to implement the present five sectional plans for life boundary and distribution of population, land use plan, transportation plan, industrial development plan, and life environmental plan. Third, according to the result of the case study, an mitigation plan for urban comprehensive plan of Suwon City was proposed as the following four stages; modification of planning goal, modification of site alternatives, modification of planning contents, and proposal of mitigation measures.
This study was designed to investigate the correlation between perceived TQM performance and organizational culture of dietitians. The objective of the study is to help the management of foodservice by providing a direction which will elevate perceived TQM performance of dietitians and presenting plans which will ensure effective dietitians. Questionnaires handed out to 308 dietitians worked in institutional foodservice operation including elementary, middle and high schools, hospitals, business and industries. In terms of TQM importance and performance, the more important dietitians perceived, the higher their performance level rose. Data form the IPA, external and internal customer satisfaction, executive ability, communication system and technology, information technology and application ability, food process, strategy, and leadership were required further improvement by dietitians. Of present organizational culture model, human relations model and open systems model were more likely to be adopted by dietitians in middle and high schools. According to the type of foodservice management, the open systems model was more preferred by dietitians from self-operated operations rather than respondents from contracted operations. Canonical correlation analysis between TQM performance and organizational culture showed canonical correlation to be higher (canonical correlations coefficient: .66). In conclusion, TQM performance-organizational culture showed higher canonical correlation. In the organizational culture, foodservice operation is capable of improving the aims for the rational goal model and the open systems model. The results showed that TQM performance and organizational culture had significant relationship, especially positive organizational culture emphasizing on internal process and rational goal model would have influence on TQM performance of dietitians. Foodservice operation, however, should recognize importance of open and development culture to improve dietitians' TQM performance. To apply open system foodservice organization should encourage dietitian and foodservice employees to challenge and compete for the works, Moreover, organizational effort such as information exchange program and support system should be established.
Background: Physical activity (PA) is ranked as a leading health indicator and the workplace is a key setting to promote PA. The purpose of this study was to examine how goal-setting and exercise self-efficacy (SE) during a health promotion program influenced PA level among Japanese workers. Methods: Using a cross-sectional study design, we surveyed 281 employees. The short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to assess PA level. Exercise SE was assessed using a partially modified version of Oka's exercise SE scale. Personal goals were assessed as the total numbers of "yes" responses to five items regarding "details of personal goals to perform PA". A mediational model was used to examine whether exercise SE mediates between the number of personal goals and PA level. Results: The mean age of the participants was 46.3 years, 76.2% were men, and the most common occupational category was software engineer (30.6%). The average PA level per week exceeded the recommended level in 127 participants (45.2%). One hundred and eighty-four participants (65.5%) set some form of concrete personal goal to perform PA. The relationship between the number of personal goals and PA level was mediated by exercise SE. Conclusion: Our study showed that exercise SE mediates goal-setting and increases PA. The results suggest that the components of PA promotion programs should be tailored to enhance participants' confidence in performing PA.
This study aims to identify the structural relationship between mastery-approach goal orientation, instructor support, problem solving, collaborative skills, and course satisfaction among students who participated in project-based learning. To achieve the purpose of this research, researchers have conducted surveys between June and December in 2019. A total of 283 cases were selected for analysis. According to the study, mastery-approach goal orientation and instructor support have positive effects on problem solving and course satisfaction. Instructor support has positive effects on collaboration skills, and problem solving has positive effects on collaboration skills and course satisfaction. Also, the mediating effect of problem solving in the relationship among mastery-approach goal orientation, instructor support, collaboration skills, and course satisfaction was found to be statistically significant. However, the path between mastery-approach goal orientation and collaboration skills was not statistically significant. Based on these findings, academic and practical implications were suggested.
There are various machine learning techniques such as Reinforcement Learning, Deep Learning, Neural Network Learning, and so on. In recent, Large Language Models (LLMs) are popularly used for Generative AI based on Reinforcement Learning. It makes decisions with the most optimal rewards through the fine tuning process in a particular situation. Unfortunately, LLMs can not provide any explanation for how they reach the goal because the training is based on learning of black-box AI. Reinforcement Learning as black-box AI is based on graph-evolving structure for deriving enhanced solution through adjustment by human feedback or reinforced data. In this research, for mutually exclusive decision-making, Mutually Exclusive Learning (MEL) is proposed to provide explanations of the chosen goals that are achieved by a decision on both ends with specified conditions. In MEL, decision-making process is based on the tree-based structure that can provide processes of pruning branches that are used as explanations of how to achieve the goals. The goal can be reached by trade-off among mutually exclusive alternatives according to the specific contextual conditions. Therefore, the tree-based structure is adopted to provide feasible solutions with the explanations based on the pruning branches. The sequence of pruning processes can be used to provide the explanations of the inferences and ways to reach the goals, as Explainable AI (XAI). The learning process is based on the pruning branches according to the multi-dimensional contextual conditions. To deep-dive the search, they are composed of time window to determine the temporal perspective, depth of phases for lookahead and decision criteria to prune branches. The goal depends on the policy of the pruning branches, which can be dynamically changed by configured situation with the specific multi-dimensional contextual conditions at a particular moment. The explanation is represented by the chosen episode among the decision alternatives according to configured situations. In this research, MEL adopts the tree-based learning model to provide explanation for the goal derived with specific conditions. Therefore, as an example of mutually exclusive problems, employment process is proposed to demonstrate the decision-making process of how to reach the goal and explanation by the pruning branches. Finally, further study is discussed to verify the effectiveness of MEL with experiments.

GOMS model is a cognitive modeling method of human performance based on Goal, Operators, Methods, Selection rules. GOMS model was originally designed for desktop environment so that it is difficult for GOMS model to be implemented into the mobile environment. In addition, GOMS model would be inaccurate because the original GOMS model was based on serial processing, excluding one of most important human information processing characteristics, parallel processing. Therefore this study was designed to propose a modified GOMS model including mobile computing and parallel processing. In order to encompass mobile environment, an operator of 'look for' was divided into 'visual move to' and 'recognize' whereas 'point to' and 'click' were combined into 'tab.' The results showed that newly introduced operators were necessary to estimate more accurate mobile computing behaviors. In conclusion, modified-GOMS model could predict human performance more accurately than the original GOMS model in the mobile computing environment.

The Korea ministry of land, infrastructure and transport set the goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector by 34.3% relative to the business as usual scenario by 2020. In order to achieve this goal, support is being given to education and information regarding eco-driving. As a practical measure, however, a vehicle control strategy for decreasing fuel consumptions and emissions is necessary. Therefore, this paper presents an optimized driving model in order to decrease fuel consumption. Scenarios were established by driving mode. The speed profile for each scenario applied to Comprehensive Modal Emission Model and then each fuel consumption was estimated. Scenarios and speed variation with the least fuel consumption were derived by comparing the fuel consumptions of scenarios. The optimized driving model was developed by the derived the results. The speed profiles of general driver were collected by field test. The speed profile of the developed model and the speed profile of general driver were compared and then fuel consumptions for each speed profile were analyzed. The fuel consumptions for optimized driving were decreased by an average of 11.8%.

In this paper, we propose a novel deep neural network model for Vision-and-Language Navigation (VLN) named LVLN (Landmark-based VLN). In addition to both visual features extracted from input images and linguistic features extracted from the natural language instructions, this model makes use of information about places and landmark objects detected from images. The model also applies a context-based attention mechanism in order to associate each entity mentioned in the instruction, the corresponding region of interest (ROI) in the image, and the corresponding place and landmark object detected from the image with each other. Moreover, in order to improve the success rate of arriving the target goal, the model adopts a progress monitor module for checking substantial approach to the target goal. Conducting experiments with the Matterport3D simulator and the Room-to-Room (R2R) benchmark dataset, we demonstrate high performance of the proposed model.

This study aims to identify the current status of the village citizen archivist training program (hereinafter "training program") and propose a competency-based training program operational model to improve it. With the steadily increasing number of training programs, revitalizing programs and systemizing operations become imperative. This study focuses on achieving the program's goals, the competence of village citizen archivists, and the continuity of training programs and archiving activities. To this end, the meaning and role of village citizen archivists were investigated through domestic and international literature. Moreover, the current status of training programs from 2015 to 2023 was identified, and the implications of literature reviews and case studies were verified through interviews with the program educators. The implications of the interview were summarized as the program operational plan for each goal, the competence of village citizen archivists, and the development plan, thereby being reflected in the operational model. The competency-based education program operational model was proposed to incorporate a model structure, design principles, curricular modules for each goal, and considerations for each stage of education program operation.
