  • Recently, there were not enough studies regarding the mix adjustment and changes of normal physical properties of slump flow type concrete in domestically. Therefore in this paper, it is aimed securing the fundamental data about flow its mix design method by experimental research. The experiment includes the adjustment of the way for slump flow type concrete by the variation of size of coarse aggregate. In the result, it is advisable raising the ratio of fine aggregate and unit water amount by considering the specific surface when increasing the Gmax size.

  • On the new medical system separating the prescription and dispensing of the drug, the qualification of pharmacist in substitution of prescribed medicine was restricted, except bioequivalence-certified drugs. Also, Korean Food and Drug Association(KFDA) revised the bioequivalence regulation on August, 2001 Among many changes from old guideline, impressive one is the statistical consideration. Specially, to estimate and analyze bioequivalence measures, AUC and $C_{max}$, the log-transformed model is recommended and the equivalence interval is modified from $\pm$20 rule to [In(0.8),In(1.25)] one. This meaningful act is very hope-for because it is statistically reasonable and is agreed with worldwide bioequivalence guideline, including USA, EU, Japan and Canada. In this paper, we introduce the new regulation of assessing bioequivalence, announced at August, 2001, mainly on statistical view points. Key points for the new regulation are discussed and the minimum sample size based on simulation studies are proposed.

  • Coarse granular geomaterials containing large gravels are broadly used for construction of large geotechnical systems such as dams, levees, railways and backfills. It is necessary to evaluate deformation characteristics of these materials for dynamic analysis, e.g. seismic design. This study presents evaluation of dynamic deformation characteristics of coarse materials using large scale resonant column testing apparatus, which uses specimens with 200 mm in diameter and 400 mm in height, and the effects of gradation characteristics on maximum shear modulus, shear modulus reduction curve and damping characteristics were investigated. From experimental study using rock-fill materials for a dam, we could see that the largest or mean particle size affects the shape of shear modulus reduction curve. When the specimens are prepared under the same conditions for maximum particle size, the coefficient of uniformity affects the confining stress exponent of maximum shear modulus. It could be concluded that the maximum particle size is an factor which affects shear modulus reduction curve, and that the coefficient of uniformity is for small strain shear modulus, especially for the sensitivity to confining stress.
