The recent global financial crisis has highlighted the importance of international monetary and financial system reform. The current system is deemed to be no longer adequate to meet the needs of a complex, integrated world economy. With regards to the reform of the international monetary system, there have been various proposals both in demand and supply sides. These include proposals to build a stronger global financial safety net, to diversify the supply of international reserve currency and so on. These proposals face trade-offs between desirability and political feasibility. Given this situation, a practical transition would be to strengthen policy coordination among the major economies and to reform the International Monetary Fund. The success on both fronts depends heavily on global economic governance reform and the role of the G20. Increased status and representation of Asian countries in the G20 give both privileges and responsibilities to Asians. To meet these responsibilities, Asians should put forth greater efforts to develop their intellectual leadership in global economic issues through creating new forum and institutions.

Much of the behavior of doctors reflects the influences from the social, cultural, historical, and economic environment of the time. Therefore, it is very important for future doctors to understand the practice environment in an ever changing world. Traditionally, doctors' competence has been based on the doctor-patient relationship. However, the social practice of medicine in the contemporary era asks future doctors to have social competencies, which often are defined as non-clinical competencies. As a global project, the World Federation for Medical Education has urged every country to define the future role of doctors to encompass global roles based on the duty toward and value of clinical as well as non-clinical competencies. In the past four years, Korean medical professional societies have coordinated to set forth the global role of Korean doctors. Five domains of clinical competence, professionalism, social accountability, communication and collaboration, and education and research have been chosen. The current version of the "global role of Korean doctors" can be used not only for the common objectives of medical education, but also for translating into the competencies of doctors that can be achieved through life-long learning. If we all want to improve medical education in order to produce more qualified and competent doctors as the public desires, then it may be the most urgent task to produce doctors who are equipped with social competencies to persuade, negotiate, and engage in constructive dialogues with society for better health care for a better society.

In this research, we have carried out an experiment with grade 10 students. Students will be choosing their roles and creating their own script in relation to the environmental problems such as the seriousness of global wanning and the mutation of ecosystem. Throughout this process, they will come up with a solution to the problem In addition, we will assess students' knowledge achievement as well as the changes in attitudes toward environment, and analyze whether the role-play method of education is efficient or not. According to the research result, we have confirmed that the method of role-play as a education tool was more efficient than the traditional lecturing method. Students experienced higher rate of knowledge acquisition and more optimistic effects on their attitudes toward the mutation of ecosystem and also the seriousness of the global wanning. Students also pointed out in the interview that the role-play allowed them to share their thoughts with other classmates, which were not carried out frequently in the traditional education system In addition, each member of groups could participate cooperatively with teammates, which ultimately helped them to develop scientific and introspective ways of thinking.

This study analyzes global inflation synchronization and derives policy implications for the Korean economy. Unlike previous studies that assume a single global inflation factor, this study investigates if inflation in Korea can be explained further by other global inflation factors. Our principal component analysis provides three principal components for global inflation that are linked to the Korea inflation rate - the first component is closely related to OECD inflation, and the second and third components reflect China's inflation. This study empirically demonstrates via in-sample fitting and out-of-sample forecasting that the three principal components of global inflation play a significant role in explaining and predicting Korean inflation in the short-term, while their role is limited in the mid-term. Domestic macroeconomic variables are found to be more important for the mid-term movements of the Korean inflation rate. The empirical results here suggest that the Bank of Korea should focus more on domestic economic conditions than on global inflation when implementing monetary policy because global factors are likely to be already reflected in domestic macro-variables in the mid-term.

The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze whether the influence of foreign investors from the monitoring role in Korean capital market is observed differently in accordance with the global financial crisis situation. We collected a total of 2,919 firm data from 2003 to 2015 and performed the empirical tests between foreign investor ownership and firms' cost of equity capital separately according to the situation of the global financial crisis. From the empirical results, foreign investors in general were playing a positive function in the Korean capital market by effectively performing the monitoring role for companies. However, we observed that their monitoring role is not effectively performed when the risk level of capital market is maximized, such as during the global financial crisis. The study suggested that the influence of foreign investors may vary depending on the level of risk in the capital market, which is expected to contribute to the market participants and academia.

Purpose: This paper aimed to examine the ethical considerations that are the basis for many functions in the healthcare field. The key ethical values in global health, as well as future considerations imperative to this area, were observed. Research design, data and methodology: The current study utilized the past literature studies that were examined in the field of global health. An overview of the role of ethics in the healthcare field, as well as important considerations that needed to be taken into account in order to provide advancements in this area, were investigated. Results: Ethics are an important set of principles that guides humankind into the right conduct or action to better society and each other. Ethical values are one of the pinnacle points for any healthcare provider, as healthcare is not only considered from the aspect of patient health and well-being, but also in its role of keeping ethical guidelines to achieve the best possible care for a patient. Conclusions: A comprehensive understanding of healthcare is needed in order to tackle next generational challenges in global health. These ethical considerations will inevitably play a significant role in harnessing the patient-healthcare professional relationships as well as care for the shortening of a global disparity on healthcare.

This study examined the determinants of distributor stress and organizational effectiveness in a global distribution industry. This study suggested distributors' role factors and mindfulness as the key determinants of their stress and organizational effectiveness. Employees' role factors were classified into three factors: role ambiguity, role conflict, and role overload. Organizational effectiveness was classified into three factors: job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intention. Data were collected from 202 distributors in a global distribution industry. Results indicated that role conflict and role overload were significantly, positively related to distributors' stress, and that role ambiguity and mindfulness were negatively related to their stress. Results also indicated that role ambiguity was negatively related to job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and that role conflict and role overload were positively related to turnover intention. Finally, role overload was positively related to job satisfaction and organizational commitment and mindfulness was positively related to job satisfaction.

Globalization has diversified ethnic composition thus increased the risk of conflicts and socio-political instability in global cities. However, still the status of community facility in a global city is unclear despite its critical role to build sustainable community in global era. In Seoul, as a reaction of globalization, 19 community facilities known as the 'Seoul Global Center' have been established since 2007 by Seoul Metropolitan Government. These facilities have started to provide basic foreigner services but been transformed to foreigner service hub with multiple functions in terms of a living, a business, a labour, etc. This study explores the role of the community facility for foreigners by using the Seoul Global Center as a case study, conducting a site observation, an interview(13 staff) and a questionnaire(148 visitors). The findings are the community facility functions as a 'global platform' in forms of a policy tool for implementing the urban globalization strategy, a mediator connecting foreign migrants with local communities, an applicant for successful settlement of foreign residents, an incubator that grows human and social capital, and a base for collecting and aggregating information on foreign migrants and forming new local identities.

This study aims to analyze the effects of the characteristics of startups and the role of accelerators on internationalization performance. To achieve this purpose, we collected data from the management of 180 startups promoting overseas expansion. As a result of empirical analysis, it was confirmed that among the characteristics of startups, innovativeness, learning orientation, and global orientation had a significant effect on internationalization performance. In addition, it was confirmed that the role of the accelerator has a positive effect on the internationalization performance.

Dominant approaches to designing morally capable robots have been mainly based on rule-based ethical frameworks such as deontology and consequentialism. These approaches have encountered both philosophical and computational limitations. They often struggle to accommodate remarkably diverse, unstable, and complex contexts of human-robot interaction. Roboticists and philosophers have recently been exploring underrepresented ethical traditions such as virtuous, role-based, and relational ethical frameworks for designing morally capable robots. This paper employs the lens of ethical pluralism to examine the notion of role-based morality in the global context and discuss how such cross-cultural analysis of role ethics can inform the design of morally competent robots. In doing so, it first provides a concise introduction to ethical pluralism and how it has been employed as a method to interpret issues in computer and information ethics. Second, it reviews specific schools of thought in Western ethics that derive morality from role-based obligations. Third, it presents a more recent effort in Confucianism to reconceptualize Confucian ethics as a role-based ethic. This paper then compares the shared norms and irreducible differences between Western and Eastern approaches to role ethics. Finally, it discusses how such examination of pluralist views of role ethics across cultures can be conducive to the design of morally capable robots sensitive to diverse value systems in the global context.
