Rolls-Royce is a global company producing advanced power systems for use on land, at sea and in the air. In order to develop competitive products and services, Rolls-Royce invests in technology, infrastructure and capability with much of the research carried out in a global network of University Technology Centres, such as the UTC in Thermal management at Pusan National University. Heat exchangers and thermal management play a critical role in today's gas turbine engines, maintaining the fuel and oil temperatures within the correct operational range. Future products are likely to place an increased duty on the thermal management system and thus require advances in heat exchanger design, installation and manufacturing. Heat exchangers further have the potential to play a vital role in Advanced Cycle Gas Turbine products. The Intercooled and recuperated WR21 marine gas turbine engine recently entered service with the Royal Navy and is delivering very attractive fuel burn in service. The development of an advanced cycle aero-engine is a significantly greater challenge, requiring better understanding of compact and light weight heat exchanger surfaces, novel installations and ducting systems and may required novel manufacturing techniques to achieve the volume, weight and cost necessary to realise a viable advanced cycle gas turbine aero-engine.

This study focuses on investigating the importance of managing greenhouse gas emissions from global energy consumption, specifically examining domestic targets for clean hydrogen production. Using life cycle assessment, we evaluated reductions in global warming potential and assessed the carbon neutrality contribution of the domestic hydrogen sector. Transitioning from brown or grey hydrogen to blue or green hydrogen can significantly reduce emissions, potentially lowering CO2 equivalent levels by 2030 and 2050. These research findings underscore the effectiveness of clean hydrogen as an energy management strategy and offer valuable insights for technology development.
Because LRT project is large infrastructure projects investing enormous budget and required continuous maintenance after construction, it is the global trend to perform business in terms of life-cycle from the initial construction, operation to disposal. It is very important LRT to manage interfaces efficiently and to integrate vehicle, civil, track, electricity, communications, signals, operations, facilities organically. Global companies of the railway developed countries including Europe are getting orders a large rail project and preempting the world market based on engineering technology. But, domestic LRT systems engineering is the subcontracting level to the lack of practical skills and experience. Thus, technology securement is very urgent for the independence of systems engineering technology and overseas advance based turnkey. In this paper, we are going to study applicable systems engineering technology focusing on LRT system based on international standard ISO/IEC 15288.
The remote sensing technique of measuring the magnetic field was applied first to sunspots by Hale (1908). Later Babcock (1961) showed that the solar surface magnetic field on a global scale is a dipole in first-order approximation and that this dipole field reverses once every solar cycle. The Wilcox Solar Observatory (WSO) supplies the spherical harmonics coefficients of the solar corona magnetic field of each Carrington Rotation, calculated based on the remotely-sensed photospheric magnetic field of the solar surface. To infer the internal current system producing the global solar coronal magnetic field structure and evolution of the Sun, we calculate the multipole components of the solar magnetic field using the WSO data from 1976 to 2019. The prominent cycle components over the last 4 solar activity cycles are axis-symmetric fields of the dipole and octupole. This implies that the current inversion driving the solar magnetic field reversal originates from the equatorial region and spreads to the whole globe. Thus, a more accurate solar dynamo model must include an explanation of the origin and evolution of such solar internal current dynamics.

In this study, LCA(Life Cycle Assessment) on 'Saemangum CSO Project' was carried out to evaluate environmental impact which occurred during the construction and operation periods and the potential environmental impact reduction was analyzed by comparing production and reduction level of pollution loads. LCA was conducted out according to the procedure of ISO14040 which suggested Goal and Scope Definition, Life Cycle Inventory Analysis, Life Cycle Impact Assessment and Interpretation. In the Goal and Scope Definition, the functional unit was 1 m3 of CSO, the system boundary was construction and operation phases, and the operation period was 20 years. For the data collection and inventory analysis, input energies and materials from civil, architecture, mechanical and electric fields are collected from design sheet but the landscape architecture field is excepted. LCIA(Life Cycle Impact Assessment) was performed following the procedure of Eco-Labelling Type III under 6 categories which were resource depletion, eutrophication, global warming, ozone-layer destruction, and photochemical oxide formation. In the result of LCA, 83.4% of environmental impact occurred in the construction phase and 16.6% in the operation phase. Especially 78% of environmental impact occurred in civil works. The Global warming category showed the highest contribution level in the environmental impact categories. For the analysis on potential environmental impact reduction, the reduction and increased of environmental impact which occurred on construction and operation phases were compared. In the case of considering only the operation phase, the result of the comparison showed that 78% of environmental impact is reduced. On the other hand, when considering both the construction and operation phases, 50% of environmental impact is increase. Therefore, this study showed that eco-friendly material and construction method should be used for reduction of environmental impact during life cycle, and it is strongly necessary to develop technology and skills to reduce environmental impact such as renewable energies.
Polo-like kinase-1 (Plk1) belongs to a family of serine-threonine kinases and plays a critical role in mitotic progression. Plk1 involves in the initiation of mitosis, centrosome maturation, bipolar spindle formation, and cytokinesis, well-reported as traditional functions of Plk1. In this review, we discuss the role of Plk1 during DNA damage response beyond the functions in mitotsis. When DNA is damaged in cells under various stress conditions, the checkpoint mechanism is activated to allow cells to have enough time for repair. When damage is repaired, cells progress continuously their division, which is called checkpoint recovery. If damage is too severe to repair, cells undergo apoptotic pathway. If damage is not completely repaired, cells undergo a process called checkpoint adaptation, and resume cell division cycle with damaged DNA. Plk1 targets and regulates many key factors in the process of damage response, and we deal with these subjects in this review.
Climate change is rapidly getting worse. In Korea, the average temperature has increased by $1.5^{\circ}C$ over the last 100 years. In terms of global warming, it causes regional climate change, extreme weather phenomena and change of cultivated area. moreover, Global Warming brings both direct and indirect damage to agricultural cultivation. Global warming was accelerated by the greenhouse gas emissions which is by industry. In addition, Greenhouse gas emissions are increasing. In agriculture Thus we need to figure out how to analyze and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and its cause. This study assumes that it is the introduction of the bio-energy using compost to facility house and it analyzes that there is the difference between in the future in utilizing compost due to the introduction of bio-energy facility houses; Environmental effect and Environmental effect which are generally used. This research is a previous step for resource-circulating, farming, utilizing a variety of by-products of the agricultural sector as an environmental assessment studies for the future completion of resource-circulating agriculture.

In a resource-limited wireless communication environment, various approaches to meet the ever growing application requirements in an efficient and transparent manner, are being researched and developed. Amongst many approaches, cross layer technique is by far one of the significant contributions that has undoubtedly revolutionized the way conventional layered architecture is perceived. In this paper, we propose a Universal Cross Layer Framework based on vertical layer architecture. The primary contribution of this paper is the functional architecture of the vertical layer which is primarily responsible for cross layer interaction management and optimization. The second contribution is the use of optimization cycle that comprises awareness parameters collection, mapping, classification and the analysis phases. The third contribution of the paper is the decomposition of the parameters into local and global network perspective for opportunistic optimization. Finally, we have shown through simulations how parameters' variations can represent local and global views of the network and how we can set local and global thresholds to perform opportunistic optimization.
As the seriousness of the global environment is gaining our attention recently, studies on application of LCA(Life Cycle Assessment) to ship are being carried out dynamically in various industrial fields. This study was carried out to examine the application of LCA to ships and was focused on the inventory analysis on global warming gas from merchant cargo ships. Two merchant cargo ships were adopted as ship models. Actual voyage data of at last several years was used to analysis the ship's exhaust gas inventory. The analysis shows how many weight of global warming gas being exhausted to transport 1 ton of each cargo per 1 nautical mile.

Environmental problems like global warming have now become important issues that should be considered in all industries, including construction. In South Korea, many studies have been conducted to achieve the government's goals of reduction in environmental impacts. However, the research on buildings has only focused on CO2 emission as a research target despite the fact that other environmental impacts resulting from ozone depletion and acidification should also be considered, in addition to global warming. In this regard, this study attempted to propose assessment criteria and methods to evaluate the environmental performance of the structures from various aspects. The environmental impact category can be divided into global impacts, regional impacts, and local impacts. First, global impacts include global warming, ozone layer depletion, and abiotic resource depletion, while regional impacts include acidification, eutrophication, and photochemical oxidation. In addition, noise and vibration occurring in the building construction phase are defined as local impacts. The evaluation methods on the eight environmental impacts will be proposed after analyzing existing studies, and the methods representing each environmental load as monetary value will be presented. The methods presented in this study will present benefits that can be obtained through green buildings with a clear quantitative assessment on structures. Ultimately, it is expected that if the effects of green buildings are clearly presented through the findings of this study, the greening of structures will be actively expanded.
