  • The Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) is a ground-based aircraft navigation system and is considered as an infrastructure that ensures resilient aircraft navigation capability during the event of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) outage. The main problem of DME as a GNSS back up is a poor positioning accuracy that often reaches over 100 m. In this paper, a novel approach of applying deep reinforcement learning to a DME pulse design is introduced to improve the DME distance measuring accuracy. This method is designed to develop multipath-resistant DME pulses that comply with current DME specifications. In the research, a Markov Decision Process (MDP) for DME pulse design is set using pulse shape requirements and a timing error. Based on the designed MDP, we created an Environment called PulseEnv, which allows the agent representing a DME pulse shape to explore continuous space using the Soft Actor Critical (SAC) reinforcement learning algorithm.

  • The accuracy of global navigation satellite system(GNSS) positioning has been studied during the last decades. Early GPS software was developed as monolithic tool in which all functions packed in the same software. But, these GPS software have the problems of the high cost of constructing system. close system architecture and the reusability. And there is a lack of interoperability between them because most of them have their own unique data format according to their application fields. In this paper, we have introduced requirements for design and specifications based on business process for the GPS system. commonly used to extract components from the requirements of the GPS business-based development process is presented. These components extracted by the process can be used to assemble components only. In particular, applications for developers to add features specific case without affecting the other components that can be modify the component.

  • Design optimization process and results of Loop Heat Pipe(LHP) using Tabu Search have been presented in this study. An objective of optimization is to reduce a mass of the LHP with satisfying operating temperature of a Lithium Ion battery onboard an aircraft. The battery is assumed to be used as power supply of air borne high energy laser system because of its high specific energy. The analytical models are based on a steady state mathematical model and the design optimization is performed using a Meta Model and Tabu Search. As an optimization results, the Tabu search algorithm guarantees global optimum with small computation time. Due to searching by random numbers, initial value is dominant factor to search global optimum. The optimization process could reduce the mass of the LHP which express the same performance as an published LHP.

  • This research is to analyze ethics in fashion design for more valuable and sustainable human life against the increasing alienation of the human being, the global ecological crisis resulted from contemporary consumption society. I expect that it can be helpful to plan ethical fashion design practice more effectively. For this, the documentary study and practical case study have been executed. The results are as follows. The ethics in design can be defined as the responsibility to reform the social, environmental problem of consumptive design, to sustain together without human alienation, environment disruption and to do social good for total human being ultimately. The ethical design practice means to suggest solutions to problems of human rights and environment and to act willingly. Based on this, ethical fashion design appeared as responsible design solution which has two directions. One is the fashion design for coexistence and sharing, including the design for all which considers even underprivileged minority, the design to promote public issues as well as to donate some profits. The other is the eco fashion design for sustainable environment, including eco-friendly design which is reductive and slow in whole design process, the design to inform the seriousness of environmental crisis as well as to donate some profits. The last one of the most important ethical responsibility as fashion designer is to abide by vocational ethics, that is, the prohibition of design piracy.

  • Floating offshore structures should be designed by considering the most extreme environmental loadings which may be encountered in their design life. The most severe loading on a wave-offshore wind hybrid power generation system is wave loads. The principal parameters of wave loads are wave length, wave height and wave direction. The wave loads have different effects on the structural behavior characteristic depending on the combination of wave parameters. Therefore, the process of investigation for critical loads based on the individual wave loading parameter is need. Namely, the equivalent design wave should be derived by finding the wave condition which generates the maximum stress in entire wave conditions. Through a series of analysis, an equivalent regular wave height can be obtained which generates the same amount of the hydrodynamic loads as calculated in the response analysis. The aim of this study is the determination of equivalent design wave regarding to characteristic global hydrodynamic responses for wave-offshore wind hybrid power generation system. It will be utilized in the global structural response analysis subjected to selected design waves and this study also includes an application of global structural analysis.

  • The increasing dynamic and distributed nature of a business and manufacturing environment makes it hard to collaborate between design and manufacturing parties. The seamless collaboration necessitates a manufacturing quote service (MQS) that delivers manufacturing quotes timely for designer's requests. After envisioning a SOA-inherited collaboration framework, the paper details MQS' functionalities, and syntax and semantics of collaboration messages (i.e., RFQ and manufacturing quote). The MQS is implemented as a Web Service so as to be accessible by designers. For each RFQ, the MQS adaptively generates a responding manufacturing quote by using the DPM library and real-time shop status information. The paper also presents an evolution process that shows the whole process of RQF generation from given product design data. The proposed framework enabled partners to exchange engineering data rapidly and adaptively during the dynamic collaboration, and also increased the benefits of distributed and global production.

  • With the positive features of simulated annealing algorithms such as simplicity of the algorithm and the possibility of finding global optimum solution, SA algorithm has been widely applied to structural optimization problems. However, the algorithms are far from practical applications in structural design or optimization of building structures due to requirement of a large number of iterations and dependency on cooling schedule and stopping criteria. In this paper, with the modification of annealing process and stopping criteria, a MSA algorithm is presented in the form of two phase annealing process for optimal seismic design of braced structures. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been illustrated in detail.

  • In this paper, A tag antenna structure for RFID application with resonant frequency of 920MHz is proposed using the meander line technique and Evolution Strategy. Miniaturization structure design for a tag antenna is performed by structure combining the half-wave dipole with a meander line. To achieve this, an interface program between a commercial EM analysis tool and the optimal design program is made for implementing the evolution strategy technique that seeks a global optimum of the objective function through the iterative design process consisting of variation and reproduction. The optimized tag antenna size is 63mm ${\times}$ 15mm ${\times}$ 1mm. And the proposed antenna is realized on FR-4 substrate (${\epsilon}_r=4.4$, $tna{\delta}=0.02$).

  • A robust multi-fidelity optimization methodology has been developed, focusing on efficiently handling industrial runner design of hydraulic Francis turbines. The computational task is split between low- and high-fidelity phases in order to properly balance the CFD cost and required accuracy in different design stages. In the low-fidelity phase, a physics-based surrogate optimization loop manages a large number of iterative optimization evaluations. Two derivative-free optimization methods use an inviscid flow solver as a physics-based surrogate to obtain the main characteristics of a good design in a relatively fast iterative process. The case study of a runner design for a low-head Francis turbine indicates advantages of integrating two derivative-free optimization algorithms with different local- and global search capabilities.

  • Lightweight body can cause a low stiffness due to the decrease of panel thickness and reinforcing member. The other way, high stiffness body demands an increase of mass. Front pillar section area is decreased due to driver's visual field. Global vehicle stiffness is affected by stiffness distribution ratio between upper part and lower part at side body structure. This paper will describe a process used to evaluate the stiffness distribution ratio based on research of strain energy analysis of the tip rotation method. In addition, optimum design schemes are presented for high stiffness and lightweight body structure considering the investigated stiffness distribution ratio. In this way the designer will be aided by a defined design guide and a set of supporting tool to help him work towards a good design
