A Study on Conceptual Structural Design of Wing for a Small Scale WIG Craft Using Carbon/Epoxy and Foam Sandwich Composite Structure

  • This present study provides the structural design and analysis of main wing, horizontal tail and control surface of a small scale WIG (Wing-in-Ground Effect) craft which has been developed as a future high speed maritime transportation system of Korea. Weight saving as well as structural stability could be achieved by using the skin.spar.foam sandwich and carbon/epoxy composite material. Through sequential design modifications and numerical structural analysis using commercial FEM code PATRAN/NASTRAN, the final design structural features to meet the final design goal such as the system target weight, structural safety and stability were obtained. In addition, joint structures such as insert bolts for joining the wing with the fuselage and lugs for joining the control surface to the wing were designed by considering easy assembling as well as more than 20 years service life.

  • Our amplifier using an all optical method and a fixed GFF achieved automatic gain flatness throughput the C-band without any NF degradation, and simultaneously achieved a constant 25 dB gain, while input signals were varied between one channel and forty WDM channels. When thirty nine channels were added and dropped, the transient gain variation of the survival channel was not greater than the steady-state gain variation, and its wavelength dependency was negligible.

  • This paper proposes a new sensorless speed control scheme of induction motor using Model Reference Adaptive Control and Direct Torque Control System. The Model Reference Adaptive Control System is based on the comparison between the outputs of Reference Model and Adjustable Model. The error between the estimated quantities obtained by the two models is used to drive a suitable adaptation mechanism which generates the estimated rotor speed for the Adjustable Model. And the Direct Torque Control scheme controls torque and flux by restricting the flux and torque errors within respective hysteresis bands, and motor torque and flux are controlled by the stator voltage space vector using optimum inverter switching table. The simulation results of proposed method indicate good speed responses from the low speed range to the high, and also show favorable characteristics of load operation.

  • This paper describes sensorless speed control of brushless DC motors by using direct torque control. Direct torque control offers fast torque response, robust specification of parameter changes, and lower hardware and processing costs compared to vector-controlled drives. In this paper, the current error compensation method is applied to the sensorless speed control of a brushless DC motor. Through this control technique, the controlled stator voltage is applied to the brushless DC motor such that the error between the stator currents in the mathematical model and the actual motor can be forced to decay to zero as time proceeds, and therefore, the motor speed approaches the setting value. This paper discusses the composition of the controller, which can carry out robust speed control without any proportional-integral (PI) controllers. The simulation results show that the control system has good dynamic speed and load responses at wide ranges of speed.

  • 16 chicken isolates and four clinical isolates of VanB-vanA incongruent vancomycinresistant Enterococcus faecium strains without vanS were isolated in 1999. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis revealed only a peripheral relationship between the chicken isolates and clinical isolates, but suggested clonal spread in the chicken isolates.

  • A new powdery mildew resistant squash (Cucurbita moschata Duch.) 'Miso' was bred from a cross between powdery mildew resistant true variety 'Sangol' and powdery mildew susceptible inbred line 'Seoulmadi' at National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS). The 'Miso' variety was vigorous and highly resistant to powdery mildew. It showed white green fruit color. The variety yielded 21.3MT/ha which is 52% more than control variety.

  • The Direct Torque Control[DTC] controls torque and flux by restricting the flux and torque errors within respective hysteresis bands, and motor torque and flux are controlled by the stator voltage space vector using optimum inverter switching table. And the Current Error Compensation method is on the basis of compensating current difference between the induction motor and its numerical model, in which the identical stator voltage is supplied for both the actual motor and the model so that the gaps between stator currents of the two can be forced to decay to zero as time proceeds. Consequently, the rotor speed approaches to the model speed, namely, setting value and the system can control motor speed precisely. This paper proposes a new sensorless speed control of induction motor using DTC and Current Error Compensation, which requires neither shaft encoder, speed estimator nor PI controllers. And through computer simulation, confirm effectiveness of proposed method.

  • Harmonics (or distortion in wave form) has always existed in electrical power systems. It is harmless as long as its level is not substantial. However, with the recent rapid advancement of power electronics technology, so-called nonlinear loads, such as variable frequency drives for motor power/speed control, are increasingly finding their way to shipboard or offshore applications. In this paper a new approach to direct torque control (DTC) of induction motor drive is presented. In comparison with the conventional DTC methods the inverter switching frequency is constant and is dramatically increased, requiring neither any increase of the sampling frequency, nor any high frequency dither signal. The well-developed space vector modulation technique is applied to inverter control in the proposed DTC-based induction motor drive system, thereby dramatically reducing the current harmonics. As compared to the existing DTC approach with constant inverter switching frequency, the presented new approach does not invoke any concept of deadbeat control, thereby dramatically reducing the computations.

The effect of newly designed toothbrush on plaque control, treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis (체스형의 칫솔모 형태가 치태 및 치은염, 치주낭에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study investigate the effect of newly designed toothbrush(Chess tip : experimental group), conventional toothbrush(control group) on plaque control, gingivitis, and periodontitis. The results of 4weeks post-research by clinical comparison between the two groups are as follows. 1. In analysis of plaque index between groups there was Significant difference in the experimental group at 2,4 week. 2. In analysis of gingival index between groups there was significant difference in the experimental group at 1,2,4 week. 3. Both experimental group and control group showed decrease in periodontal pocket depth after 4week, but there was significant difference in the experimental group at 4 week. 4. Both experimental group and control group showed decrease in bleeding on probing after 4week, but there was significant difference in the experimental group at 4 week. These results indicate that newly designed toothbrush has beneficial effects as additional aid of mechanical treatment at the point of periodontal pocket, plaque control, and bleeding on probing.
