  • A commercialized biobased and biodegradable poly(lactic acid)(PLA) containing the functional monomer of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) was chemically modified using reactive extrusion to enhance its melt strength. Modified PLAs were prepared with various contents of GMA and initiator, and were characterized by observing their gel fraction, thermal properties, melt viscoelasticity and biodegradability. The complex viscosity and storage modulus of chemically modified PLA with the initiator alone was increased by addition of initiator and were more increased in the presence of GMA. There was a optimum content of GMA showing the maximum complex viscosity with the amount of initiator. The biodegradebility of modified PLA was slightly decreased by addition of GMA.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the difference in chewing ability according to the malocclusion and orthodontic treatment for the university students who are adults and consider the effect of the malocclusion and orthodontic treatment on chewing ability. Methods: This study conducted the survey for 400 students of the two universities located in Daegu, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and except for the poor or erroneous surveys among 400 survey copies of the participants, total 363(90.75%) survey copies were used for the study analysis. Results: The total result of chewing ability for the food showed that middle-class students had higher chewing ability than high-class students and the students who didn't get orthodontic treatment had higher chewing ability than the students who are getting orthodontic treatment now. In the chewing ability for various kinds foods, in case of young radish kimchi, the result showed that the students who have a little crowding or normal level of teeth or normal teeth has higher chewing ability than the students who have severe crowding level of teeth, and in case of the foods including kkakdugi or galbi, the result showed that the students who have normal teeth location or the 3rd level malocclusion have higher chewing ability statistically significantly than the students who have the 2nd malocclusion. Conclusion: For the chewing ability, the middle-class students in the home economic power showed significantly higher chewing ability than the high-class students in the home economic power, and the students who didn't get any orthodontic treatment showed higher chewing ability statistically significantly than the students who are getting orthodontic treatment now.

  • Purpose: The study is to discover the relationship between malocclusion, which is known to cause temporomandibular disorder, and temporomandibular disorder and is aimed at college students who have retained their natural teeth. Methods: The study was aimed at 500 college students at two colleges located in Gyeongsangbuk-do and Daegu metropolitan city and survey research was conducted in order to discover any relationship between malocclusion and temporomandibular disorder. After excluding copies with insincere answers or errors out of the 500 copies of the questionnaire, the study used a total of 435 copies (87%) for research and analysis. Results: Females showed a prevalence of temporomandibular joint clicking and temporomandibular joint pain, and students who had crowding showed a high prevalence of temporomandibular joint pain, temporomandibular joint clicking, and trismus. Students whose occlusal condition was not good demonstrated a high prevalence of temporomandibular joint pain, temporomandibular joint clicking, and trismus. Students who had maxillary protrusion showed a prevalence of temporomandibular joint clicking and trimus, whereas students who had mandibular protrusion showed a high prevalence of temporomandibular joint clicking. Conclusion: Students whose dental condition was crowding and students whose occlusal condition was not good exhibited a high prevalence of three types of symptoms of temporomandibular disorder. Meanwhile student who had maxillary protrusion showed a high prevalence of temporomandibular joint clicking and trismus, while students who had mandibular protrusion showed a prevalence of temporomandibular joint clicking.

  • Purpose : The Purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of taping and AMCT(activator methods chiropractic technique) on the pain and grip strength in patients with lateral epicondylitis. Methods : To study divided of three groups. Taping groups were apply to taping was attached from wrist joint to elbow joint lateral epicondly after maximun flexion. AMCT application was contact the posterior aspect of the proximal head of the radius. The line of drive is anterior and inferior. Next, contact the anterior aspect of the lunate by positioning the instrument on the volar aspect of the wrist. The line of drive is straight posterior. combination groups was treated using the taping and AMCT application. Result : 1. The pain was decreased on taping groups, AMCT groups and combination groups of all(p<.05). 2. Power grip was enhanced in taping groups, AMCT and combination groups(p<.05). but taping, AMCT, combination groups was no difference compared with after 1 week therapy(p>.05). 3. Compared with AMCT and taping therapy about pain decreased was AMCT groups better than taping groups(p<.05). 4. Compared with AMCT and taping therapy about power grip was AMCT groups better than taping groups(p<.05). 5. AMCT and combination groups was no difference compared with pain release and power grip after therapy(p>.05). Conclusion : AMCT groups therapy are more effect able than taping therapy for grip strength and pain reduction. Hence, AMCT groups therapy is most effect able for pain reduction with lateral epicondylitis patients.

  • Objectives : In this study, the treatment method for some college students, due to the misuse of non-therapeutic molding technique non-therapeutic procedure is applied in orthodontics or jaw surgery and therapeutic purposes, such as to properly recognize and to investigate whether. Methods : In this study used, 4 questions, the questionnaire general characteristics (such as gender, major, whether the treatment experience and purpose) Orthodontic and knowledge about the jaw surgery (Corrective jaw surgery hope and reason, or jaw surgery benefits, side effects, etc.) 6 items, calibration and recognition jaw surgery on seven items 17 items was constructed. Results : Of the perception of the majors of the respondents according to the presence or absence of a non-therapeutic procedure for calibration or jaw surgery the correct way, and the purpose appeared to know roughly majors and all students majoring statistically significant (p<.001). The degree of recognition for non-therapeutic procedures according to the gender of the respondents' facial aesthetic improvement, and the most common reason, you want to make a non-therapeutic procedure, correction or contrast, I've found that looks supremacist influence on the non-therapeutic procedure or roughly know the correct way, and jaw surgery for the purpose that appeared to be statistically significant (p<.05). Conclusions : Non-therapeutic procedure for the interest and knowledge to promote oral health as well as esthetic improvements to the original non-therapeutic procedure for therapeutic purposes and how to deliver education and it is very important.

  • Purpose: To know the transmittance of light when wearing shading goggles and to protect eyes from blue light emitted from dental scanner when using CAD/CAM works or inducing polymerization reactions of dental resin with curing unit and infrared light occurred when melting Dental precious metal and non-precious metal alloys. Methods: By measuring and comparing the average transmittances of blue light, visible light and infrared ight by using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer analysis measuring instrument, I compared 3 GREEN Color Goggles worn when casting Dental precious metal and non-precious metal alloys, and compared each of YELLOW, ORANGE Color Goggles worn when using Dental CAD/CAM scanners and Light Curing(LED) the Dental resin. Results: In blue light range, YELLOW Color Goggles are more effective than ORANGE Color Goggles. In infrared light range, No.12 Goggles are more effective than No.10 and No.11 Goggles. Conclusion: When wearing blue light shading goggles to avoid harmful blue light occurred in using dental scanner and curing light, and when wearing infrared light shading goggles to avoid harmful infrared light during casting, to avoid the Side Effects like transmittance rate of blue light and infrared light goggles becomes too high to block appropriate amount of harmful light or too low that causing lower image clarity.
