And 45.7% of respondents were satisfied with the harmless of medical gigong. However, 41% were unsatisfied with the low effect of the treatment. Conclusions : Medical gigong treatment need to develop an explanatory model which based on static study. And technically advanced public relations are needed.
Background : Gigong(氣功, Qigong) is one energy-healing intervention used to prevent and cure ailments and to improve health through regular practice. Although Gigong(氣功, Qigong) - neither itself nor its postulated mechanism of action - are within the paradigm of modern Western medical science, effects on the human body could be possible. Objectives : This study aims to review the bibliography, biological responses and therapeutic effects of Gigong. In the process, this review will grasp trends in this field of studies and will direct further researches into the right direction. Method : The computerized Korean databases were searched from their respective inceptions up to January 2008. The search terms used were 'Gi(氣, Qi)', 'Gigong(氣功, Qigong)', 'Doin(導引)', 'Training', 'Bioenergy', 'life nurturing' and random or Korean language terms related to Gigong. Several specialized journals were also manually searched for relevant articles. Result : Since the 1990's, Gigong papers in the Korean Literature is increased. Clinical research studies are among the most control design study. Research subjects are less patient than the general public. The most common treatment disease was Musculo-skeletal disorder Conclusions : The depth study for the each Gigong(氣功, Qigong) is needed. Specifically, I think it should be a clinical studies and qualitative research methods for evaluation are needed.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Doin Gigong Exercise program on HRV in elderly women. This study was one group in a pre-test / post-test desgian with repeated measures. The experimental group of 27 patients were selected through sampling from H-public health center in the P-city. The subjects received Doin Gigong Exercise twice a week for 50 minutes for 12 weeks. All of the subjects were examined on the congnition assessment tool. Prior and post surveys were measured before and after the experiment. Among the stress assessment, RRV tachogram's 'mean RR' was very significantly increased after Qigong Exercise(p<0.01), and the 'mean HRV' was significantly decreased after Qigong Exercise(p<0.05). But the SDNN was not significantly increased after Qigong Exercise. And TP(RRV power's total power) was significantly increased after Qigong Exercise(p<0.01). VLF and HF was significantly increased, and LF was significantly decreased after Qigong Exercise(p<0.05). In the RRV's Phase Plot, RMSSD and SDSD were significantly increased after Qigong Exercise(0.05). As mentioned above; the oriental medicine Qigong Exercise program was identified the effects of the heart rate and anti-stress.
Research studies of Qigong therapy for cure for the past 20 years were reviewed from three different categories: clinical study on human patients, in-vitro study of abnormal cells, and in-vivo study of abnormal cell with Qigong therapy, in an attempt to understand the role Qigong therapy plays in many kinds of disease. There is a lot of evidence suggesting that Qigong therapy has an inhibitory effect on abnormal cell growth, both in vitro and in vivo studies, as well as in clinical observation (often there was room for improvement in these studies and some studies require replication in order to verify their findings). Qigong therapy is an area that is often neglected by mainstream medicine and research, and it should be seriously examined and considered as an important supplement to conventional treatment.
If we can evaluate the training results more appropriately and analyze the psychological changes in more objectively, the training can be more efficient and it can help to solve the problems during the training. This research analyzed the similarity and differences of Yangseng Qigong and psychological skill training's components and measurement methods. Also, the research further studied psychological skill training's measurement method. Results : The measurement type of Yangseng Qigong are Sagong, a record of Sagong, Damgong, IIgi, and Sogyeol. Similarly, the measurement type of psychological skills training are questionnaire, interview, personal profile, and observation of a single subject. Despite the similarities between the measurement type of Yangsaeng Qigong and psychological skills training, unfortunately there are differences in the contents. Thus, If we introduce strengths of each method to the other, we may have better measurement methods. The questionnaire method of psychological skills training is the most commonly used method, because it gives concrete, objective, reliable and highly reproducible results. If we refer to the questionnaire development process in psychological skills training, we can have objective and concrete measurement tool for Yangsaeng Qigong training. In the psychological skills training measurement tool development process, there are 5 stages; test conception, test preparation, test execution, question analysis, and test modification. Furthermore, the requirements for the good survey are reliability, validity, practicality, and cultural appropriateness. Through this study, we reached the conclusion that we need to combine two methods together to develop a better method because Yangsaeng Qigong places importance on comprehensive method and realization while psychological skills training places importance on analytical method and objective evaluation. And It seems that a practical study is needed to resolve the concerete problems of Yansaeng Qigong through these concrete cases.

Background: The consequences of disordered breathing patterns are not only distressing to the patient but also expensive to our health care systems if they are not diagnosed and treated. So we performed this study to investigate clinical significants trough gigong, yoga and hyperventilation in oriental medicine and westen medicine Method: Voluntary control of respiration is one of the main methods of physical and mental training such as meditation, qigong meditation or Yoga. So, this study focuses on breathing in qigong and yoga. This study appreciates a role that a control of respiration has in physical, mental aspects and searches side-effects in qigong and yoga Conclusions: A control of respiration has a function that manages Jung(精), Qi(氣), Shin(神) in Oriental Medicine. It manages Autonomic Nerve system, Endocrine system and induces natural awareness. So Briging the body and mind work through a control of breathing. Breathing pattern disorder has Damum and Qiher pattern in Oriental Medicine pattern. This disease pattern concearnes ATP metabolism. Qiher is concearned with a mitochondria disorder and Damum is concearned with a products of lactate. we guess that Lactate analysis may be utilized as a diagonostic criteria of Breathing pattern disorder. After this, It needs a study that Lactate analysis is concearned with Breathing pattern disorder as Damum pattern. Result: A control of respiration is related not only breathing but also spiritual and physical state. Joo-hwa-ip-ma as Breathing pattern disorder is smiliar to hyperventilation. HVS is patternated Damum and Qi-Weakness pattern in oriental medicine. Lactate is an important complement that diagonates HVS and will be concearned with Damum.
Objective : The purpose of this study is to determine whether An's breathing meditation qigong therapy (ABMQT) delivers bioenergy to the frontal lobe, prefrontal lobe, the olfactory tract in the mesolimbic pathway, olfactory bulb, CV22, CV21, olfactory area and vocal-related areas in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients to help improve olfactory disorders (anosmia) and vocal functions. Methods : The subjects of this study were 4 patients with idiopathic PD (3 males/1 female, 65.0±NA/68.7±10.2 years old). ABMQT was applied once a week, 120 minutes per session for 12 weeks in a non-invasive and noncontact manner, and the test before and after ABMQT application included olfactory impairment test the Korean version of Sniffin' stick test (KVSS), voice acoustic test, aerodynamic test, vocal handicap index (VHI-30), and auditory perception scale test tools. The results before and after the experiment were analyzed assuming a normal distribution, and a chi-square test was performed using a continuity correction, and the significance level was set to p<0.05. And the medical diagnosis and findings of the examiner (doctor in charge) before and after the experiment were described. Results : KVSS was significant as 0.2±0.5 and 9.0±0.0 before and after the experiment. There was no significant difference between the voice acoustic test FO and Jitter, the vocal aerodynamic test MPT, SP, AE, the vocal disorder index test, and the auditory perception test. However, the medical diagnosis findings of four study subjects showed that olfactory disorders, voice disorders, and laryngeal function were improved before and after the application of ABMQT. Conclusions : The breathing meditation qigong program showed significant effects on improving the olfactory disorders (anosmia) and speech function of each study subject. However, to produce meaningful results, it is thought that experiments involving a larger number of research participants are necessary, and additional blood and FMRI tests are conducted to verify metabolic activities and the olfactory neuron signal transmission system.
