Optimization of Operational and Constitutional Geometric Parameters for Thermoaoustic Energy Output

  • The effects of geometric parameters (stack position, stack length, resonator tube length) and varying input power over acoustic energy output were investigated. The acoustic laser kit (Garret 2000) was used for the construction of TA lasers. A series of sound pressure level measurements in different orientations did not differ significantly confirming that the sound wave generated could be assumed as a spherical wave. An increase in acoustic pressure was recorded with respective increase in input power, stack and resonator tube lengths owing to their relative influence over heat transfer rate and critical temperature gradient across the stack.

  • By using the current road design method that is based on the regulation about structure and facilities standard of the road and the route plan guide of a national road and the alignment optimization road design method which is studied in the inside and outside of country, this study operate the route plan of the sample study and compare and analysis the route character, consequently the current design method has local optimization that is formed the plan by the stage and the section. Alignment optimization road design has the system optimal route search. But cost function has limite that caused by construction parameter that is not included in cost function. So we design a road route included cost function in main fields. As a result, we obtain a realistic and economically road route. The alignment optimization road design model has to be made up some problems, like the change of vertical gradient in the tunnel section, though this defects it has a lot of merits as a geometric design tool, especially in the feasibility study and the scheme design.

  • A dynamic modeling, analysis, and optimum design issuess for the Hybrid type of robot are addressed. The dynamic modeling can be used to describe acceleration and velocity properties of the system explicitly in terms of the actuating forces is coded in C language based on the kinematic influence coefficients(KIC). By using this modeling simulation, the actuating forces needed for the robot follows the given trajectory are calculated. Also, for the design concept, the optimum geometric configuration of the system that minimizes the maximum actuating forces is found by using the optimization techique.

Buckling of cylindrical shells under external pressure proposition of a new shape of self-stiffened shell

  • We propose a new shape of cylindrical shell formed by multiples vaults which gives a self-stiffening against buckling. By an experimental and numerical study of cylindrical shells with a repeated defect, on the circumferential direction made only of outside oriented wave-defects, we show that multiple vault cylindrical shells can have a good behaviour in buckling. An optimal behaviour is obtained by optimization of the vaults number, with conduces to a special multiple vault cylindrical shell named "ASTER shell".

  • A dynamic modeling and analysis for the Stewart platform type of parallel robot is addressed. The dynamic modeling is performed based on the method of Kinematic Influence Coefficients(KIC) and transfering of the generalized coordinates. The optimum geometric configurations of the system that minimize the actuating forces at the linear actuator are found for several trajectories by using the optimization technique.

  • In this study, the geometric modeling has been conducted for 2 models of lower end fitting of advanced LWR fuel using three-dimensional solid modeler, Solidworks. Then, the optimization and the three-dimensional stress analysis using the finite element method has been peformed. The evaluation for the mechanical integrity of 2 models has been peformed based on the stress distribution obtained from the finite element analysis.

  • This paper presents a data-mining aided heuristic algorithm development. The developed algorithm includes three steps. The steps are a uniform selection, development of feature functions and clustering, and a decision tree making. The developed algorithm is employed in designing an optimal multi-station fixture layout. The objective is to minimize the sensitivity function subject to geometric constraints. Its benefit is presented by a comparison with currently available optimization methods.

  • 쉘은 곡률을 가지는 얇은 구조물로 정의된다. 자동차를 비롯하여 항공기, 우주 발사체, 인공위성, 선박 등의 운송수단과 건축물의 돔(done)과 같이 공간을 효율적으로 활용하고 동시에 경량화를 확보할 필요가 있는 경우에 쉘은 널리 사용되는 구조물이다. 쉘 이론은 1960년대까지는 전문가의 영역에 속해 있는 학문이었고 구조역학을 전공한 사람들에게도 다루기 어 려운 구조물로 인식되어 왔다. 실제 다양한 쉘의 거동은 역학과 수학의 폭넓은 지식을 요구하고 학문으로서도 그 속에서 평생을 보낼 만큼 매력적이고 어려운 부분들을 포함하고 있다고 생각된다.(중략)

  • The designing approaches with consideration offabrication process technologies for high-frequency, high-powered, silicon-based static induction thyristors (SITH) are presented. The effects of doping concentration and thickness on the I-V characteristics and power performance of the devices are discussed. The dependence of SITH switching performances on material, geometric structure, and technological parameters isexamined by using two-dimensional simulations. Thick-epitaxy technology is found to be one of the most critical steps in realizing the proposed structure and switching times, $t_{off}$, of SITH, which may be reduced to below ${\sim}0.26{\mu}s$ for the proposed 1,700 V SITH devicesafter optimization.

  • In the present study, the air jet flow characteristics of the dryer in the automatic car wash machine were numerically predicted by commercial CFD code. The effects of the dryer shape and the nozzle width variations on the performance of the automatic car wash machine were discussed. To optimize the geometric parameters, the response surface method(RSM) with CFD was used. Predicted jet velocity distributions for the optimized geometry were compared with experimental data and the comparisons show generally good agreements. Also, the performance of the dryer was improved with the optimized results.
