  • In this study, the reverberation of a bistatic sonar operated in southeastern coast in the East Sea in July 2020 was analyzed. The reverberation sensor data were collected through an LFM sound source towed by a research vessel and a horizontal line array receiver 1 km to 5 km away from it. The reverberation sensor data was analyzed by various methods including geo-plot after signal processing. Through this, it was confirmed that the angle reflected from the sound source through the scatterer to the receiver has a dominant influence on the distribution of the reverberation sound, and the probability distribution characteristics of bistatic sonar reverberation varies for each beam. In addition, parametric factors of K distribution and Rayleigh distribution were estimated from the sample through moment method estimation. Using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test at the confidence level of 0.05, the distribution probability of the data was analyzed. As a result, it could be observed that the reverberation follows a Rayleigh probability distribution, and it could be estimated that this was the effect of a low reverberation to noise ratio.

  • I insisted that the structure should be set newly, pointing out problems in a structure of the big gut, Jain dano je in this paper. Although, the big gut is playing now in Jain dano je, the features of gut geo-ri are vague ; that's why gut geo-ri and performances are entangled. Therefore, the gut geori showing strange structures not fitted with korean shamanist custom is playing these days like Pawangbyeolhui and Eoudong geori. The detailed procedure is also awkward. It is mixed with aspects of shaman custom in each region, instead showing features of regions. What's more, it became a dance drama, not gut geo-ri with several shamans dancing in a gut. Overcoming these problems, the big gut will be a cultural asset. Therefore, when considering the structure of korean gut, we will fit the order of gut geo-ri into the system of divine spirits keeping a plot-opening, developing and closing. It should be a gut geori-oriented play with only gut geo-ri things. Gut should be gone forward main shaman-oriented gut, setting up a main shaman who takes charge of each gut geo-ri. We should find out a new shaman who knows gut of Gyeong sang province well, if shaman who now takes charge of it has a problem. The big gut of Jain dano je became a part of intangible cultural assets. The performance is not a subject of curiosity and people's interests any more as it was in a past. It should be a traditional performance of representing our traditional culture. We should reorganize an epochal gut geo-ri after reexamining gut geo-ri which has played so far.

  • The concept of 'spatial association' explains spatial distribution pattern of geographical phenomenon based on similarity with neighborhoods, as in the Tobler's Law of Geography: 'Everything is related to everything else, but near things are more related than distant things.' In this study, we develop a time-series exploratory analysis tool for discovering temporal patterns of spatial association by combining spatial statistics and geo-visualization, and thus present a possibility to support spatial decision-making process. As for the spatial proximity weight matrix indispensable to measuring global and local spatial association, we employ a variety of flexible weighting schemes using geometric characteristics of areal unit. In addition, we renovate the existing visualization methods for more effective understanding of the procedures and results of time-series analysis on spatial association: for instance, temporal parallel coordinate plot with box plot, animated map for spatial association, and 3D Moran scatterplot. The feasibility of our system is verified by time-series analysis experiments on the spatial association of land price fluctuation rate for all administrative units in Korea, $1995{\sim}2004$.

  • This study investigated the effects of various inorganic anions($Cl^-$, $NO_3{^-}$, $HCO_3{^-}$) on the Methyl tert Butyl Ether(MTBE) degradation by photocatalysis using statistical method. Generally, this process in general demands the generation of hydroxyl radicals(OH radical) in solution in the presence of UV light. The generation of radicals were affected by inorganic anions in solution that inhibited the photodegradation by their trapping hydroxyl radicals. The effects of inorganic anions were mathematically described as the independent variables such as $Cl^-$, $NO_3{^-}$, and $HCO_3{^-}$, and these were designed by mixture analysis that was one of the response surface methodology(RSM). Regression analysis on ANOVA showed significant p-value(p<0.0001) and high coefficients for determination value($R^2$=99.28%, ${R^2}_{adj}$=98.91%). Contour and response surface plots showed that the effects of inorganic anions for MTBE photodegradation based on $UV/H_2O_2$ process. In the result, $Cl^-$ and $HCO_3{^-}$ inhibited the photodegradation of the MTBE by their trapping hydroxyl radicals, and the interaction by these two factors was observed.

  • Slope failure triggered by rainfall produces severe effects on the serviceability and stability of railway, Therefore, slope stability problem is one of the major concerns on the operation of railway. In this study, the rainfall conditions triggering slopes failure adjacent to railroads are investigated and the numerical analysis approach in consideration of infiltration and limit equilibrium method based upon multiple slip surfaces are proposed. The rainfall conditions triggering slope failure are as follow: cumulative rainfall is in the range of 150~500 mm, and duration is from 3 to 24 hours. Base upon the rainfall conditions, infiltration analysis and limit equilibrium method for infinite slope condition are carried out. The depth of infinite slope is assumed as 2 m and the multiple slip surfaces modeled with 16.7 cm interval from the bottom slip surface located at the 2 m depth. The assumed bottom slip surface is the location at which factor of safety is converging. The proposed approach shows more reasonable results than the results from the general codes assuming water table at slope surface. In addition, three dimensional plot of cumulative rainfall, rainfall duration, and factor of safety shows that slope stability analysis in consideration of rainfalll must account for cumulative rainfall (rainfall duration).

  • Duncan & Chang(1970) proposed the Duncan-Chang model that a linear relation of transformed stress-strain plots was reconstituted from a nonlinear relation of stress-strain curve of triaxial compression test using hyperbolic theory so as to estimate an initial tangent modulus and ultimate deviator stress for the soil specimen. Although the transformed stress-strain plots show a linear relationship theoretically, they actually show a nonlinearity at both low and high values of strain of the test. This phenomenon indicates that the stress-strain curve is not a complete form of a hyperbola. So, if linear regression analyses for the transformed stress-strain plot are performed over a full range of strain of a test, error in the estimation of their linear equations is unavoidable depending on ranges of strain with non-linearity. In order to reduce such an error, a modified regression analysis method is proposed in this study, in which linear regression analyses for transformed stress-strain plots are performed over the entire range of strain except the range the non-linearity is shown around starting and ending of the test, and then the initial tangent modulus and ultimate deviator stresses are calculated. Isotropically consolidated-drained triaxial compression tests were performed on compacted weathered soil with a modified Proctor density to obtain their model parameters. The modified regression analyses for transformed stress-strain plots were performed and analyzed results are compared with results estimated by 2 points method (Duncan et al., 1980). As a result of analyses, initial tangent moduli are about 4.0% higher and ultimate deviator stresses are about 2.9% lower than those values estimated by Duncan's 2 points method.

  • In highland crop fields, saprolite is piled up approximately every three years as deep much as 20 to 30 cm because farmers expect that adding new materials may improve productivity and mitigate hazards by continuous cultivation of a single crop. Piling saprolite, however, has been reported to induce poor soil drainage. Effects of deep ploughing with a spading machine and an excavator were studied in sites located in Daekwanryeong-myeon, Pyeongchang in which soil physical properties were deteriorated by piled saprolite. The soil made of parent material of Samgag series was piled up over surface soil of Haggog series naturally developed in the area. Carrot was cultivated in the field. Productivity and growth factors of carrot were compared among control and deep ploughing by a spading machine and an excavator. Effective soil depth extended to 60 cm or greater by 60 cm deep ploughing by an excavator or 50 cm deep ploughing by a spading machine. On the other hand, effective soil depth was within 50 cm at control plot. Productivity of carrot responded to amelioration of soil physical properties. The productivity was greater in deep ploughing treatments than that of control or 30 cm ploughing. It suggested that increased productivity by deep ploughing was mainly related to breaking plough pan which inhibited extension of rooting zone.

  • $N_2O$ and $CH_4$, Greenhouse gas emission, Forest soil, Closed chamber technique, Soil uptake $N_2O$ and $CH_4$ are important greenhouse gases (GHG) along with $CO_2$ influencing greatly on climate change. Their soil emission rates are highly affected by bio-geo-chemical processes in C and N through the land-atmosphere interface. The forest ecosystems are generally considered to be net emission for $N_2O$; however, net sinks for $CH_4$ by soil uptake. Soil $N_2O$ and $CH_4$ emissions were measured at Mt. Taewha in Gwangju, Kyeonggi, Korea. Closed chamber technique was used for surface gas emissions from forest soil during period from May to October 2012. Gas emission measurement was conducted mostly on daytime (from 09:00 to 18:00 LST) during field experiment period (total 25 days). The gas samples collected from chamber for $N_2O$ and $CH_4$ were analyzed by gas chromatography. Soil parameters were also measured at the sampling plot. GHG averages emissions during the experimental period were $3.11{\pm}16.26{\mu}g m^{-2}hr^{-1}$ for $N_2O$, $-1.36{\pm}11.3{\mu}gm^{-2}hr^{-1}$ for $CH_4$, respectively. The results indicated that forest soil acted as a source of $N_2O$, while it acted like a sink of $CH_4$ on average. On monthly base, means of $N_2O$ and $CH_4$ flux during May (spring) were $8.38{\pm}48.7{\mu}gm^{-2}hr^{-1}$, and $-3.21{\pm}31.39{\mu}gm^{-2}hr^{-1}$, respectively. During August (summer) both GHG emissions were found to be positive (averages of $2.45{\pm}20.11{\mu}gm^{-2}hr^{-1}$ for $N_2O$ and $1.36{\pm}9.09{\mu}gm^{-2}hr^{-1}$ for $CH_4$); which they were generally released from soil. During September (fall) $N_2O$ and $CH_4$ soil uptakes were observed and their means were $-1.35{\pm}12.78{\mu}gm^{-2}hr^{-1}$ and $-2.56{\pm}11.73{\mu}gm^{-2}hr^{-1}$, respectively. $N_2O$ emission was relatively higher in spring rather than other seasons. This could be due to dry soil condition during spring experimental period. It seems that soil moisture and temperature mostly influence gas production and consumption, and then emission rate in subsoil environment. Other soil parameters like soil pH and chemical composition were also discussed with respect to GHG emissions.

  • In this study, it was found that determined the photocatalytic degradation of antibiotics (lincomycin, LM) with various catalyst composite of titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$), hydroxyapatite (HAP) and germanium (Ge) under UV-A irradiation. At first, various type of complex catalysts were investigated to compare the enhanced photocatalytic potential. It was observed that in order to obtain the removal efficiencies were $TiO_2/HAP/Ge$ > $TiO_2/Ge$ > $TiO_2/HAP$. The composition of $TiO_2/HAP/Ge$ using a statistical approach based on mixture analysis design, one of response surface method was investigated. The independent variables of $TiO_2$ ($X_1$), HAP ($X_2$) and Ge ($X_3$) which consisted of 6 condition in each variables was set up to determine the effects on LM ($Y_1$) and TOC ($Y_2$) degradation. Regression analysis on analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed significant p-value (p < 0.05) and high coefficients for determination value ($R^2$ of $Y_1=99.28%$ and $R^2$ of $Y_2=98.91%$). Contour plot and response curve showed that the effects of $TiO_2/HAP/Ge$ composition for LM degradation under UV-A irradiation. And the estimated optimal composition for TOC removal ($Y_2$) were $X_1=0.6913$, $X_2=0.2313$ and $X_3=0.0756$ by coded value. By comparison with actual applications, the experimental results were found to be in good agreement with the model's predictions, with mean results for LM and TOC removal of 99.2% and 49.3%, respectively.
