Genetic Analysis of Kallikrein-Kinin System in the Korean Hypertensives

  • The kallikrein-kinin system affects regulation of blood pressure, and genes encoding for the components of this system have been considered as good candidates for hypertension. To evaluate the relationship between genetic polymorphisms of candidate genes involved in this system and hypertension, we performed case-control studies using genetic markers in Korean normotensives and hypertensives, respectively. By association study, there was a marginal association with hypertension in AA genotype distribution of A1789G polymorphism in the hKLK1 gene (P=0.0754). Thus, this genetic polymorphism may weakly contribute to the susceptibility to hypertension in Koreans. We also observed that significant linkage disequilibrium exists among three polymorphic sites in the hKLK1 gene studied, suggesting that the three genetic polymorph isms can be useful as genetic markers in clinical association studies. Further studies using larger sample sizes and more genetic markers will be needed to clarify genetic influence of kallikrein-kinin system for hypertension.

  • A position control algorithm for a flexible manipulato is stuudied. The proposed algorithm is based on a fuzzy theroy with a Steady State Genetic Algorithm(SSGA). The conventional fuzzy methods need expert's knowledges or human experiences. The SSGA, which is one of the optimization algorithms, tunes automatically the input-output membership parameters and fuzzy rules. The computer simulation is presented ot illustrate the approaches. Finally we applied a fuzzy theory with a SSGA to aposition control of a flexible manipulator.

  • This paper suggests fuzzy-PI controllers for a heavy-duty gas turbine. The fuzzy-PI controllers are designed to regulate rotor speed and exhaust temperature of the gas turbine. The controller gains are tuned by genetic algorithm(GA). This paper also proposes a new fitness function of GA using a desired output response. The suggested controller is compared with previous controllers via simulations and it is shown that the rotor speed variation of our controller is smaller than those of previous ones.

  • In the paper, Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) that determines its optimal coefficients using Genetic Algorithms is considered. It is also applied to the inverted pendulum problem known popularly as a standard plant. Flexibility of the inverted pendulum has been taken into account. In the results, Fuzzy Logic Controller under consideration successfully controls both rigid mode and flexible mode. The rule base of Fuzzy Logic Controller is automatically tuned using not only trial-error method but also Genetic Algorithms.

  • This paper proposes the method that estimate optimally the parameters of Fuzzy-PID controller using genetic Algorithm. The controller is desined with the proposed method, and then is applied to 3-phase induction motor. Simulation results show that proposed method is more excellent then FPID and PID.

  • Control of flexible spacecraft is investigated. GA(Genetic Algorithm) based Fuzzy Logic Controller is designed to implement for the attitude control of flexible satellite. The results obtained by employing GA based FLC are compared with those by FLC. It shows much shorter settling time and smaller tip mass oscillation.

  • The genetic algorithm(GA) is applied to the design of the nuclear power control system. The reactor control system model is described in the LQR configuration. The LQR system order is increased to make the tracking system. The key parameters of the design are weighting matrices, and these are usually determined through numerous simulations in the conventional design. To determine the more objective and optimal weightings, the improved GA is applied. The results show that the weightings determined by the GA yield the better system responses than those obtained by tile conventional design method.

  • One of control methods for underactuated manipulators is known as a switching control which selects a partially-stable controller using a prespecified switching rule. A switching computed torque control with a fuzzy energy region method was proposed. In this approach, some partly stable controllers are designed by the computed torque method, and a switching rule is based on fuzzy energy regions. Design parameters related to boundary curves of fuzzy energy regions are optimized offline by a genetic algorithm (GA). In this paper, we discuss on parameters obtained by GA. The effectiveness of the switching fuzzy energy method is demonstrated with some simulations.
